My dad rents his farmhouse on his farm to an Amish family. whose last name is also "Yoder". "Yoder" Must be a popular last name in Amish communities.

Some Amish communities in Pennsylvania do use cars. Usually like old taxis or police cars. They paint them solid black, including the hubcaps. Then the big orange triangle is mounted on the back.
Some shop at Wal-Mart. The women like the fabric department. They also raise puppy mills because they consider that agriculture which they are supposed to use for income. They do this because they are rapidly loosing their farmland. Their vegetable stands are the best!
They also sell the quilts made by the women. They’re beautiful and last forever.
They’re great builders. I’d live in an Amish built house or use an Amish built barn anytime.
Then they call everyone who is not Amish “English”. Interesting folks.

I came to mention the 'English' thing. I would be curious to know if that is a distinction that arose in the US and is short short-hand for 'English-speakers' because the Amish speak a dialect of German often referred to as 'Pennsylvania Dutch' as their primary language. In at least some Amish communities in the US, kids don't learn English until they go to school.
