Dr Phil is not even a real doctor. He has no real credentials. I have my MFTL and so much of what he tells people on the show is no where near close to how to legally and ethically handle trauma or abuse. Mid he was a real and licensed practitioner he would have had his license revoked a long time ago.

He has a PhD in psychology. He has real credentials as a psychologist, but not as a psychiatrist as people imagine. He does have the right to the title of doctor though, by virtue of having a PhD. He is in no way a medical doctor, but anyone with a PhD is entitled to use Dr if they hold a PhD which is also called a doctorate. His job as a talk show host also certainly undermines his role of psychologist during the shows.

In a way I kinda understand mama June's experiences; if her mom failed to educate her on sex and its consequences, obviously June wouldn't take it seriously and would be more likely to do it often and get pregnant. But teenager or not, she' was still a mom to a young daughter, and to dismiss her daughters physical and mental well-being for a fucking guy is grounds for losing custody of her kids in my opinion.

I actually feel bad for mama june. It's very clear that she was brought up in a very poor household where her parents didn't care about her at all. Her mom was even aware that her teenage daughter was dating men in their 30's. Mama June isn't the perfect mom but based off of the kind of shitty parents she had she really is trying but doesn't know how because no one ever taught her these things when she was younger. She's not an uncaring vicious person, she just had the misfortune of being raised by shitty parents who clearly didn't teach the poor woman anything. If we had her childhood we'd probably end up just like her too. I hope she gets the help she needs and maybe see a therapist.
