    Hey Heinrich!
Weiter so :) LG
    Hey Heinrich! First of all, good videos and insights into the world of management consulting. This is my definition of value, which I would like to see more often on TH-cam - hats off! I have a video suggestion about a topic that would interest me very much. I think I wouldn't be the only one. Could you make a video showing typical examples of deliverables at the end of a consulting process? I'm thinking here for example of outline, typical content, formulation tips, general design, etc.

    Well, the content is definitely a gem. By 80/20 rule, it is not the thing the presenter need to worry about first. Say, it is not one of the significant factors that differentiate your presentation from mediocre. To me, it is more like an ad. nevertheless, give thumb up for our awesome McK alumni. Keep it up, mate!

      The crucial thing is the mindset. You should want your presentation to be easily understood, only contain the absolute essential messages and be a pleasure to look at. From that purpose, you can learn some core principles of how to structure it and somewhere down the line is - as you said - these icons. If the ordinary Jane/Joe just starts with them, it's only going to add to the clutter. To be fair to Heinrich, he has already gone into the meat of the matter in other videos, so this isn't exactly a starting course.

    Great video and I definitely learned something! Can you please do a video on all the PowerPoint tips and tricks, short cuts that you know? For example, at 2:18, you did aligned text but you also used a function to space them out equally. Can you please how to do that? That’s so much!

    • @FirmLearning
      @FirmLearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Ake, thanks for the suggestion! Yes, will for sure continue to create videos on PPT topics :) The function I used to space it out is called "distribute horizontally" or "distribute vertically", you should find it in the "Align" drop-down within the "Arrange" panel. I added it to the "quick access toolbar" to always have it handy. Lots of success to you! Best, Heinrich

    Hey Heinrich! Nice content and great recommendation about simples slides. Beyond supporting your work with the algorithm ;) I have one question: how do manage to quick find an icon that suits best? Have you even seen any icon set that one can search using key words? Best regards from Aachen and keep the great work!

    • @FirmLearning
      @FirmLearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Gustavo, thank you much appreciated :) Frankly I do not overthink this. Whenever I need one, I try to think of objects that would broadly fit and then look for something similar, usually this works quite well. Some firms also have libraries that are sorted by icon topic. Of course this is also very helpful. Best! Heinrich

    • @FirmLearning

    Hi Heinrich, I once saw a presentation--I think from McKinsey, where they used small icons in the upper right corner of the presentation as an indicator of the flow of the presentation. Have you ever done that?

    • @FirmLearning
      @FirmLearning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes elements like these are definitely not unlikely. Personally I like to use circles with numbers in the top left part of the slide to make this structure visible. Best, H

    Hi Heinrich, I got access to simpleslides and bought the "PREMIUM" account. I am not sure if the site changed, but I am yet to find the exact search pane you have at 3:43. In addition, for me there simply is no option to filter for any other programm (only powerpoint slides are shown). Not sure if others encountered the same problem...

    Hello Heinrich - it will be very interesting to see a video based on you using icons from Simple Slide - instead of Think Cell. Think substitution. :-)
    Not many of us can afford Think Cell or its alternates. But we can afford Simple Slide.
    So can you advice us on how to make equally good looking, professional slides using Simple Slide - instead of Think Cell?
    I will be looking out for such a video. Thank-you for all the content you create. Much appreciated. :-)

    • @FirmLearning
      @FirmLearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Shyam, thanks for the comment! Yes, understand and agree that think-cell is quite expensive for private use. While Simple Slides is powerful, you will likely not be able to replace all the chart creation functionalities of think-cell. Will think about potentially doing a video about what is possible in the future! Best, Heinrich

    Nice presentation that resonates with me. I have a question on the Simple Slides type material.
    Visually the slides look great ...
    My challenge is to find material that is easy to adapt ... e.g. in business deck there is a pie chart with 5 slices ... I want to use but need to have 6 ... and am not in to battle with formats and resizing, ...
    How do you go about this ? Is there sth I’m not doing right ? Does Simple Slides or other providers propose templates like this ?

    • @FirmLearning
      @FirmLearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sverker, for working with charts and data, the best solution in my opinion is "think-cell". It is a plug-in for PowerPoint that is used by most large consulting firms. Unfortunately it is quite expensive though (believe you need to purchase a minimum of 5 licenses when signing up..) Best! Heinrich

    4:35 including some world maps and individual country out of it.
    5:55 vector graphics, that no matter how big they are. never look out of resolution.
    7:10 icons are not self-explanatory. very few icons are interculturally accepted and recognized.
    7:45 use them sparsely
    7:55 a good way to use is when some buckets or what that repeat throughout the slide deck. and create connection.
    8:35 not all of them, may some extents to unprofessional and childish.
