Hi Simon, great to see you back here on YT! Would give Jack a treat were I there. Was there once back in 1965 as an Exchange student. Beautiful country you have! Thanks! Dave in USA
This must be one of the best if not the best of your videos on the rats you’ve done Simon, cracking footage and it’s great that someone is using the springers and showing just how good they are in the right hands of course! and we can’t forget Jack the old lad making an appearance too. I went out on Friday night but didn’t see one rat but it wasn’t a wasted outing as I came back with dinner as I had a quick look over in the field and there was a rabbit bobbing about and I knew it was going to be a challenging shot as it was a pretty good distance but there was no wind and I got my Weihrauch hw100 kt in 177 steady on the gen 3 sticks and allowed for distance which was a guess as I thought it must be at least 45 yards and took the shot and it lept up about a foot in the air and dropped stone dead. I paced it out as I went to pick it up and I paced 48 yards and the pellet had hit right between the ears. The following day I walked back with my range finder and it was 51 yards! I was capped to bits, but I just wish I pressed record on the wraith as it was a rare distance for me and it just goes to show just what a sub 12 ft lb is capable of. Anyhow keep those videos coming as we need folk like you on TH-cam we’ve lost two within the last two weeks as they’ve pulled the plug and we’ll miss them thanks to the decision maker at TH-cam.
Hi Simon, Thank you for your praise and gratefulness. You are very welcome, and thank you for another great video. Your HW 77 is super, super kit, looks gorgeous, though I think it helps, you being behind the scope, pulling the trigger! Nice to see lovely boy, Jack. The HW77 at 25 yards, as you've proved, is a tack driver. The Weihrauch's are built like bank vaults and petform the same way. I stay away from JSB Heavies 10.34 grain, for spring air rifles and stay with 8.44 grain. I use 10.34grain pellets in pcp air rifles. A top gunsmith told me, keep the Heavies10. 34grain to pcp air rifles and 8.44 grain pellets to spring piston.
Brilliant hunt! I'm surprised you didn't run out of ammo before the night was done, the rats were definitely out and about. Good to see your old mate, he looks good! Cheers!
Simon that rifle can shot through the eye of a needle you’ve got that setup perfectly. All the very best to you Jack and all the family👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴
I did want to say exactly what you did,” through the eye of a needle “. To be fair, I’d say if Simon was to stick a 5inch needle at 20 yards, he’d probably take the head of it…🧐🤓
Some very very good shooting there Simon. The 77 does perform exceptionally well- can tell just from the movement (or lack of it) on the reticle. No regulator issues, no power curve, no magazine issues, never ran out of air- superb! Possibly dropped a few pellets in the mud and one or two in the action though? Great bit of pest control- keep it up 👍🏻
I'm in Wisconsin US and I'm creeped out for you sitting on that barnyard floor with all those rats running around! What a great night hunt! can't wait for the next one Simon!
Really interesting and enjoyable ratting video Simn and Jack, thanks you for showing us this. I am a 'dyed in the wool ' Weihrauch break barrel rifle fan and when I see "HW" show up in the title I sit up and take notice even more :) Thanks again Simon.
Great video , keep up the good work , my pellet of choice ( pretty much fornthe last 35 years ) has been the RWS Superdome, have worked like a dream in all my HWs , currently using a HW95K for my pest work .
Great shooting Simon...had a little chuckle when the rifle shot out raspberries at the same time as the pellets...give Jack a hug (and a sneaky treat from me🍗)...I'm afraid my Chocolate Lab Kally is in much the same way as Jack and so precious... cheers from Scotland 🙋♀
Absolutely brilliant video Simon. It is nice to have Jack assisting with the intro. I'm an old springer shooter, literally and figuratively, and I'm loving you spotlighting the HW 77. Cheers from Texas, more videos coming soon I hope.
Those rats from the first place should start their own Pink Floyd cover band. "Hey teachers! leave those rats alone. All in all, you're just another rat in the wall." LOL Thanks for another fun video.
Top quality vid as always and outstanding shooting as always too....to the point that unless you know the 77 you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a PCP you were shooting! I can't wait to get back out shooting again and I can't deny that your vids have inspired me to fulfill my childhood dream of owning an HW77. Best wishes mate and thank you for your time to film, edit and share!
Great video... C50 so versicle from fox to rats... nice to show newcomers that spring guns are useable with NV. I got the interst years ago from TH-cam vids of rat shooting using Sony video cams. I think we all owe the sport to the pioneers of digital NV I bet the old research videos have all gone now. C50 is a versitile day/night scope ... got one myself. Thermal is coming on now ... Hats off to the guys and girls who started the spark years ago ... with Sony night shot👍
Great to see Jack, no words, just a hand. It sounds bad but I taught my two boys gun dog commands , saved them from a broken glass when they were leading a conga at a party when they were little, whistle, hand 🖐️ stop 🎉
Nice shooting simon carnt beat a good springer with a nice bit of glass get the internals right and the trigger pull set you have a brill combo for life keep up the good work all the best fred.
I watched this using TH-cam’s subtitle feature so not to disturb my wife watching the Bake Off! Your brilliant northern accent played havoc with it - give it a go, it’s hilarious. “In all fairness” is translated as “In all furnace”
😎👏👍saludos mr simon desde chile es increible el rendimiento que le saca al hw 77 al ser un rifle de resorte muy buena jornada de caza de plagas un abrazo para jack 👏👏👏
Excellent piece of shooting as usual! I don't know if an air rifle gets hot after that many shots or not, ha ha! Here's a challenge for you, glue a tiny piece of thread onto the back of a 177 pellet. Stick a large sewing needle into a piece of wood about 20 meters away and see if you can thread the needle. I know you can do it! Love seeing Jack. Thanks again.
Pest control at its finest, keep doing what you do pal , you’re doing a great job and service, it’s a thankless task sometimes, but you do it humanly every time, FairPlay.
That's plenty of meat for a tasty rat pie... In Victorian Britain rich and poor ate rat pie (says Wikipedia). But I'll maybe just stick to chicken and lamb. Good shooting Simon.
Great Video Simon, Rats everywhere!! I've never seen so many at once. As always though, your excellent shooting soon got through them. Nice to see Jack, I hope he's keeping well...🙂👍🏻👍🏻
Cracking session Simon, tis the season to be ratting again, started mine last Friday, youhave to get one of those number clickers to keep count, nice video
Talk about an extreme target rich area I’m surprised you didn’t run out of pellets. Looks like you had a great time while you were there. Nice to see Jack out and about with you too.
Spot on Simon! Great opening in explaining your platform n equipment and always, it’s great seeing Jack. What a night!
AWESOME! Great to see "Jack". Oh, and BTW, nice video.
This guys great, straightforward, humane, and a good character. Lovely video.
That 77 is a peach. You'd expect a bit of a jump when the piston releases but hardly a blip to the sight picture. Nice work mate, very good.
Excellent shooting Simon especially with a springer
Hi Simon, great to see you back here on YT! Would give Jack a treat were I there. Was there once back in 1965 as an Exchange student. Beautiful country you have! Thanks! Dave in USA
Good to see Jack again. Great shooting like always. Made my day to see you had a new video again. Have a great day.

Great shoot Simon.
I shoot my springers off sticks all the time. Great sport and accuracy, good to see Jack.
Good one Simon, there's always one.
As always, great to see Jack. It’s funny to see the black bales of silage. The company I work for developed the process of wrapping a bale.

Thank you it's been a while since I saw a rat hunting video with a springer just shows you don't always need a high end pcp to shoot rats
