In the early 1990s i somehow got Joe’s phone number - this was pre internet. I called him from California for some replacement pickup advice. He spent at least 20 mins on the phone with me (an unknown, non-customer) trying to figure out what I was looking for. Finally we decided on a Barden Danny Gatton tele pickup. I asked about return policy if I needed to. He said ‘hey I’ll just send it for you to try. If you like it pay me.’ No cc deposit, just shipped it to me. Obviously I’ve never forgotten his kindness, knowledge and excellent customer service.
Hey man, I’m not much for commenting but suddenly feel a bit compelled. We’re getting to witness an exceptional guitar talent, working (making money that is, there are a lot of guitar talent that don’t), working at a very high level, in the world of professional musicians. There’s nothing else like this on TH-cam or anywhere. And I might add that watching Larry, near the peak of his powers, is really fun to watch. Oh, and how much is he charging? ZERO! You’ve got to be commended sir. I hope you’re getting as much out of this as your followers are. Thanks so much, and always looking forward to the next video.
Nobody's doing backstage stuff because they haven't reached that level of success and never will. Most of the other guitar channels are just guys waiting for gear to come to their door. So so boring.
@@stringlocker Tommy’s coming from a place of authenticity re gear. He’s probably used just about everything and had 2nd gear for a while. He doesn’t need to schill for manufacturers- if he uses it he’s pretty straight about his experience
Man my life is such a depressing mess I would give anything to just spend a few hours with a guy like you on guitar safari and then a burger and maybe a little playing. I used to own a music store years ago and do that with my buddy and business partner every few weeks. Times are very tough now. Sold the store. My buddy died of cancer at 42. I still play everyday for a few minutes. Build amps, pedals and wind my own pickups just for myself. But I'm always alone now. Your videos sooth my musical soul. It's amazing how much you can take something for granted. Thanks Uncle Larry. I appreciate you man. I really appreciate you........
Joe is such an awesome guy! I’m a nobody from muscle Shoals Alabama and the first time I brought a guitar to get plek’d, Joe took the time to introduce himself and showed me the plek machine and how it works. Carried on a convo for a good 15-20min. Would have thought I was Tom Bukovac walking in there! Says alot about the guy.
It's so cool living in Nashville and being able to bring my guitars to Glasers, where the stars get their work done (I can barely play guitar). The guys are all so nice - Nick treats nobodies like me just as nicely as he does Tom. And Joe will pull you into random interesting discussions from time to time. Just the best guys around.
Joe Glaser, for those of you who don't know, was the one who installed the B-Bender on Jimmy Page's red Les Paul, extensively used on his shows with the Crowes
Great to see the lair of real craftsmen. I only wish more people cared to have a little passion about what they do, regardless of their trade. Very cool peek behind the scenes Tommy
Joe put one of his benders into my Tele a while back. I was only in town for the day and he did the whole thing in a few hours for me. He gave me and my pals a tour of the place and treated us like we were "somebodies" which we weren't/aren't. He's top notch in my book. And my friend Chris Tapp says Nick is the best setup man in Nashville. Thanks for sharing!
I met Joe in 1980 when he was playin a club with Ray Kennedy . He built my Lap Strat, which I wore out in late 80's early 90's.He built Ricky Skagg's string bender Mandolin . Both instruments worth their weight in gold.
I just had my Savvy installed on my SG junior and it's everything I could have hoped for. In pitch up the neck for the first time. I submitted my review to Music City and wanted to personally say thank you, Tom. THANK YOU!
This was cool to "visit" Joe's shop, which I'll probably never actually get to do. I have one of his "three tree" string retainers on one of my strats, what a cool idea, cleans up the headstock too.
Oh, Uncle Larry you are a very fortunate man. To have a shop like that where i live, well....they might have to put a cot in the corner for me....thanks for taking us along on your lunch break.
Man, really drives it home how Nashville is such a great place to be hanging and making music. Us LA guitar players are so envious. Excellent 2nd unit cam work too! :)
Mannnnn what I would give to be apart of that friendship you have with such wonderful and talented people! Love the videos Uncle Tom, us middle of the run guitar players are living vicariously through you brother, cheers to keeping the beat the faith and the good times rollin 👌🏼
Uncle Larry - thanks again for you devotion to our community…these videos are entertaining, fun and always engaging. God Bless you man. Have a great weekend. As always ~Sean
Always feel totally inspired to lavish praise, always read it back and come off as a total dolt, so I’ll just leave it at thank you for what you’re doing here. Timely, this one. Recently reached out to Music City Bridge RE left handed units, yep, “that guy”, present. Joshua and I have exchanged a few emails, what a kind individual. Very reasonable minimum piece count for a run / preorders, can’t cover the spread on my own with 3 in the cart, so scheming on a plan….
Bryan - wear a seatbelt - we need you playing guitar! This is a great video on so many levels - Joe Glaser clearly a genius guitar maker making for genius guitar players.
Most excellent...almost like being there myself, hanging out. Tom, thanks for turning me onto those Music City wrap-around bridges. It's turned my Junior from a beast, into a BEAST!!! And I've been using their tele 3-string trees for a couple years now. Bless Joe and all the gang...you gotta love folks who make shit that works.
Every single guitar guy worth his nut driver know the name "Glaser." It takes Uncle Larry to show us where all this genius work, repair and design gets done! Music City Bridge! "100% Bukovac," says Joe Glaser! Gotta love that, eh Uncle Larry? Thanks for the tour!
Super field trip mate very educational. You get a big +1 for our skool bus that mummy will get us anywhere we need to be. The wee lathe in the workshop brings back nightmares to me I'll bet there's a 0.0015" taper over 3' travel. Thanks for taking the time all. 👍👍👍🥃Respect to you mate.
Great video … love seeing you cats just doing your thing. Sutton is my flat picking hero and cool to see he’s just a regular guy hanging out with Uncle Larry.
Great video. Joe Glaser, Nick and those guys are the BEST at what they do. I was there a couple months back to pick up a repair. These guys including Joe took the time to welcome me in , show me the facility and talk about what was done to my guitar. I endured a broken headstock on a Les Paul. the repair was flawless. It made the guitar neck stiffer and even better acoustically. Do not hesitate, where ever you live, to send these guys your work. It is all first class.
I put three string trees on all my Fenders they'd fit on (BEFORE I started watching your channel!) it took me AGES to realise it was the same Music City Bridge guys! Such a brilliant and simple idea. 🙌
Gold…pure gold. Thanks Tom, Bryan, Nick and Joe. An amazingly enjoyable and informative video….so much to learn. Tom, you are elevating the music industry interview game. Thank you so much
Sending my Tele to Glaser for a G-bender was one of the best things I’ve ever done. Getting married, having kids, and laser eye surgery are the others. Putting a Music City bridge on my LP Jr. is a very close runner up. Makes a Junior into a BEAST.
Usually Home Skoolin' inspires me to play guitar after I finish watching. This episode is inspiring me to take a couple of guitars that need work over to the music shop today. I've been procrastinating on that for too long.
I just had Nick re-fret a '60 tele. There were only a few people in the world I would have trusted to do it. Their work is incredible and they are incredibly accommodating and nice.

Joe’s really stepped up his lunch game! When I was working at Glaser he would bring turkey neck soup in a recycled cottage cheese container 😆

My biggest dream is to visit usa and play bluegrass with them locals. I love i get to see the views abit!
There is NOBODY doing this type of backstage video content on YT! Hypnotic and riveting and yet it’s just a day in the life of Uncle Larry.
I'm hoping for a strip club field trip.
Guthrie Trapp is starting to do some backstage stuff, but nothing like this.
Uncle Larry has a way of getting guys to talk.

Was Don Henley crabby to you too? Lol!!!
“Where do you make the actual meth?” Comedy gold sir. Comedy gold.
And thanks for that great field trip Uncle Larry!
Uncle Larry!! thank you for bringing me on the field trip even though I forgot my permission slip
My Mom wouldn’t sign mine. She thinks Uncle Larry is a bad influence on me.😎
@@tomcoryell oh man, she found out that we drink beers on the school bus?
Haha, that was a spot on George Gruhn impression.
I love the deep dives into the day-to-day stuff Uncle Larry deals with. Thanks for sharing Tom.
I need people like you in my life.. thanks uncle larry man!
Great camera work Bryan Sutton D28!
Uncle Larry’s candidness is his most endearing attribute

The new shiny object on every TH-cam channel is the fender American Vintage 2. Did they send you one. LOL

I can watch pro plumbers work, and I don't care about plumbing. Watching gurus of guitar do their thing was a blast. Thanks for doing this!
Truly music city. Just a short drive past very nondescript buildings yet there is so much music happening behind those walls. Awesome!
I met Joe in 1980 when he was playin a club with Ray Kennedy . He built my Lap Strat, which I wore out in late 80's early 90's.He built Ricky Skagg's string bender Mandolin . Both instruments worth their weight in gold.
Lol! I love how you volunteer Bryan to hold the phone during the drive and he ends up shooting half the video 😂
Civilization didn't know it was still out there. Thanks for the ride man.😎
Class trips were always my thing. Thanks Tom!!
Uncle Larry is having fun with his life while giving back to the music community. Awesome stuff, I really enjoy the show. Thank you
Doctors and lawyers with magnifying glasses! Too true.
Hey Tom, That's my Melancon Telecaster that Nick is re fretting on his bench, while your there, pay my bill too, lol. Great field trip!!!
Gerard was a great gentleman.
@@martinaddison4880 yes, he certainly was, sadly missed.

Thanks for the trip uncle Larry! Can we get ice cream now? Please!
Meth lab! I'm dying. Great shit, Tom.
That felt like when a movie like The Revenant does a long single take from one place to another, except for guitar repairs! : )
This was cool to "visit" Joe's shop, which I'll probably never actually get to do. I have one of his "three tree" string retainers on one of my strats, what a cool idea, cleans up the headstock too.

Love this stuff Tom!! Thanks for sharing with us!!
Berry Hill Chiro! 😭😭😭I miss them so much! Robin is my dear friend! She ROCKS!
You should start Uncle Larry’s Nashville Music Scene Tour as a side hustle. I’d travel to Nashville for that!
