    thanks for the great video, can we use it as reamp box has it like that option or we still need to have a reamp box?

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My pleasure. I don't see it as a reamp box as it is designed to absorb a load form an amplifier and give you a DI signal that you can record. The only inputs it has are speaker inputs. So that should give you your answer right there...Thanks for checking it out!!

      Thank you! Glad you found me. Yes, the Captor 8 is an awesome recording tool. Even with the captor X on the market. With WOS you get all of the cab options and you can mix and match post recording. For the money its a stellar unit...

    Good review. I’m waiting for mine this week from Sweetwater. Wished you talked a little about the 20db attenuation and cab response. Thanks

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thnx. It's a great unit. My application for it is direct recording so I never really use the attenuation feature. The built in cab is good for quicky stuff but I always use WOS for the final tone. Enjoy yours!

  • @robbieandkimberly
    @robbieandkimberly หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Is the cab simulations strictly for the line outs that go to the recording devices or could you also use the Sims for the attenuated signal that goes to the real speaker cabinet to give it a different sound?
    Great video, thank you 👍

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You never want to put a sim into a real cab unless it’s an frfr cab. It is switchable on and off for all outputs.

    I've been a TwoNotes user for 6 years. I also Use a Line6 Helix basically to ru my entire studio. I must say that the integration between the two creates some stellar results. By using a captor to "tame" my amps and a VB-101 for speaker sim I can take a ton of processing load off the helix which enables me to make some pretty sophisticated patches. Great Vid btw. 👍

      I am using Helix Native with Logic Pro and no matter what I do I still feel that my 'amps' sound fizzy and artificial. I have some nice amps but they seldom work their way into my home studio recordings. If I were to use the TwoNotes with a real amp going into my DAW, and then use the DAW (with Helix Native) to add effects, would it sound considerably better and get me back that analog amp sound that I am missing?

    • @ericharbauer
      @ericharbauer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PJ-ee5mc IMHO theres nothing like plugging straight into a tube amp. As I mentioned above I use helix for effects and a two notes for cab sim and occasionally power amp sim if im using a tube preamp and not an amp head. for me this gives me the feel I like.

      @@ericharbauer: I still have one problem that plagues me and is part of the reason why I am going to try the TwoNotes unit. Since you also use Helix you might have an opinion on this as I am at my wits end: If I play a simple audio track (maybe a backing track for example that I've dragged into my DAW) and I listen to it through my power amp and NS-10 speakers it sounds great, as does the separate guitar track as I play along and monitor through Helix Native and out of my DAW. No problem there. At night I like to do the very same thing via my beautiful Sennheiser HD650 headphones. Here's the problem: The backing track still sounds great, virtually the same as it is from the speakers but now the guitar sounds terrible. It was great coming out of the speakers but now its thin, artificial, fizzy through the headphones. It would be one thing if they both sounded bad but how could one still sound good while the other sounds terrible? I can't get my head around this.

    How many speaker cable do you need to be able to record with torpedo using a marshall combo amp?

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just one. Speaker cable from the speaker out to the Captor and then a regular patch cord from the line out to your interface.

    I had done some song demos using Behringer GDI which turned out well. However I've been using a Torpedo Captor for a few months and think it's great.
    I had considered the Helix Stomp, but believe that I have plenty of options already using my existing amps.

    What are your thoughts now after using it for a while? To me it seems like your mic and cab sound much fuller than the captor. You don't find the Captor a bit thin sounding compared to just your rig? Or can that be fixed in Wall of Sound?

    • @mreust230
      @mreust230 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course, on the other hand, I saw your other video after posting my comment in which you compare 4 different methods of recording and the Captor was one of the better sounding ones. Shows what some tweaking can do.

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Straight goods honest? The Captor was very new to me when I made this video. However, this product turned my recording methods on its ear. I still have the Captor 8 and now I have the Captor X here as well. I've learned how to mix it better. And bottom line, I can record anytime day or night. I have barely touched my Cabs since this video. And I never record them. It's all Captor. I don't foresee going back to Cabs anytime soon...

    Interesting choice captor vs hx-stomp. Never really thought about that. One tip if you allow me to give you. Next great choice is to buy a CAB M. Then you don't really need Wall Of Sound, because you everything tweet everything jn you cab m and go directly into interface/DAW. BTW the captor X is maybe a great choice also. But the price of the captor X and the HX-STOMP is the almost the same price 549€. So l have learn something and you did make the right choice. ✌🏾🎸🙏🏽👌🏾👊🏾

      Thnx for your thoughts. I really loved both. They are 2 very different things but both serve the need I have and that's recording guitars silently. The thing I like about Wall of Sound is I can choose my cabs later. IF I use the CAB or Captor X I have to print the Cabs. Which I know is the same as if you were recording a real cabinet. But if you can have the best of both worlds, you can change your cabs later. And that's where the Captor 8 and WOS find a nice little niche for me. Thnx for watching!!

    how would you do this with a combo amp?

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question. I had a friend who asked me this. The answer is "it depends". Not all combo amps are created equal. You need to get between the amp and the speaker. Some combo amps let you do that by providing a jack or easy access to the connection between the amp and the speaker. If the connection is internal then the amp would need to be modified. It's not a big job but the mod would need to allow you to patch the Captor in between. Hope this helps...

      Thank you! And 100%. If you record with the built in amp sim off you can use any IR you want. Though once you get your hands on Wall of Sound that comes with it, you may never go back to regular IRs. It’s that good.
