    This is by far the best review of the Osprey Atmos AG 65 pack that I have seen. As I am restarting backpacking now at the age of 66, I found this thorough review extremely helpful.

    I think I watched every review for this pack on TH-cam (20 some reviews, I'm a cautious buyer) and yours is by far the best. you covered the review fast and you pointed out utility options superbly. I especially loved the advice at the very end of your review. thank you so much and God bless!

    I have the same pack, worked perfectly on a 52 mile backpacking trip on Catalina Island. The water bottle side pouches were so nice and it's full of other great features! Can't say enough good things about it

    The review is one of the best I saw, great job. I have the same model and can only say the best about it. You can feel it when you pull the strings how smooth it functions with the plastic parts, the effort and precision to make it function this way you have yo to put in a mold is just huge and requires patience and expert knowledge and numerous tryouts and measerment reports and optimisation loops of the mold itself. If you analyse the plastic parts you just see that they are near perfection with functionallity and optic and so is the mold they are made of. The guys from Osprey just seem not only to know how to do it, they seem to love to do it that way and thats why these are one of the best backpacks you can get out there. Just my opinion.

    Absolutely LOVE this pack! I use it not only for travel but as a day pack as well without the lid! The anti-gravity back saved me from sweating on really hot days, and when some of my friends questioned why I carry such a large pack everyday, I showed them the back system and they were jaw-dropped by how awesome it is.

    Osprey seems like one of the best backpack companies out there. My only gripe is the lack of an included rain fly on their packs for that price one ought to be included.

      Just recently I was looking at a pack that had one sewed into the bottom of the back that you could unwrap but have it still be attached. Not sure which one that was but maybe they are making a change

    I've had this pack for about a year now. I'm in Jersey and did part of the AT with it. Great pack. However, like ANY pack - you will sweat. Sure there is airflow, but it's not sweat proof!! I would recommend this pack hands down. Great review guys!

    7:02 The bright orange on the underside of the lid can act as a hi-viz beacon for air search & rescue, should you get into difficulties ( you can either flip the lid or take it off & wave it if you're able) . Great review but unfortunately Osprey no longer offer that color which is strange as it was very popular.

    Eugene, your gear reviews are exceptionally well detailed and interesting. You have a gift for this. I have to say though, you need more pack reviews! I have a challenge for you; Acquire the Osprey Xenith pack (either 88 or 105, your choice). I have that one in mind for myself and I think you guys need to do a review on a pack that can carry the whole kitchen sink! I could see you guys one day tackling Denali and that's THE pack you want.
    Keep up the good work and I hope you accept the challenge.

    FYI the funny zip inside the pack is so you can install the bladder between the ventilation system and the backpack (on the outside) in freezing conditions where you may want to unthaw your water with your body temp as you walk. Outside of the this scenario the bladder should be installed on the inside.

    I hate mine, its really too bad because I wanted to love it so much. I will say it is a comfortable pack. very adjustable and great breathability in the back. It is also quite durable. That being said it is super noisy, all the zippers require 2 hands and they always get stuck. The pack is heavier than I would like. I dont know if it's just mine but everytime I put it down it will not stand on end it always falls into the dirt. The main compartment is small and always seems over stuffed and 9 times out of ten restricts or kinks the hydration bladder. It is also very busy which doesn't personally bother me that much but can see how it could irritate others. By busy I mean there are pockets and straps everywhere. I am sort of new to this and it's only my 3 pack so maybe this is as good as it gets.

    I was wondering why people need a 65 liter pack? I can fit a late fall early spring kit with 9 days of food and 3.5 liters of water in a 40 liter pack.

    • @cvbattum
      @cvbattum 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Longer travel-backpacking trips, most likely. I stuffed it to the max when I went on a two month trip to Norway and I even had a 25L daypack just as full with me! But for any trek you don't really need much more than 50. When I did the Tour du Mont Blanc I could easily have done without the lid and the front pockets and still not have my pack full. It's just.. less convenient because that leaves you with only one separate space. No place for smaller loose items anymore.
      Also, are you stuffing a tent, sleeping bag, pillow and cooking gear in that 40L pack? If so, I'd find that an accomplishment.

  • @NotOfThisWar
    @NotOfThisWar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    See, for me the only question I really have is how to people carry a tent along with a sleeping pad with this...No reviews seem to really show that at all. I mean I gotta carry a Tent for 2 but also I carry a foam pad as well which rolls up and its quite thick, this doesn't look like it would adjust enough to fit something like that even under that top cover.
    Just concerns I have

    Hello, I want this Atmos 65 AG backpack but I have doubts as to whether it could pass as hand luggage in the plane cabin, I know that the upper part could be removed or not filled too much etc,,, but what gives me doubt is actually its structure (plate or aluminum frame), could you comment on that and if you have any measurements of only the structure. Your answer would be very important to me. Thanks in advance and very good videos.

    @ReviewOutdoorGear I have read that the hip belts are a little short of padding. Causing the cables that run along the upper and lower edges of the belt to pinch your hips. Has this been your experience while using the pack while loaded?
    The reason I ask is I am seriously considering this pack. I have a Xentih 88 and just returned the Gregory Paragon 68L. I am a slim build so the hip belt fit is important. The Xenith slips after some time on the trail and I find I am always readjusting it. The Gregory pinched quite a bit and I had to return it.
