    This was a priceless interview with Joe! You couldn't have pried me away from my computer while I was watching this interview. The fact that thus far it has only been viewed 170 times and I am the very first to comment should be a sin! You guys seriously need to get the word out. Joe is an incredibly interesting man as well as an ace repairman. When he mentioned 'Complete Guitar Repair' by Hideo Kamimoto I almost fell out of my chair! That's the exact book I bought in the mid 70's that gave me my foundation for guitar repair.

    Awesome insight from Joe. I remember hanging out some in his little hole-in-the-wall area in the back of Corner Music back in the mid-80's. I had scalloped a strat neck on my own for fun and to use. I brought it to him to show him and he was impressed that I had pulled it off. He was always helpful.

    I would love to hear the after the flood story. I was blessed to meet Joe through Chris Camp at a NAMM show long ago who worked with Joe at the picken parlor, and it was one of the highlights of my life. Joe you are a great man.

    Brilliant visionaries are not satisfied with status quo. There are leaders who continually want to do better and look for the resources to do so, and then there are the leaders who continually want to do better and create the resources to do so (Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, Joe Glaser, etc.). Joe's mind is on a different level. I believe he would have revolutionized whatever industry he pursued- it just happened to be guitar lutherie and repair.

    It doesn’t surprise me that Joe went to Stanford. You guys left out inventor, and innovator. His client list reads like the rock, country, fusion Hall of Fame.
    An incredibly humble and self deprecating, gifted individual, who gives new meaning to customer service. The gold standard.

      It's a mechanism where you push down on the neck and it activates a lever that bends one of the guitar strings. Check out Marty Stuart or Clarence White.

    what is a string bender?
    Apart from the person playing the guitar...who bends strings.

    • @MrMd5555
      @MrMd5555 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm certainly not the guy to try and explain what a string bender is but basically it's a little mechanism usually on the b string or g string (or both) along with a spring that is routed through the body & usually attached to the strap button, while playing if you 'lever'/ pull the guitar downward it bends only the string in which the mech is attached to to imitate steel guitar licks & such. Think along the lines of a one string whammy bar/ tremelo just to get a general idea... it's probably easiest to just do a you tube search and watch a demonstration
