- I left Star Wars: Empire at War running in an AI-only game for 575 ingame weeks, that's 50 years in Thrawn's Revenge, to see who would come out on top...

"The Era 1 game is still ongoing."
That simultaneously excites, intrigues, and frightens me, my good sir.
That was actually pretty weirdly accurate to the lore; testament to the skill put into the mod
Implying that Pentastar became the Imperial Remnant?
That's basically what happened.
Surprise NR comeback. Pentastar doing absurdly well and Zsinj getting stomped by everyone was no surprise though.
Really neat video idea, by the way. Would be cool to maybe see more of a play-by-play coverage of the AI conquering the galaxy, but that would be rather time consuming and could also get a bit silly.
I agree with the last part fully
Yeah, Zsinj is probably the weakest of the Warlord factions in game. The only other one that comes close to being the weakest is arguably the Greater Maldrood.
@@coruscant100 agreed that’s something I wish was a bit different Zsinj never wins but I think the gm are a bit better than the ea
@@coruscant100 “ironic”
@@coruscant100 What makes you say that? About both.
That was weirdly accurate, minus the border gore.
0:50
Eriadu: "Make way, Superior General claiming command."
New Republic and Pentastar: "I didn't hear no bell."
I’m rather surprised by just how long Greater Maldrood managed to hang around in this given their terrible starting position.
I'm a big fan of this. The AI interactions in the bigger progressive maps on harder difficulties was always fun playing against.
Pentastar alignment and the republic being the last ones standing just makes sense
F in chat for my boy delvardus he almost had it before he got dogpiled
Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
Nah go to hell you and your boring faction delvardus
Eriadu was doing really well and then just shit the bed out of nowhere.
Lore accurate eriadu
I'm not certain what planets those were but I think they had some really heavy fighting if you look in 160-175 with the Republic with like a contested/lost/retaken planet or two every cycle. And then they might've lost Eriadu? Again I'm not sure what those globes are exactly. Eriadu, maybe Sullust in there. I think they definitely lost a major shipyard or two in that cause it screams fleet wipe + hostile fleets sitting over your most valuable planets lol.
Pentastar must have decent late game stuff...Never really delved into checking that out. Republic I'm not too surprised between their size + late game stuff...*but* crazy they survived. It feels like in my games they always die fast
One of my favorite parts of the game watching the ai fight thanks for this Corey
In my experience many factions usually manage to survive with one planet and their leader there, with deathstacks large enough to dissuade the other AI players from attacking if they could go after the player instead. So factions getting eliminated at all was a bit of a shock. Though I'm pretty sure I spotted an EA planet in th galactic north after the faction was declared dead.
The NR managing to core out EA in the south is also not to be taken for granted, usually EA absolutely steamrolls. Interesting that the Hapans and the Hutts both had a phase of explosive growth before they were being crumpled and snuffed out.
I see the Eriadu one too. It's still alive all the way up to the end in the NW
That's not Eriadu, it's the Empire of the Hand, who I basically used as my cameraman. It wasn't connected to any other planets.
@@CoreyLoses That explains it! Thanks for the clarification
That was amazing! Please do make more if it's not much trouble. I always enjoy seeing games where the ai and world keep doing their own stuff even without player interaction.
Surprised that the Hutts out lived the Hapes
So going by the ratio of 575 cycles being equal to 50 years...(warning: major spoilers for New Jedi Order and beyond for any first time readers)
Eriadu Authority kicked the bucket around 26 ABY, which would've been not long after the Yuuzhan Vong War started
Galactic Empire is gone around 30 ABY, which is after the Vong invasion ended and when the Galactic Alliance really take hold (also when Corellia starts to become unruly)
Hapans got wiped out around 38 ABY. Nothing significant happened then, apart from the Corporate Sector Authority doing stuff
Daddy Zsinj dies in 40 ABY. At this time, Abeloth is running rampant, Tahiri Veilla is on trial for murdering Gilad Pellaeon, Natasi "I'm not a dictator" Daala gets overthrown after running the GA into the ground, slave rebellions occur, and the galaxy is chaotic
Hutts finally get squished out in 47 ABY. Nothing really seems to be happening then in Legends.
Maldrood becomes Maldead in 48 ABY. Again, there isn't much information about anything that happens.
I'm gonna guess that Pentastar and New Republic will keep fighting all the way into the Legacy Era. It'll make for an interesting time when the One Sith appear.
The US Navy experimenting on AI be like:
AI: *tries to take over the universe”
USN: “shit.”
That's not even a joke anymore. The US military has already admitted an AI controlled weapon system they were testing already turned on its human controllers in a simulation.
"Experiment: Successful"
Well SHEEEET
Damn, the Hutts got dislodged so hard. Also kinda surprised at Maldrood's performance. I would love to see more of these.
Fun experience. I was thinking, that Empire would win in the beginning, but New Republic managed to came back on top, nad then just steamroll everyonelse.
For The REPUBLIC!
GLORY TO THE NEW REPUBLIC
so this is how Democracy thrives with thunderous applause, it like legends universe on how new republic spread
Very cool! Would be nice if there was a little thing to also show who had Coruscant if possible (maybe in like a box in the corner).
In the future it would be a helpful idea to have a popup on screen to let us know if and when one of the warlords forms dark empire
Is it sad that I wish this could be a feature of EAWX, Having the AI fight itself while you watch it, like AI observation mode in Remake?
that might be cool
Is there a reason why it couldn't? Or is the game just too old?
Those ea hold outs doing their best to not be noticed
Pretty accurate tbf. By the end of the GCW the Remnant occupied the territory that the alignment had held following its formation
Nice idea and video. I am actually surprised how well some early losers clung on (Hutts, Zsinj) and how suddenly Eriadu dropped.
You know what would be fun/funny, covering an Empire at War playthrough but in the style of an ESPN sports show...
Lore Accurate battle map. Very cool!
Corey this was normal ai? Cruel removes the hapes isolationism so that may change the formula
Thank you for posting this, it was a really fun watch! :)
Interesting that the result goes against the norm in what is like my last 10+ GC's, I dunno what difficulty was set (I guess admiral), at least with cruel admiral the NR always barely manage against Eriadu in my experience (and that is with Eriadu having a dumbed down AI). The Galactic Empire always come on top by sheer military force, unless I decide to fight them first and destroy the tier 3/4 shipyards.
Who do you normally play? The decisions you make will probably massively impact the outcome
@@danielscrimgeour8812Long term every faction in general, aside from not playing that much with the Empire of the Hand, never really playing Hapes and now I still have to try a full GC with the Hutts.
@@juanca2807 I think players tend to play more aggressive than ai. This will put more pressure on the ai stopping them from attacking places they would attack if left to themselves.
@@danielscrimgeour8812 The AI tends to lack a macro conquest objetive for GC's, I can't compare exactly to this video by time because at cycle 120 it is late game for me and I tend to have conquered nearly half of the planets; also auto resolve is pretty deceiving to how the ships actually compare in battle.
I have also made some arrangements to the files, otherwise it is common for the AI to just park idle stacks of ships, that is to say 2K+ fleets in cruel, this also contributes to the AI's randomly losing a bunch of planets without fighting.
All in all the AI in this game is just not great, hard to balance since it won't do anything unless it has a ton of money, but also doesn't have a middle ground between idling a lot and rushing the player constantly (which a lot of people wouldn't find fun to play against).
@@juanca2807 I had some success by increasing the AI's preference for attacking factions with less overall strength than them. It helped get them to squish smaller enemies to get the extra cashflow and build up for a bigger clash with the player or other large threats. Also meant they tended to rush the player only after having enough of an advantage to be a real threat. The downside is that a player doing well enough would basically never fight a defensive battle.
From the start I knew it´d be NR vs PA 😁
Nice idea
Please make more like this!
This was really interesting but I have one suggestion for future videos like this - would it be possible to get a view of the Galactic map, so we can see the ships/structures that the AI is using?
This was really interesting
Wow military industrial complex couldn’t prevail over bloated bureaucracy
Would be fun to see more
This is absolute proof that Disney Star Wars screw up by claiming the Galactic Empire collapsed at Jakku just a year after Endor. The Empire is too expansive for a quick defeat.
No EotH or does that just have to be the dummy/neutral faction for the player spectator lol? Would certainly have an impact on how the PA does. Also, how many other statistics could you add to the live feed - income, number of planets, military power, etc? Raw numbers would be nice
Pretty sure one the hand is not on this map and wouldn't really stop the pa that much
And two it's a disconnected planet Corey used to set this up lol
Yeah, Corey used EATH as the cameraman.
I'd love to see a version of this with play-by-play commentary
Nice...little suggestion. Notification when eras advance, dark empire etc.
FOR THE REPUBLIC!....just not disneys tho...no no...oh it went acolyte...no its burning!
Actual schizo comment
Actual schizo comment
Corey omitted CSA because he knew they would win.
Up next 50 shades of StarWars
if someone can put this on those mapping videos on the Galaxy map it'd be great to see
Nearly lore accurate too.
I like how the two factions that I wanted to win most were the ones that duked it out at the end.
If each 100 cycles is 10 years, that means my fotr and tr and other big mod campaigns last 30-60 years!!
In TR one cycle is one month, in FotR two cycles is one month.
No suprise the NR dominated. It I was surprised PA held on through the whole thing. And the Hutts, my slugs, they held out way longer than expected.
Cool video, how did you do this?
this was very cool ^_^
The swtor intro music will always go hard
Do it again about 50 times. See how variable the results are.
Curious how you set this up, did you just make a custom map where you were on a planet unconnected to the rest of the galaxy?
Just added Nirauan to the known galaxy map and "played" as the EotH
@@CoreyLoses Ahh, haha.
Wow
Oooh i'v seen HOI4 videos for this I love these
I'm still trying to figure out how you guys are getting the AI playing on it's own
Is there a link to the mod?
Zsinj still had a planet on the minimap by the end, but it falls off the list much earlier.
I assume Dathomir.
Edit: And upon a closer look, they also have two other planets down and to the left slightly.
Edit Edit: Unless the coloring is just a little off on those spots? Now I'm uncertain...
The colour is very close to neutral, which planets generally turn to for a bit before something is built on them. He did have one or two left but nothing active
still no yuzhan vong yet in this mod ?
How did this work??
What's the order on the right, number of planets controlled?
Yes, though it's not exact
empire gets dumpstered lol. of course NR pops off
😮
canon event
Make ai wars with remake mod pls
Long live the New Republic! Wish the NCR of Fallout were led by a Courier, so to have a success rate akin to this.
Why’s there neutral planets?
Planets will show as neutral after being conquered until a structure is built
@@CoreyLoses oh ok
Bro what happened to the Empire lol
Also proof that the nr is a bit op
What do you think is OP about them?
@@CoreyLoses how they just rolled everyone and how it happens almost every time
What do you think that actually means about them though? The maps are set up to help make sure they don't just get obliterated early like they used to, but everything that happens here is entirely auto resolve, so it doesn't reflect anything about the units in it. That and hero access, which isn't necessarily more powerful in battles proportionally, but does give an advantage in autoresolve, and can be exceeded by Legitimacy anyways
@@CoreyLoses I don’t really know it’s hard to explain but just for some reason they almost never lose and 9 out of the 10 times they kill the ea no problem
@@CoreyLoses this is off the topic of the nr but have you ever thought of adding territorial lines around the planets and have them color coded for each faction or is that something that isn’t codeable into the game
Hey Corey will you ever update the voice actors for the Hapes so they don't sound like children ?
Well they aren't children and we use the voices of the people who are generous enough to donate their time to the mod. This is a hobby project with community-submissions and no budget to pay professional voice actors and actresses. It's that or nothing.
