  • In this video I troubleshoot the electrical, stator, and coil. I rewire the complete stator, and repair grounds on the coil. Check the charging output of the 6 volt system. First start of the 1975 Suzuki TS-250.

    What a win Dale, nothing like the sweet two stroke smell of success. I wonder what did it? As you mentioned, the paint on the frame has to be a suspect and the resistor cap could have contributed.
    Thanks very much for the shout out to my channel and to my brother. I'm very proud to call you a friend and to be part of this global restoration/machining community that we seem to have become.

      I think you are right Dean, no change on the ohm readings on the stator, it has to be the grounding of the coil or the cap. This is the second one that I lucked out on. Is my luck running out? Thanks for your support.

    I had a beautiful 1969 TS 250 that had an electrical problem for several years. It started about 8 or 9 years after I bought it. I took it to 4 different shops, no luck. I was living in southern New Mexico then. I took it to Jaurez, Mexico. One of the mechanics at the last US shop I took it to suggested I take it to his Uncle's shop in Juarez. I did, he fixed it in about 7 hours.

      Thanks John, those RV125 and 90's, were cool. I remember working at the Suzuki shop and getting to ride one once and a while. Man those big tires howl on the pavement. Lots of folks think these filters are upside down. It has an arrow embossed into the plastic and its pointing toward the carb. Whatever you did, she sounds great! With using the non resistor plug cap, do you need to use a resistor plug and vise versa? Or does none of that matter beyond the potential interference with radios etc?

    • @montana2strokeracer

      Hey Kyle, thanks man. No, you don't need any of that stuff. Your neighbors may hate you, but it eliminates a lot of problems. Hard to find non resistor plugs these days. I think the main thing is not to use a resistor cap with the resistor plugs. Thats just too much resistance. Thanks for hanging out in the shop with me.

    Hello Dale, I have 75 ts250 just like this one i was wondering if your ts250 has 2 yellow with red tracer coming out of the main wiring harness back from the headlight. As i do and one is a thicker gauge wire than the other and i assume one hooks into the yellow with red that comes up from the magneto but i was wondering if that other one goes into that same wire as well. Nothing has been added to the harness its original untouched until just under the seat these wires were cut and the bullet connectors were not on them anymore. The only extra wires i have other then that is the brown and green one you mentioned that are supposed to be extras. Thank you for putting up these videos they are great!!

    • @montana2strokeracer
      @montana2strokeracer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, mine has one yellow with red, and one yellow. They both hook to the same colors under the seat. Looks like both go to the magneto. The yellow Y's off and think it goes to the rectifier.

  • @abbotthoffman2246
    @abbotthoffman2246 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those extra wires the green and white, brown , maybe an orange aswell. wire is so when your battery is apt to over charge. You diconne t the lead w/g wire and connect it without the colour tube from the connection with the air tube to the one without it make sense? It helped for me if you can visualize just switching connections. You might not have it on bikes with more basic wiring ???
