Yeah Glenn. I was very surprised to see them there too! There were a few more half way up that stream. There was thunder while we were there so potentially they were retreating to safety.
Just FYI, the land in-between the lighthouse and waituna stream belongs to Nagti Hinewaka. You drove over various 600 - 800 year old maori structures, build by the direct descendants of Kupe. Campinm is not permitted there. Only place where you can camp is north of the river. Good to see you didnt go onto the beach and wreck the dotterel nesting grounds / seal colonies. Please be very respectful when entering this whenua, the place is tapu to many. You are not of that tapu.
Nice video mate. Next time I'm up in Wellington, I am definitely checking out Cape Palliser.
Cheers Marcus. Let me know when you’re up and I can show you the good spots to camp out there
Nice edit. One of my favorite spots. Stop given away my camping spots lol.
Did I meet you at the expo?
@@chillybinadventures yeah bro.
@@scottandchels6813 Thought so, great to meet ya in person 👍🏻
Classic! Swam at that waterfall dozens of times but never seen seals there... it's a long way up from the beach
