this is why i love the chromatic scale. 3 of the 4 notes are likely to be in the key you're in. plus it sounds super cool and ultra fast. anyway, i cant recall if it was marty friendman or paul gilbert, but one of them said basically it doesn't matter which notes you play, it only matters which note you land on. that's the one that impresses everyone.
I broke it down to just One pattern...one octive at a time. I had to keep it simple and easy like that..I was just a kid..I knew the 5 jigsaw patterns...but couldnt navigate will, yet..or make music out of it. Example..The A root ( octive) at D string 7th fret....it's the same pattern it's just an octive higher and 2 frets up...so it's the same concept if I start at the NUT or 12 fret..play 2 octives...shift my hand when I get to the octive...it's the same pattern, it's just when playing on the B string..it shift UP a fret...it's simple. I can make music out of that.lol But I also practice doing triads on 2 strings...( Randy Rhodes , Iron maiden type of riffs) I simply practice it ..whatever triads for the 7 different chords. Plus ..you wernt shiet if you couldnt play Eruptions..it is what it is...you had to play eruptions at guitar center.lmao So in a way I was already used to playing melody riffs/lines ..Changing or harmonizing over chord changes ..Not during a solo..even if I was playing only rhythm. Playing lead was just an extension of that.. come on man....Malstien came out when I was only 16..You had to learn how to play fast..it sucked becuase there wasnt much informations back when... but we learn all the different solo by ear...broke the cassettes tape from having to rewind a couple thousands times.lmao
Thank you friend! Your method is WISDOM...
Love is in your genes!🙏🔑✌️
