There's rarely a video that gains my undivided attention and that opens my eyes like this one. Thank you so much!

Every time I'm watching your video before sleeping I have to jump out of my bed and pick my guitar. Claus - I love the fact you are more obsessed about motivation rather than sharing skills - the key is motivation to get results over the time, it is not about 'understanding' something you'll forget tomorrow..
Regardless of the topic, the technics, the knowledge you are sharing - I'm always receiving the energy through the bits of my laptop.
Thank you for that, I'll stay tune!

I think I find myself pretty firmly rooted in group number two. But I definitely am trying to utilize group number three’s philosophy of project-based progress. Great lesson.

Agree 100% I took all last winter of just legato practise and can now fly around pretty smoothly and in time. Not perfect yet, but getting better.

Love the pep talks and encouragement, always makes me want to pick up my guitar and refocus. Cheers

Yes exactly, after a while I´m feeling demotivated, because the progress is so slow, but after a new video from Claus, I immediately want to practice!

In group 2 and was soooo proud of my routine, I never understood why my progress has been pathetic. It all makes sense now thanks man

The third method is how I learned to draw. I sat down and picked an artist whose work I liked, and I drew that stuff over and over until I could do it off the top of my head, and then I kept doing it. I've been doing this with the guitar, and the only hiccup has been waiting for my hands to adjust to playing. I'm now proficient enough to thoroughly mess up a song, but I know how I messed it up.

The guitar is a multifaceted instrument and rather than spending a little time on a lot of different techniques try and make one technique and make that your goal. Like the practice of alternate picking on one string accenting the first note of every triplet, or group of 4 or 5 notes and working with the metronome! You can still progress on playing songs, melodies, and lead guitar improvisation with the different modes etcetera.. but if alternate picking is the, " Lead objective " then a more focused approach is necessary.

I've been group 3 from the start. Ukulele beginning just over 2 years ago. Currently working on Voice Leading and Chord Soloing with Guitar. I sing all the time when playing and that helped jump the gap

Totally agree. I was in the first group when I started playing, then ended up stopping for many years. Picked it up again and moved a little more into the second group. Now I am a bit in group 2 and 3. When I write a song, I always put something in it that is a weakness in my playing that I want to develop. This forces me to focus to develop that area to the point I can play it in the song.

Watching u since October 2018, u absolutely change my guitar routine, and by ur FREE videos, i've become too much better...Improvising, speed, melody building, ways to reach n point....BIG thx for that! I would like to buy some of ur program, but can't choose what i'm need specifically for unlimited harmonic minor runs at high speed like u or someone from Sweden, what can u recommend? (would like alternate economy picking using sometimes pull on/off, legato for some targets...)

My only concern with group 3 is that when you choose one thing to focus on do you get behind in all the other things? For instance, if you focus on changing difficult chirds for sveral months only, the next time you go to do some alternate picking, won't your speed qnd accuracy have suffered?

This is an amazing lesson. One I needed to hear bc I'm in the second group and thought I was doing everything right. I see and totally agree with your opinion on the matter. Subscribed and binge watching your videos

I write music and record. I tend to write songs that push me beyond my present capability on guitar. So my "projects" are developing the skills I need for the songs, whether to perform the solos I hear in my head or otherwise. I used to be a dabbler, but I have found that focusing on the song at hand really helps push my guitar playing ability forward.

I know this might sound dumb. But where is The creativity and inivation in group 3 when you practice The same thing for 2 months? Does it come after The practice period? Or is it like 80/20 rule where 80% of The time is on The project?.

Thanks for the reminder Claus! I'm halfway 2nd and 3rd; practising about 4 weeks before moving on to the next challenge. I feel sorry for my lady; she's suffering from my annoying 'play'. She: "can't you play anything else but those freakin' same notes?", me: "no, I can't" :D

I can’t play any chords , so if I was to practice only one chord , or even three chords , exclusively , for two months straight , wouldn’t that drive me insane ? Would appreciate response , thank you

If you can't play any chords this video isn't really aimed at you. This channel is mostly for intermediate guitarists
