This is great Øystien! I remember the first time I viewed your Czardas video and it blew me away. I quite enjoyed hearing your insight on your approach to this piece. Hope all is well over in Norway!
It is GREAT!!! that you play an EEb tuba, and sound so great on it. I have 4 tubas, a BBb, two CC's and a EEb. I really prefer playing the EEb, because it can play down to EEE (E0), and with a good warmup, up to Bb5 on my EEb, not so much on the others. Mine is a Meinl Weston 2141L. (BTW, I'm 82 years "young" and have now played (or attempted to) since I was 10 years old. Maybe if I keep working on it, I'll get it right some day.
@@Quickness_Fitness thanks, I actually didn't know that was a "signature" tuba. But still curious why in the key of Eb. As far as my limited F playing goes its much more normal to play on F for a soloist.
The tuba I play is a standard Miraphone starlight e-flat tuba. The only difference is that I can remove the bell, and fold down the valves. Besides from that it is a stock model. I like e flat because it has a great power in the lower register but also clarity in the higher register.
@@tubaad Mr. Baadsvik, Thank you for the explanation! I hope to someday play on an Eb and see whats it's like! My current F doesn't seem to achieve the same tuba qualities of sound, it is a small F... I've always loved your tone, and I know its mostly just your skill level, but also super cool to know you play an Eb! Thanks for inspiring and pushing the tuba community!! ~you should do a piano and tuba video of Oblivion by Piazzolla :p -Jack
Hey Oystein, as a student player I haven’t heard much about the higher and lower registers you and others refer to, can you recommend any places to learn more about them? I play on a BBb tuba and was wondering if I can even reach them at my level. Thanks for being an inspiration
"It's not that difficult" - Oystein Baadsvik

Hey Mr. Baadsvik, I was curious what made you choose Eb tuba over F. Tone, keys, or is it just the epic starlight?
that instrument was nade specifically for him
@@Quickness_Fitness but why did he choose the Eb over the F?

I swear the moment I can play this 80 times slower I will truly become a tuba lord
Well...playing long tones on a tuba for 6 hours and 40 minutes actually WOULD be quite an achievement!!! ;-)
1:33 please what do you mean by "pdf section above"?
I don’t think I’m good enough to play this yet but love the video
Is it possible to play it on a Bb tuba?
Of course it is. Maybe you should play in a different key, but it is definitely possible.
@@tubaad OMG you really answered me I can't believe! Well, I'm going to study it right now
Is it possible for a Bb Tuba?
