I don't think community college students should be looked down upon. Not everyone has the money and high grades for University and some people are just more comfortable with CC. IM going to a CC his summer and I'm so excited.
Important to know. University first year dropout rate is 50% YES 50%. They would like to hide that fact, but its true, look it up yourself. BTW, your debt doesn't go away, just because you dropped out. California Universities cost about $12-15,000 per year, plus other costs, fees, then add living expenses, plan on close to $50,000 per year (housing, food etc) Community College is nearly FREE if you do it right. My pay when I started school was $8.50 to $9.00 per hour. 3 years of Community College, 1/2 time evenings, I got my degree, after 2 years more working my new job skills, my pay rose to $22. per hour... I more than DOUBLED MY PAY with a Community College degree. YOU can do it too. 4. Planning to transfer to a 4 year? 4 year universities have a 50% dropout rate the first year. Not to mention, you pay $0 (as in tution) if you're in community college student in California, it's a program called "College Promise". And I get a free bus pass offered by them which is sooooo cool. However, you need to complete some requirements in order to join. (I am currently a community college student)
@@wangxu2155 I would think yes.. but take all transfer units there in Florida and maintain a 3.5 gpa is you can. To be sure check with your community college counselor... 4 year colleges love and need community college grads, as they lose a lot of students in their first two years.
I believe community college is harder than high school but easier than University. If you really think about that though, that means a community college grad is just as prepared, if not a little more prepared, for university than a person who just went from high school to a university. If having a 3.8 gpa from high school got you into a university than someone with a 3.8 gpa from a community college is just as capable as you. People don't think about that. Not everybody at a community college is stupid some people just had other things in their life going on during high school and weren't focused.
thank you! literally my situation! i did get accepted to some universities, the problem is, is that i’m still at the bottom level of building myself back up which is why i’m going to CC.
CC is what you make of it tbh. Sometimes the stereotypes are real, some of the Losers who didn't try in high school go there, but they tend to be the ones that drop out and don't make use of college. Most of the time the students either can't afford to go to a university after high school or don't know what they want to do after high school. Community colleges are now the norm and better to go, you save money then after 2-3 years, you can transfer to a university for the next 2-3 years depending on your credits. I wish people would stop making community college look bad because of a few bad people who didnt take it seriously
Everyone in my small high school group are going to big universities in all over the US but not me ): yes the reason why I'm going to a cc because 1 I don't want to pay $$$ and I don't have the grades. English is my 2nd language and I feel like if I go to a university I'm gonna fail my classes just because I NEED HELP!! Like I get freaked out when I don't have someone to talk to and help me when I have troubles.
@@lgsushil2493 im probably going to do the same for two reasons 1. Finance. While my peers are going on snapchat drinking and smiling,im going to be smiling when i only need to pay 20,000 after college. 2. Colleges are very liberal and it will be a lot of strees trying not to trigger anyone by breathing
I agree with the studying part. When I graduated high school, I wasn't the best when it came to studying. It showed in my grades especially when I got to college. It got to the point where my GPA wasn't high enough for me to return to college the next year. So I decided to take some time off to figure out what I want to do with my life. I am now going back to school and going to a community college. I am studying art and photography.
im a senior in high school & it was really difficult for me all four years because of family problems & similar things so my gpa ended up being really low to get into a four year college and also the money too. however, im still nervous about going to a cc & i really needed this. thank you !
Spot on! Community colleges like my own are doctorates from USC, Harvard, etc. I was shocked at the caliber of professors I had in a community college.
If you look for help in community college it'll benefit you in the end. Currently, at a 3.8, I'm planning on transferring by fall 2020. Getting my first year free, and if I maintain a 3.0 I'll also get the second year free. By then I'd graduate from CC and have transferred to a UC, or CSU. The community college has its perks like saving up money so by the time you transfer you'd use the financial aid saved up to pay for the last two years in college, less debt means less stress. People look down on community college students because you're seen as a failure but it isn't the case. Just play your cards right and you'll be good.
I'm a high school junior and I actually have a pretty high gpa right now, but Im leaning towards community college because I want to save money for medical school and such. I want to try to avoid taking on crippling student loans.
Thank you so much for this! I took a year off to work and I moved out from my parents but moved back and got my life back on track. I got accepted a few days ago to my community college I am starting in the Fall and this really helps. I have a sister who has already completed a different community college and is in University right now, so I'm glad to have her help through it as well. Thank you for this video!
I just finished my junior year of High School a few days ago and I'm kind of freaking out about being a senior once summer is over 😂 I'm 17 and High School has flown by like crazy. When I finish High school, I plan on going to a local community college for 2 years and then transferring to a university junior year of college. I'm sooo nervous about it. Since my Freshman year, I've kind of always dreaded graduating because I'm so scared of independence and growing up so hopefully community college helps a little bit rather than a university
TØP Obsessed I’m in the same situation as you. I feel the same exact way about graduating!! I’m still not even sure what I want to major in but I hope time in cc will help me figure it out..
About to start my fall semester of CC. Just registered for my classes. This video helped a ton so I just wanna say a huge thank you! And good luck with your major!
I went to CC near my home in the Silicon Valley. My CC instructors were also teaching at Stanford, Cal, Santa Clara University, and SJSU so I received an education at CC similar to one at a university for a fraction of the cost. Also, qualifying for the CA Board of Governors grant meant even more savings. Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, the 'Harvard of Community Colleges' makes it easy to transfer to a UC, CSU , private school, or out-of-state school with all their college fairs. I'm a big believer in the great value of CC's, but do your research, not all of them transfer credits easily.
Thank you so much for this video. It helped me so much. I was about to give up and drop out of community college, but then I saw this video and it revived me, and gave me a rebirth and a new outlook on life. You deserve a million views for this video!!! I wrote down all the tips/steps that you gave on paper (for reference). Keep having fun doing TH-cam videos. Bye, doll.
I have 1430 sat, (640 790), perfect sat2math2, Five AP with a perfect 5 (Micro/Macroeconomic, Psychology, Calculus BC, Physics1). Full honor roll and many other extracurriculars. BUT, I'm going to a community college, simply because I got rejected from every college I've applied. (rutgers, wisconsin-madison, north carolina, virginia, Michigan Ann arbor, NYU, UPenn.) DAMN I almost got a depression. Looking forward to go to a community college :)
I went to an amazing community college. I was in cc for two year and was able to be into a great private school. I have very little debt and I am proud of going to a community college.
Anyone transferring to a university after their first two years need to establish a good relationship with their instructors while they are in CC. Talk to them after class, participate in class, go to their office hours. These are the people that will help you write a good recommendation letter when you apply to transfer. It’s gonna be awkward when you ask for a recommendation letter from an instructor that you barely talked to or participated in class.
I went to a community college for two years and I didn’t really like it that much. Education wise. I did learned a lot in some classes and some did not. What Community College lacks a lot is the actual college experience. It a good place for education. But now I Transfer over to a University and it so much better. I agree it harder. But because University offers so much more. Like events and free stuff that given to students at a University. Or all the different types of clubs or activities that happens through campus. There pros and cons to both. But when you think about it, someone who attends a community college, will still get the higher education but miss out in the other things. Going to a university might be tough when it comes to classes but you be able to have some fun which is really different from a community college.
Omg she's so amazingly talented! Beautiful and well-versed in spoken word. As a community college graduate, I can attest to its greatness and applicability.
Im going to a Career College! I'm focusing on medical assisting, typing, and thought patterns which is psychology! I started last Thursday. I can't wait for Monday because I already made 2 friends and I love the teachers!
These are some great tips! Especially building a good relationship with the professor and budgeting money. I will make sure to not take these for granted. I'm a senior here who is about to graduate from HS. I have a lackluster GPA (3.8 weighted (3.0 Unweighted)/5 scale). I didn't get any scholarships or grants so I'm attending CC to save money and taking pre-requisite classes on the low as well as get my A.S. degree. Then transfer to uni to study business or IT. My concern is being lonely when I do transfer to uni. By the time I enter my major, that's when everyone had already formed their group of friends and I will most likely live off campus (apartment housing). Meaning less interactions/connections of people. Any tips to make friends when you transfer to uni? And how to apply for internships? I know it's early for me to think about these things but it's good to know :) Much appreciated. Other than that, I will get on that college grind!!! LET"S GOOOOOO!!!!!
So cool to hear how excited you are about your schooling. And yes I totally understand your concern, it's relevant to me too..But consider that once you do transfer there will be a whole community of transfers just like you. Making friends won't be too hard because once you transfer you're going to be taking classes with people in your own major. So you guys will have a lot alike! at least the same passion so don't worry too much. Good luck in CC, knock out all your classes and get out of there asap! lol as far as internships you would have to look into that depending on your school.
I’m in the end of my junior year, I’m so afraid of going to college. I’m an A+ student but I don’t know if I am going to survive community college, high school is way too easy to be truth. I don’t think high school prepares students well for college.
David Oliveros community college is not hard! If you’re getting A+ you clearly already have a good work ethic. I did the bare minimum in high school so I had to really change my habits for college lol. If you’re choosing the cc path you’ll be even better prepared and have a smooth transfer if you’re feeling like you’re not ready. But don’t waste time, go to college right out of high school if possible. whichever route you choose.
Every system is different but similar. The process of applying to school, registering for classes, paying due fees and petitioning for classes can seem like a lot but take it step by step.
I wish I had known all of this in my first year of cc. I'll only be going to a big university for one year because my school has a 3+1 nursing program. It's weird going to a cc for that long, but I will save so much money in the long run.
So true! I never studied in high school. And I graduated just fine. I went to community college and I got slapped in the face. Started getting Ds and Fs. Dropped out. I was immature. Now I'm back with a different mind set. Been getting all As and one B. B was for stats. I don't like math.
hey, just thought you should know that these tips are awesome. although i’m not going to a cc, these tips are very useful and helpful. i went to a summer program in Savannah called S.C.A.D. Rising Star and I did everything that you are saying, i made friends, schedules men’s with my professors too discuss my grades, etc. thank you for posting this!
I think cc is my best option .. I want to be a writer and I don’t think I need to pursue an education further than an associates degree.. plus I can’t see myself spending another four years in school. IM NOT a school person . Lol plus a lot of the friends I have that went to four years colleges , fail, drop out and struggle .. do what works for you.
Did you go to CC then transfer to a University? I agree it's a stepping stone but classes vary in difficulty professors, depth etc..even within the CC system. I'm assuming CC probably saved you money? and prepared you for University..That's why I'm glad I chose CC first, glad to hear someone's inside view :)
To be fair, the classes you take at a community college to transfer are "general education"/introductory/survey courses. When you transfer, you're taking upper-level courses in your major, which are naturally harder. The people I know who attended a university for four years said the last two years are a lot harder and they had less time to party or socialize.
Jacqueline Yep. It's the same curriculum as someone's first two years at university. It's the same classes. I have an AA degree and will be transferring next year. I hear a lot of different answers about how much harder upper division classes are. I expect the work to be harder but hopefully not too much harder! But I know that you aren't taking any weed out classes and the classes will be much more interesting as they are your major classes in the upper division level.
In case your still confused or looking for advise. I’m the same way. I just talked to my employer and said look. I’m a student, that comes first because that’s my career. I can give you this amount of time and I’ll work as hard as possible. These discussions led me to having an awesome job as a Dental Assistant at two offices and I work at kohls and still have plenty time for school because of our conversations!
A lady who works with my teacher in talent search (a college/career study program) told me that if you go to CC and graduate with a Associate’s degree and than decide to get your bachelors at a university than they automatically have to take your credits because it’s sealed already.
I’m in my second semester at community college and I have been taking two classes per semester and I am almost 20. I have developmental disabilities that make learning hard for me. I would love to be done with College by 22, but I don’t see that happening any time soon. I also want to transfer to a 4 year college someday but it seems so far off. I’m dreading taking Math and science Classes. I also don’t feel like I’m getting anymore independent and I’m jealous of my other friends. I don’t feel like I’m getting the full experience
Hi Julia, don't worry about age girl! I'm 24 and BARELY transferring to my junior year of college to a university. Community colleges have resources that you can find where they give some students a chance to meet with counselors more often (they guide you with your classes), more time during tests and in some cases modified assignments. Programs are designed to help students succeed. If you don't like math (like me) and science there are plenty of majors that require very little math & science. Find the right major for you and good luck!! :)
NereStyle101 thank you. I think what it is that there is a stereotype or expectation in our culture that we finish high school at 18, graduate college at 22 and then we have to get a job by a certain age and be married by a certain age. I am Currently in a liberal arts program which they said is the easiest transder. I’m also jealous of my friends living it up at college. I want to pursue a communications degree. I think community college also has this negative connotation around it. Thanks for your advice!
Julia Duprey Don’t worry about stigmas people are naive about stuff so they believe them and don’t care to know more. If you want to you could only be at a CC for 2 years then transfer to a University.
You forgot to mention CC offers technical skilled trades & vocational courses which are alternative to university academics. Step into the workforce faster w/ lower student debt.
I'm an international student with Igsce and my biggest dream at the moment is to study in the US, I've done my fair share of researches to know that universities there are so expensive and I was advised to apply for a community college. I feel so lost and Ii have no idea from where to start.
Community is a great option to get your general education classes completed. They also cater very well for international studies and help with the transfer process to a four year university once you're done with your basic classes :)
You can get an associates degree, certification, or an associates to transfer degree with emphasis in communication. However your bachelor degree in mass communication is achieved in a 4 year university. If you decide to get an associates before transferring you would increase your likelihood of getting accepted to a 4 year university, and you'd probably be well versed in your field :)
Every school has additional help for students who qualify. Once they review your info they may offer additional time for assignments, more time for exams, tutoring and more.
Thank you so much for making this video! Can you do a part two? More on topics of maybe pros and cons or facts about other community colleges that actually have dorms, teams, etc? Can you talk a little slower? It got better throughout the video 😊 Over excellent points!
Personnally I'd take rate my professor with a grain of salt. Is it useful sure but actually try to see if you can talk to the professors or ask peers who you know are good reliable sources especially after your first semester at college. And if you are using assist its because you live in california not really a tip for all community college students but yeah super useful to not waste your time in CC.
This really all depends on your work ethic and major/classes. College is mostly papers and midterms, not all classes have homework but it still requires a lot of work/studying to earn good grades. While other classes are homework based and easy. The main difference between high school and college I would say is that in high school your grade is derived from so many assignments and test that you have a lot of opportunity to "raise" your grade. In College one exam can make or break your grade.
This is so true! It's all about mindset, those who plan on going on to university know they're in it for the long run so they maximize their experience.
NG Platinum That’s such a smart route to go. I went to community college straight out of high school and transferred my credits to a university, and it was the best decision I could’ve made. I took the same gen-Ed’s I would have at a 4 year, but at a cheaper rate. In the end, I personally loved the community college I attended and would’ve never left, had I had the option to pursue a 4 year degree there.
I'm crying right now i start CC in 5 days I'm 17 years old I'm very shy and I'm very afraid, I'm not ready, i can't fucking do this i wasn't even good in highschool i barely graduated highschool, and i feel like I'll just *fail* in college, I'm so unprepared i don't think i can do this.
Junko subliminals If you didn’t do so well in high school this is a great opportunity to start fresh! My advice to you is start with only a couple of classes you don’t have to take many units. This will help you adjust! And if you’re shy you’ll realize in CC it doesn’t matter. So different from high school, just focus on your grades but be friendly to others, your smile will make you more confident!
I just got registered at a community college. We had to have our SAT or ACT scores, ours tries to pretend it's not a community college. My plan is to get my AA then transfer to a University
I've been in community college for a very long time only because I was very indecisive with what I wanted to do and had no plans. I have worked in office administration, restaurant and as a barista. I've also mostly been going to school only part time. If I could go back in time I would take school more seriously from the beginning of my college career
I'm planning on going to a Community college but as an international student but I'm still confused wether I have to take the SAT's or not. I'm also planning on transferring to a University after 2 years of community college but do I have to take the SAT's? Help a gal out.
most Community Colleges have Transfer programs but most are restricted to 4 year colleges that are a part of their transfer program. Also this state department should work educationusa.state.gov/your-5-steps-us-study/apply-your-student-visa/community-college
I’m going to CC I’ve been homeschooled my whole life by my choice cause I have a busy schedule tmr is my last day of junior year and then I have summer break and then I’m a senior one fear is I’m not gonna have friends I’m 16 and everyone tells me ppl their are like 25 so is that true cause my mom said it’s easier to have friends when you go through college
No I'd say most people are under 25 lol and I'm sure you'll make friends with those who have similar interests as yours. You can have fun too, it's what you make of it. Get in and get out of CC though take your general ed and transfer as soon as you can so you can still be on track of graduating young! I wish I did the that! lol
It should be relatively easy. Many state colleges have direct "articulation agreements" with local community colleges to ensure all classes transfer (e.g. when you get to a 4-year university you will start as a Junior) and there is a smooth transition. Depending on where in the US/ world you want to study, the best way to know how easy or difficult it will be is to speak with your CC adviser as well as an adviser at the school you wish to transfer to. Overall, great work saving money at CC first! Good luck!
I'm going to go against the grain. I don't have the intellectual ability as someone from Harvard or even UCLA. That is just a fact. I have disability that impedes me from learning extremely abstract ideas. Without a dumbed down version of quantitative reasoning classes, it would basically majestic it nearly impossible to pass such classes. That's why I do attend. As a person with an invisible disability, I naturally couldn't careless about how educated or smart a person is. Anyone who belittles anyone's idea of self-worth need to re-examine their own sense of values. In the end, the need for competition is absolutely meaningless if it dues not bring up the morale and general vitality of an environment. There are environments that express healthy competition (we are capitalist after all) and then their is toxic environmental that stop of the rapid process of personal growth and development as society. Being a student is not a social identity nor is a student a race or a gender. However, when people marginaliz others based upon a sense of dominant privilege, we end up with a social problem. But what is the social problem? Although students that go to Harvard University that marginalize community college students is not exactly really a problem and just resembles adolescent behavior, the root is far deeper than "oh. I'm better than you because I went to Harvard." What we have here in the marginalizing of one's class (no, not your academic year-lol). We see this same behavior when it comes to making fun of homeless people or students who are poor and wear the same clothes everyday.. You may think that someone boasting about their education is just snotty behavior, but what they really are doing, and don't even know it about it, is attacking your social class identity. Like I said, being a college student is not a social identity and all people of various income levels go to a CC. Nevertheless, the dominant attitude of playing the popularity game is just a way people can mahe fun of your social status. Hence the behavioral patten of making fun of a person with a community college degree is the same attitude someone uses to attack someone's social class When people display dominant attitudes about ones social identity, specifically class, that us when the environment becomes toxic, just as smelly as male machoism. Yeah, giving someone a hard time about someone's educational status may seem like a a normal delinquent behavior that is absolutely harmless, but in the end is extremely toxic. It may not be as terrible as saying "hey, bumb, get a job," yet it as the same effect. If something is so toxic suchlike this, I ask myself, why do humans enjoy such unecessary boasting that belittles other people. College students generally want to do good. They want to improve society to mahe it better. Yet at the same time, they are unknowingly participating as agents of agression that marginalize other students just based on educational status. Forget about talking about race, age, gender, if they cannot even fully acknowledge a d deal with one of the easier social problems that should be EASY to discuss --- differences of class. While statements like "haha. You went to a CC," mat seem harmless, it is extremely toxic since they are making fun of your identity. That should not be tolerated. That's why I say I don't care what people may think. I am proud if my accomplishments and the challenges I had to overcome to get my associates degree. It's a victory for me. Yes, I took precalculus at my CC and I had to take 3 times. So what? Their opinion is irrelevant because in the end all that matters is my opinion because their opinions bare absolutely no weight on my decisions. Only the people that matter in my life have substance. This concludes my lecture for tonight. I have an Associates in Arts transfer degree and will obtain a certificate in visual communications.
Each school has prerequisites if you want transfer, it depends on what school you're trying to get into and what major. Of course if you get your general ed out of the way as fast as possible you can cut your time at a CC.
Depends... 18 credits usually isn’t enough universities will start asking for things like sats or high school transcripts if you have under 40 transfer credits
I'm not sure if it works for all states? I would find a campus with a similar major to get a good idea of what you need and ask your counselor for help
Have a 4.05 GPA here and going to CC. It's about saving money man.

Briana Marshall totally agree!
Thank this was my situation
thank you! literally my situation! i did get accepted to some universities, the problem is, is that i’m still at the bottom level of building myself back up which is why i’m going to CC.
You will do just fine! Make sure to ask for help when you need and stay motivated :)
Did you graduate cc yet ?
Baz 98 me as well😭😭
Don't worry, I am in the same situation
How did you do?
Im going to cc for two years then Im transferring to a university. I am going to major in software engineering! I start this fall lol
Good Luck! :)
Jose Morales how’s it going bro? R your credits good?
why u dont drct go to uni .
share some reason behind it
@@lgsushil2493 im probably going to do the same for two reasons
1. Finance. While my peers are going on snapchat drinking and smiling,im going to be smiling when i only need to pay 20,000 after college.
2. Colleges are very liberal and it will be a lot of strees trying not to trigger anyone by breathing
@@lgsushil2493 for starters is expensive asl !
That's awesome that you're going back with a different mindset. Good luck! :)
im a senior in high school & it was really difficult for me all four years because of family problems & similar things so my gpa ended up being really low to get into a four year college and also the money too. however, im still nervous about going to a cc & i really needed this. thank you !
CC will be a great fresh start for you. Just remember, get in and out! :)
NereStyle101 thank you very much !
Spot on! Community colleges like my own are doctorates from USC, Harvard, etc. I was shocked at the caliber of professors I had in a community college.
Same!
That is a very smart choice :) Stay focused on your path!
Get all the guidance you can from your sister, good luck!
Saaaame I overthink it a lot
hope things panned out like you planned
These tips are great!!! Being in community college for so long these are things I wish I knew prior to getting sucked in the hole of community college
Me too! I wish I could go back in time and tell myself all these things lol
Loved this! I'm thinking about going to community college
Bye, doll.
Thanks for such a sweet comment
Tip number 3 is RIGHT ON!
Damn that’s rough bro! I’m also going to CCC so GL!
I have similar stats, and I’m applying to colleges this year but I’m considering cc for the sake of cost :)
Glad to hear this tips thanks so much 👍👍 can't wait till I start my community college. But I'm so low key nervous
Good Luck to you!
I went to an amazing community college. I was in cc for two year and was able to be into a great private school. I have very little debt and I am proud of going to a community college.
can i know the name of the cc?
@@lisalisaaaaa I went to Ivy Tech Community College. I only have 14k in debt. For a first generation college, I am proud of myself.
Excellent presentation! Thank you for the great information...
100% agree
I'll be attending Miami Dade college this fall. It is allowing to save for graduate school, I'm practically getting paid to attend.
zozo coco me too😁
When you said it pisses you off, I couldn't really imagine that as your voice is so sweet and innocent sounding.
Thank you! Glad you agree
Im going to a Career College! I'm focusing on medical assisting, typing, and thought patterns which is psychology! I started last Thursday. I can't wait for Monday because I already made 2 friends and I love the teachers!
Happy for you!
I know it's early for me to think about these things but it's good to know :)
Much appreciated.
Haha thanks! Your comment gave me hope and it motivated me to succeed.
Good luck in your studies! Have a nice day :)
How is CC going for you?
I think the reason why some people look down on CC is because the acceptance rate is 100%
I’m in the end of my junior year, I’m so afraid of going to college.
I'm going to cc, and I swear I don't know how to make a class schedule or find where to sign up for orentation.
Every system is different but similar. The process of applying to school, registering for classes, paying due fees and petitioning for classes can seem like a lot but take it step by step.
10 Years For Murder Don't be afraid to call admissions for any questions lol not like they'll know who you are if you ask a "dumb" question
I wish I had known all of this in my first year of cc. I'll only be going to a big university for one year because my school has a 3+1 nursing program. It's weird going to a cc for that long, but I will save so much money in the long run.
Yes, you saved a ton of money this way! and same girl I wish I did all the right things from the start. Good luck to you in your nursing journey
Thank you! I'm glad you liked them! Sounds like you were off to a great start, I wish I did the same thing from the get-go.
I’m a really shy person! I need to smile more 😢 I wanna go back to college but I get social anxiety attacks. Imma try my best :)
You can do it! if you smile and make eye contact people are more likely to talk to you :)
Can u upload more video about community college I am planning to go community college then transfer university btw you look gorgeous.
I think cc is my best option .. I want to be a writer and I don’t think I need to pursue an education further than an associates degree.. plus I can’t see myself spending another four years in school. IM NOT a school person . Lol plus a lot of the friends I have that went to four years colleges , fail, drop out and struggle .. do what works for you.
i went to both University and CC. CC is definitely easier. It's highschool for grownups. CC is meant to be a stepping stone for a higher education.
Javier Enriquez yup definitely pros and cons. If anything I think the competition and drive is much more clear in University. Mindset is everything.
To be fair, the classes you take at a community college to transfer are "general education"/introductory/survey courses. When you transfer, you're taking upper-level courses in your major, which are naturally harder. The people I know who attended a university for four years said the last two years are a lot harder and they had less time to party or socialize.
Yes I definitely agree with you!
Jacqueline Yep. It's the same curriculum as someone's first two years at university. It's the same classes. I have an AA degree and will be transferring next year. I hear a lot of different answers about how much harder upper division classes are. I expect the work to be harder but hopefully not too much harder! But I know that you aren't taking any weed out classes and the classes will be much more interesting as they are your major classes in the upper division level.
thank you for the advice
I go to cc and my major is professional baking and pastry :)) i graduate next year yeet
I'm planning to go the same route :D
I’m taking 18 semesters credits in cc. That’s a full time student. I need a job. I start Monday any advice?
In case your still confused or looking for advise. I’m the same way. I just talked to my employer and said look. I’m a student, that comes first because that’s my career. I can give you this amount of time and I’ll work as hard as possible. These discussions led me to having an awesome job as a Dental Assistant at two offices and I work at kohls and still have plenty time for school because of our conversations!
Great advice!
I’m dreading taking
Math and science Classes.
I am
Currently in a liberal arts program which they said is the easiest transder.
Nebucrestent thank you. At this rate I will be at CC for more than two years.
@@Julianicholasduprey all you have to worry about is the debt and when you graduate that you will have a job in the major you studied for .
Thank you.
Hope you have a good day.
I want to major in (mass) communication, can't I get my degree from a community college or do I have to transfer?
You can get an associates degree, certification, or an associates to transfer degree with emphasis in communication. However your bachelor degree in mass communication is achieved in a 4 year university. If you decide to get an associates before transferring you would increase your likelihood of getting accepted to a 4 year university, and you'd probably be well versed in your field :)
NereStyle101 what about freshman engineering?
thanks for the tips applying this week for community college
It seams rediculus that students who choose not to take on outrageous debt are forced to apologize for their colleges. Hi from Russia.
No ones forcing you to apologize, just thinking in their heads that you should
Hi I’m from the U.S.
(One married couple I know is upset that I want to go to community college and upset anyway that I’m going to be a teacher lol)
What advice would you give for slow learners who have anxiety? Im kinda scared tbh.
I'm in the same situation.
Every school has additional help for students who qualify. Once they review your info they may offer additional time for assignments, more time for exams, tutoring and more.
I’d argue that community college is more competitive. A lot of careers offered at community college are very selective and very specialized.
i agree. i’m taking my prerequisites for a very selective and competitive program. they only accept 14-15 students and im so nervous!
Great video. I totally get the weird face whenever I say I’m going to community college 🙃
Thank you so much for making this video! Can you do a part two? More on topics of maybe pros and cons or facts about other community colleges that actually have dorms, teams, etc? Can you talk a little slower? It got better throughout the video 😊 Over excellent points!
I'm thinking about going to community college.
Thank you for this it was helpful
Personnally I'd take rate my professor with a grain of salt. Is it useful sure but actually try to see if you can talk to the professors or ask peers who you know are good reliable sources especially after your first semester at college. And if you are using assist its because you live in california not really a tip for all community college students but yeah super useful to not waste your time in CC.
I am currently in Community college. I wanted to go to college that is near my place.
This was so helpful!!
Thank you so much
Can you do another video on the load work in college vs in high school and the gradung system
NereStyle101 oooof
Lol I've been alone for so many years now. I suck.

I have to go community college bc no one won’t accept me at unvi. 1. I because my scores 2. My gpa is low. 3rd my dream college shut me down
Where you go at community college?
Someone told
Me that in community college no one speaks to you but If you plan on going to a university apparently it’s a lot more fun
This is so true! It's all about mindset, those who plan on going on to university know they're in it for the long run so they maximize their experience.
Is it like highschool, or do people talk to each other less than at highschool?
I'm so glad I found your channel! Great Video & Advice. #NewSubbie
Great video thanks
Im going to a community college, but like when do I sign up for classes?...
After you apply you will receive step by step instructions that guide you through the steps of orientation, registration and more by email.
i wanna go to a community college and transfer to a university
NG Platinum That’s such a smart route to go. I went to community college straight out of high school and transferred my credits to a university, and it was the best decision I could’ve made. I took the same gen-Ed’s I would have at a 4 year, but at a cheaper rate. In the end, I personally loved the community college I attended and would’ve never left, had I had the option to pursue a 4 year degree there.
Thank you! Very helpful
Thanks!
Such a great video 😊
Oh God. I feel you so much. Im barely passing my high school. Its scary. How are things now?
Is there an assist website for students outside of california ?
I just got registered at a community college. We had to have our SAT or ACT scores, ours tries to pretend it's not a community college. My plan is to get my AA then transfer to a University
nice
how long did you stay in community college and what was your job?
I've been in community college for a very long time only because I was very indecisive with what I wanted to do and had no plans. I have worked in office administration, restaurant and as a barista. I've also mostly been going to school only part time. If I could go back in time I would take school more seriously from the beginning of my college career
When you transfer is it hard to get the "college experience"?
Definitely not! The transfer students have a great time in university as well you will see :)
Is bakersfield a good college for international students
I don't know specific on schools sorry. But I recommend doing your research beforehand!
I'm planning on going to a Community college but as an international student but I'm still confused wether I have to take the SAT's or not. I'm also planning on transferring to a University after 2 years of community college but do I have to take the SAT's? Help a gal out.
I can't say this for sure but I BELIEVE SAT scores are not required for CC even if you're an international student.
so if i were to transfer to a University after CC, they won't require SAT scores?
most Community Colleges have Transfer programs but most are restricted to 4 year colleges that are a part of their transfer program.
I wish I did the that! lol
thank you :)
Heeey, awesome video 👌🏽👌🏽
Is Computer information systems a good major ? Or your recommend Computer Science better option .
Sorry I wouldn't know. I'd suggest looking at onetonline.org and researching what degree is more prominent for the field you are looking into.
FACTS !!!!
Just wanna ask, but what eyeshadow are you wearing in this vid?
Ah I filmed this over a year ago but I believe it was the Naked 2 basics palette :P
Does cc have soccer sport
Yes they do!
Ok thanks! But is it indoor or outdoor
@@emmanuelbeauport1966 Depends on where you live and location/weather. All my CCs around me in Cali have an outdoor field :)
Ok thanks
Did you go after high school and also did you graduate on time
I took a semester off and I'm now transferring to a university. so I'm still on my way :)
print("helloword")
Does your SAT score matter of you want to transfer to a University later on?
No CC don't look at SAT scores.
Is transferring to a university after the 2 years easy ? Or hard ?
Kies AbuShalfeh look on your CC site for the 2+2 agreement with nearby state schools.
Depending on your lifestyle and how many classes you can fit into your schedule
It should be relatively easy. Many state colleges have direct "articulation agreements" with local community colleges to ensure all classes transfer (e.g. when you get to a 4-year university you will start as a Junior) and there is a smooth transition. Depending on where in the US/ world you want to study, the best way to know how easy or difficult it will be is to speak with your CC adviser as well as an adviser at the school you wish to transfer to. Overall, great work saving money at CC first! Good luck!
2:23??
Are you going to make more videos? I'm considering of subscribing, but if you're not going to make new videos I rather not.
I'm better than you because I went to Harvard."
What we have here in the marginalizing of one's class (no, not your academic year-lol).
Hence the behavioral patten of making fun of a person with a community college degree is the same attitude someone uses to attack someone's social class
When people display dominant attitudes about ones social identity, specifically class, that us when the environment becomes toxic, just as smelly as male machoism.
I have an Associates in Arts transfer degree and will obtain a certificate in visual communications.
can I transfer after one year if I do 18 credits in fall and then in spring.
The website has my college but not the right campus
I'm not sure if it works for all states? I would find a campus with a similar major to get a good idea of what you need and ask your counselor for help
