Prediction for bonus video:
While there may be a chemical “burn” at the tip of the match, I doubt any fire due to the “fire triangle” … fuel (match) + heat (laser) + oxygen = fire
No air means no fire
But still looking forward to the video

Beautiful finish as always, Ben! I think you could have afforded to go a little more intense with the dye though, amber is very richly coloured.

It was definitely missing the yellow tint and a little more orange, although I considered that may have been intentional because of the yellow from the light in the base. It definitely was closer to the deep, rich colour when the lights were out and the lamp was on.

Wow great job! you really nailed the whole "died in the amber" kind of look.
Quick science lesson for everyone, mosquitos (and anything else in amber) probably died of getting stuck in it. Before amber hardens it is tree sap, and very sticky. Anything climbing around on a tree may have gotten stuck in the goop and, if its flowing fast enough, would have been encased in it.

Add to this the creatures trapped in the amber have been perfectly preserved and their DNA intact. Author I love is Veteranarian and study the research behind this for a novel.

They didn't use a Crane Fly for the actual movie prop. They used a Toxorhynchites rutilus, which is a type of mosquito that ironically doesn't feed on blood.

BEN you absolute LEGEND!
I love the "what if" experimentation vids, and you may have tried this, but whit if you cast POPCORN KERNLES and then try to NUKE'EM in the microwave!
Also do you think the kernels would get hot enough to pop from the exothermic reaction, because that would be wicked too!!
