  • HOLDFAST MONEYMAKER VS ROSE ANVIL Camera Harness/ Camera Strap Review for wedding photographers and WHY I'm leaving
    In today's video, I am going over the pros and cons of the holdfast moneymaker double camera harness vs the Rose Anvil Bandit leather double camera strap to give you my honest review on the two and let you know why I am switching. Both of these harnesses are dual leather camera straps providing a safe way for you to carry two cameras at a time. These double camera straps are convenient for wedding photographers and other photographers who don't like switching lenses all the time. Watch the full video and find out just exactly why I am leaving Holdfast Gear to Rose Anvil in this 2021 camera strap review.

    As for the Holdfast, why don't you get an old toothbrush and wash it in the area that absorbs your sweat? An old toothbrush and some body soap or dishwashing liquid and water would fix that sweat odor issue.

    This is great! I was looking for a camera strap and of course the moneymaker was the one I kept seeing around but I wanted someone other than a male photographer to have an honest review. So immediately when this started and you mentioned arm fat, I laughed and said.. oh she gets it. Lol I loved your honest review. It was so helpful! I also love that you are in Austin! (I'm in Houston). I love finding other female photographers especially any sharing tutorials (like I try- in new at them).. and any in home state is a super bonus!! I had seen rose anvil when they had just started a few years ago but then the holdfast caught my eye as more content was about it. Loved the video! You just got a new sub! 🤗

    Why not use saddle soap and leather conditioner to clean and seal your leather from sweat?

  • @osiris4260
    @osiris4260 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would recommend saddle soap to clean the leather and then using leather moisturizer to push out the sweat from the leather and always keep a cleaning routine. The to top it off use a Leather cream polish like Wrens leather cream polish in neutral color. Gives a lovely shiny finish.

    It’s been a while but since you are one of few comparing these products and does it awesome. I have a question: Where do you keep other stuff that u need quick access to on a wedding? Like extra, lenses, batteries etc since u can’t attach anything to the Rose Anvil harness right? The moneymaker have lots of smart ways to attach stuff.this is the one thing that makes me leaning towards the Holdfast. Hate having bags laying around 😂 thanks for a great comparison!

    I haven't had major issues with my Hold Fast gear but again I don't have long hair so that's not an issue, I have had the side rings catch my shirt which is annoying but I just have to look out for what I wear. FYI the holdfast gear also have belt loop anchor which attach to your D rings. One last thing I guess I haven't used the holdfast long enough to encounter the sweat/smelly issue. Great review and good points!

      Only people that have poor hygiene and don’t use proper deodorant will run into issues. You won’t have issues with the HF or any other strap/ harness smelling if you don’t smell. You can sweat on it, and that’ll never make it smell like stinky b.o. That’s on the person. Also, in order for the harness to stink, that means that you’re sweating through your clothes first, and then into the harness. Just nasty and no excuse to smell. Doesn’t matter how hot and humid it is. Stinky sweat is inexcusable.

    This is great! I have been using a holdfast for 3-4 years now and I have the exact same complaints!! There have been SO many times I told my second shooter or our videographer “just rip my hair!!!” 😩 I have also found myself on the tightest, shortest harness settings yet my camera with my 70-200 len bangs into the back of my leg when I walk while shooting leaving the biggest, horrible, painful bruises on the backs of my legs. Recently I stumbled across the Rose Anvil Harness and I have been very curious. The fact that you said you get stress headaches and your back is broken the next day just solidified that fact that I will be switching as soon as possible. EVERY TIME I shoot the same thing happens to me. I use a hot neck wrap 4-5 to loosen the muscles back up. The belt clip on the rose anvil, genesis. Holdfast just added one to their line but the last fact that the leather is lighter (since I have a small frame overall) really seals the deal for me. Thank you for making this video! New harness here I come!

    Loved your honesty and the fact you modeled them, but I had to say, I'm in shock that the Rose Anvil is even more than the money maker. I was expecting you to give the truth about hold fast because perhaps it's overpriced and hyped up and I was thinking/hoping that RA was going to be a cheaper alternative. If I'm speaking honestly as well, the RA looks like a cheaper material. You can see that its worn in already and showing some wrinkles in the material. Bummer. I'm leaning towards a Black Rapid at the moment. It seems comfortable/durable and easy to use. I love these leather harnesses but I've been researching them for weeks and I keep seeing mixed reviews. I have a wedding in 2 weeks that I need a harness for. I'm running out of time :/

      I own the holdfast straps and have used them for a few years. The owner has a video of the various leather types and considerations for each type. Although our experiences may vary, the American bison has worked very well for me. I do sweat a lot and it’s held up really well with no foul smell. Holdfast now makes the anchors, which help prevent the excessive motion mentioned, which I have and use. I don’t work for or sponsor holdfast, but they have been really responsive, when it comes to questions or suggestions. Reach out them if you have any concerns.

    This is just an opinion but maybe the main problem with the holdfast harness and you is that you were born with a woman body. You know long hair that can be easily pulled, boobs that push the strap towards your sides were it can pinch your arm and a small delicate back that’s not meant to bare a lot a weight. I think if your ever tempted to change up the whole womanly thing you got going on you might like it. It’s probably a strap that would like to be unisex but it’s really best suited for one body type.

      @@ldmndz4652 too sensive. Calm down. I didn't take offense.

    Sounds like you need better deodorant. There’s ZERO excuse for smelling like BO when you’re on a job. Especially at a wedding. That’s just nasty. You blaming Holdfast instead of yourself speaks volumes. Air out and condition the leather more often especially in your climate. But more important, switch to better deodorant.

      Thanks for the unsolicited advice on my deodorant. Ill keep that in mind next time I'm shooting a 6 hour wedding in 100+ weather, 80% humidity, outside in the direct sun :)
