Sorry for the late comment, Volvo S80 V8 owner here. But how expensive was the replacement for the AC compressor parts/Labour? My aircon still works, but you can hear metallic grinding when the aircon is on. The noise gets worse when the revs climb and as you’re driving. I’ve heard the expansion valve can solve the issue for the metallic grinding noise?
I see 2 expansion valves at one point side by side. Is one of them for the REAR auxiliary ac? I can't see one valve cooling both coils, how did you replace the rear one?
The pictured valve were the old and the new, side by side. The rear is on the drivers side, you have to pull the side panel off then its really easy to get to.
@@boxpin One thing that seemed odd was on the upper engine mount- the rubber insert seemed to have lots of "play" in it. Looking at it, there were no cracks or wear areas. But it would slide back and forth maybe 8-10 mm. I brought it to my local indy Volvo man. He looked at it and said, "Looks ok, return it to service." I replaced the compressor. The OE one had seized. Pulling the old one and giving it a shake- sounded like a piggy-bank. So new condenser and receiver/drier too. Seems to be working ok now.
Thank you so much for this video. There is very little content on the XC90 V8. I have quite a few issues with mine and no reference online.

That's what I am also trying to figure out? I have the same set up on a 2.5t

An excellent video BP- It's been very helpful. Question- did you use thread locker on the two 3 mm valve mounting bolts?
I did but I don’t think it is necessary since there is not much load on them. The o-rings are the seal.

Do you know if this install is the same on a 2009 3.2?
I don’t ’know’ but the body is the same so I would assume it is.
How did you figure out that your expansion valve is faulty? What is the indication in your AC system?
I was wanting a cooler system so I replaced the compressor, receiver/dryer, and expansion valves. Chilling now.
