I smiled big when the W201 came up. The multi-link rear suspension was a BIG acheivement. My 190D is like a go-kart. So connected to the road and so nimble. I feel like it's part of my body when I drive it.
When I went to the dealer with my dad to buy his first Mercedes the dealer said: "There is only one drawback in buying this car" and my dad asked him "what?" ; "You´ll never consider any other car to buy, you will never get down from a Merc" and he was right my dad and I dont even care what other cars offers, we just don´t care...
I always love the E class Mercedes. I saw the scoop of the supposed new shape E Class in 2009 in the Autocar ( the UK one). In light metallic blue and with lovely alloys, the car looked absolutely superb.
Precioso video, tengo un Mercedes y este video me hace sentirme orgulloso de pertenecer, de algun modo, a una leyenda... la canción "Surface to air" de Chemical Brothers es extraordinaria
Ever since my earliest childhood memories Mercedes Benz has been a part of my life. My first taste was a 1969 220D. I have several of them now, all diesels, and cannot see owning any other car. The original slogan is the best.. "engineered like NO other car in the world"
And i agree with you! Mercedes made first mass production car, and Ford T was first car made on assembly line. Mercedes was first. But the production quality could not be matched by the hand crafted Mercedes from the gods in Stuttgart!
Nice video. Maybe a bit unaccurate in some aspects, but well, it´s a promo video after all. BTW, the car featured in the background of the SL part is not a Mercedes, actually it´s a GM prototype. Those images are from a quite funny promo film of GM titled "The Word of Tomorrow".
...or as a friend of mine (and fellow Mercedes fan) said when I was looking at my first Mercedes, "no one ever owns just one". Since then I have had three! :-)
Once you've driven a Mercedes Benz, and owned one, you'll never consider another car to be in the same amount of quality and detail, as Mercedes-Benz has done since their first car.
RSTarga, what are you talking about, man? I was talking about the video, didn´t intend to start a "the GM of my dad is better than the Mercedes of your dad" debate. It´s quite stupid that the makers of the video used a promo video of another car maker to advertise a Mercedes. It´s a very nice film, anyway.
123 years young and still going strong. Been wining races for 111 years now. Benz, C.I.E., Daimler-Benz, Daimler-Mercedes, DaimlerChrysler Daimler, Ag. THe dominance and the standard of luxury will reign for another 123 years.
@Dragsteryourself Couldnt agree more. I drive a mazda speed 6 My dad's got an xjr and my moms got an S class. My dad takes my mazda out all the time and we often trade cars. Each one has its own personality. Love the benz though. its a frikken tank.
@royalsteven Mazda is Japaneese, and Jag is British. No hate though, I like both too! My favorite though is Mercedes Benz and Volvo. I've had many of both. I currently own a Volvo 240 and A W220 S500. Great wonderful cars with sheer class. Cars that will stand the test of time. Something American cars can't do.
I saw that, but when i had my 1998 e-class, there were many problems with transmission electronic, lambda was not showing oxygen in exhaust, so the car drank few liters more and there was SMOKE BARRIER (!!!) behind the car, but... after a week i had enough and i lifted it up, replaced lambda and EKE with new fixed second-release parts from Germany, and... this is the 10th year since the last problem, my son drives it now, but a piece of a Benz always stays in you... I just could not sell it.
my reply was to an earlier comment made by digitalage03, which tried to excuse mercedes' amnesia towards WW2 in this video by distracting us with comments about the japanese... but I must stress that I have nothing against Mercedes in the post-war period.
Cool Video - although it shows Mercedes with the first driver airbag about 1986 or so. I had a Cadillac from 1975 with factory air bags, 11 years before Mercedes. It was a big ugly center hub on the wheel just as they were in Mercedes.
@towrnghrybear mercedes ARE luxury cars!!! btw it was 1986 and why do you think Merc are not luxury cars? They are by FAR way better than Cadillacs, and I have owned 1 cadillac before, it may be a luxury car, but you can only drive for about 13 years in a cadillac, but 35 in a merc, bmw, and vw :)
Cool Video - although it shows Mercedes with the first driver airbag about 1986 or so. I had a Cadillac from 1975 with factory air bags, 11 years before Mercedes. It was a big ugly center hub on the wheel just as they were in Mercedes. This video shows some truth, Mercedes are perfect Work Horses - NOT Luxury cars.
since the past 20 years of me being on this earth mercedes benz has always and will alway bemy favourite arsi am sooo mad bout emm i thinkit was the day i was born my dad bought me home in a mercedes benz 190 e 2 liter automatic petrol i think thatd day benz got me mad about there cars we had 6 mercs in our family 190 e 3 c200 sports 2003 c200 avangard red now i own a 190 e back auto and i love it oo much cant eventhink abou selling it
Well there is no car in which one you can survive a direct hit with 150, even 70km/h. It's not about that you would be smashed by the steel, but the sudden stop makes collapse of your internal organs. And there were some theories that the car was sabotaged... but anyway, at 150, lady D. wouldn't survive.
yes, the japanese did bad things and should also not omit the war in their history timeline video. however this video is from Mercedes, not toyota or mitsubishi (who made the Zero). I have to disagree about nothing new being developed from the 1930's until early 50's. Plenty of army-related vehicles were produced and developed.
Japanese asked for it... If they would surrender, not fanatically fight the inevitable, 200.000 people wouldn't die. The pilot who dropped the bomb killed himself. WIth all due respect.
@cheaniggachea, says someone who is from Canada, *googles if there's any canadian car-maker... no wait, what's the point, you're a canadian anyway*. Everyone has an opinion and just because you don't like them, doesn't mean it's a fact or something, you're biased on german cars, that's alright, i love them too, i mean who doesn't? But please, calling a Mazda or a Jag as trash, doesn't make any sense as you haven't had one.
I can't get it how can people say VW or Renault are better. This video is truly amazing, but only half of the innovations are here. They made car. A car with true identity and spirit. None could get to withstand him. None. But... When Jurgen Schrempp became director, merged it with Chrysler, financed Mitsubishi, the cars went wrong. What happened to you, my favourite brand? Will you start making cars like in the past, or will you just sit back and wait for the money? I am waiting... Patiently...
@towrnghrybear Aufgrund weltweit stark steigender Unfallzahlen in den 60er Jahren begann man 1967 bei Mercedes-Benz mit der Entwicklung von Airbags. All you have to read is the Year and Car manufacturer, this comes from Wikipedia, and i highly would disagree it is incorrect as to how many years it is already been in there. TBH: Mercedes should not be Sold in the USA, This vehicle is for Europe the benchmark of Luxury and All day Comfort/Practicality and will stay that way sold in USA or not.
Thank you, Mercedes-Benz engineers, for making the safety innovations to help protect us- even in the most severe car crashes.
Spectacular video. MB have always been leaders in automotive development
I smiled big when the W201 came up. The multi-link rear suspension was a BIG acheivement. My 190D is like a go-kart. So connected to the road and so nimble. I feel like it's part of my body when I drive it.
Music is "Chemical Brothers - Surface to Air "
When I went to the dealer with my dad to buy his first Mercedes the dealer said: "There is only one drawback in buying this car" and my dad asked him "what?" ; "You´ll never consider any other car to buy, you will never get down from a Merc" and he was right my dad and I dont even care what other cars offers, we just don´t care...
I feel proud to own a Mercedes.
Simply Fantastic! Congratulations Mercedes-Benz. I want one of theese cars

I always love the E class Mercedes. I saw the scoop of the supposed new shape E Class in 2009 in the Autocar ( the UK one). In light metallic blue and with lovely alloys, the car looked absolutely superb.
True. The W116,W124,W126 and W201 were also bank vaults.
Precioso video, tengo un Mercedes y este video me hace sentirme orgulloso de pertenecer, de algun modo, a una leyenda...
la canción "Surface to air" de Chemical Brothers es extraordinaria
Got goosebumps. Seriously, no other brand has the fucking finesse and aura as the three pointed star.
Ever since my earliest childhood memories Mercedes Benz has been a part of my life. My first taste was a 1969 220D. I have several of them now, all diesels, and cannot see owning any other car. The original slogan is the best.. "engineered like NO other car in the world"

@EuroJungen22 I agree with you ! This is a dream-car !
Nice video. Maybe a bit unaccurate in some aspects, but well, it´s a promo video after all.

We all are mercedes fan❤️

Mercedes Benz: never failed at quality and NEVER EVER... failed at design:)
apparently WW2 never happened according to this lovely video.
123 years young and still going strong. Been wining races for 111 years now.
Benz, C.I.E., Daimler-Benz, Daimler-Mercedes, DaimlerChrysler Daimler, Ag.
THe dominance and the standard of luxury will reign for another 123 years.
Jaaa!!!
@WarrantForYou The Chemical Brothers - Surface To Air
Without Mercedes most cars would be like they were in the 1970's.
@Dragsteryourself Couldnt agree more.
I drive a mazda speed 6
My dad's got an xjr

Is this video in HD somewhere?
Audi Mercedes und BMW sind die besten Auto-Marken der Welt!!!
I looked up Toyota Innovations but only got something about "self-parking".
THE MODELS OF A FEW YEARS AGO 4-10 YEARS AGO WERE REALLY AGLY BUT FINNALLY MERCADES IS TAKING OFF AGAIN
I like Mercedes Benz
I saw that, but when i had my 1998 e-class, there were many problems with transmission electronic, lambda was not showing oxygen in exhaust, so the car drank few liters more and there was SMOKE BARRIER (!!!) behind the car, but... after a week i had enough and i lifted it up, replaced lambda and EKE with new fixed second-release parts from Germany, and... this is the 10th year since the last problem, my son drives it now, but a piece of a Benz always stays in you... Great minds think alike: Benz-Maybach-Daimler
THE BEST OR NOTHING - Grandpa Gottlieb Daimler!
That's true, Mercedes Benz should build cars as W123. These cars are tanks.
muito lindo
There are some really great cars around the world today, however, there is on ONLY ONE Mercedes-Benz.
i also
my reply was to an earlier comment made by digitalage03, which tried to excuse mercedes' amnesia towards WW2 in this video by distracting us with comments about the japanese... but I must stress that I have nothing against Mercedes in the post-war period.

@qotsafreak89 I would love to hear it while driving my Mercedes-Benz 8-D

Oh, and by the way, Mercedes Benz didn´t exist in January 1886, so hardly they could patent anything.
Japanese asked for it... If they would surrender, not fanatically fight the inevitable, 200.000 people wouldn't die. The pilot who dropped the bomb killed himself. WIth all due respect.
@pinkcheckerd if american cars are so good why do they need bailouts? :|
