Costco has the best return policy and extended warranty. Also, if you buy your TV online and it's delivered, they'll pick it up for free if you want to return it. Super helpful especially if it's a large TV.
funny, but those “cheap” big screen Costco tvs always look amazing to me… I have no idea why I keep my Costco membership, it was the for the Hot Dogs 😂, but they messed that up since Covid and my local Costco has a weird parking lot that is very hard to navigate around and rarely has an open space.
I bought a C2 77” from Costco in November. Picked Costco over Best Buy for the relative ease of return and the extended warranty. Thought about getting it from Amazon (5% discount with the Amazon card) but if a return was necessary I just didn’t want to hassle with it. Costco (like many other chain stores) stocks the stores differently depending on location/neighborhood where the store is located.

While I don't have a vehicle large enough to pick up a big screen television from any of these businesses and would depend on delivery I absolutely hate the idea of having to do all my shopping for this type of item online. I want to see and touch what I'm interested in and compare them for myself if possible. @ Brian. I'm very curious to find out why Costco doesn't carry the flagship models from Hisense and TCL when you go to CES. I have called the Costco buying department and can't get through to them. I can every other department but not the TV buyers.
Costco does track the number of returns on TVs. There system will flag you if you've retired a certain amount within a certain window of time. In fact Amazon will email you a warning after a while. The membership fee pays for itself after 8 months if you buy gas from them every time.

Hi Brian, there are some yahoos online that insist that the TV's that Costco sells use OEM panels and what not and are different than the ones that you would buy from Best Buy. On Reddit someone is claiming the Sony A80CK is not the same TV as the A80K, that you get a nicer remote with the Costco version but the processing is inferior than the A80K. They're blowing smoke, right?

I love Costco for all things including TVs. I did want to share a bit of information since you touched up on why Costco allow a more lenient return policy. Although you aren't incorrect in stating they sell a lot of product and do make money off them, that is actually not their primary profit generator. Where they make profit is the membership itself... if I remember correctly, their total profit for fiscal 2021 was $5.2 billion, with $3.9 billion coming from membership dues. I once overheard a floor manager explain this to a customer who was trying to return 8 beat up suitcases and apparently had a habit of returning quite a bit of merchandise. The initial customer service rep who was helping him was unable to process the return and the floor manager was called in to review. Based on what the system shows of returns, it apparently flagged this customer and he tried to plead his case saying he makes a lot of purchases and that the returns were just a small portion of it. The floor manager explained to him that it's not about how much you spend here, as the prices are so low with the average profit margin being about 10%, they really don't make much on selling product. The manager straight up told the customer what they sell is the membership and service to customer, and he would be more than happy to get the general manager in order to try and authorize the return.
Have you seen r/Vizio? It's constantly full of complaints and photos of broken Vizio tvs. I own one and you get what you pay for. I find Vizio's soundbars to be worth it!
The problem with Costco isn't just their limited availability of models that they offer, but the simple fact that you are buying from WAREHOUSE retailer. That means that absolutely NO ONE there is going to be able to offer you any type of valuable input or feedback about the various models that are on display or how they actually compare from a features/specs standpoint. This is really not much different from buying on-line through a mail-order/Internet source. Well, that's fine IF you have done all of your own research and IF you don't have any questions that you need answered before making your purchase decision. Compare that to a company like BestBuy (especially the stores that offer a Magnolia Home Theater department) or other specialty electronics retailers out there across the country and you are much more likely to have someone to talk to there in the store that you can actually have an informed conversation with about how one product compares to another from a features and capability standpoint. It gets even better than that though as, depending on the store, you might very well be able to talk to multiple people within the Home Theater department and give five, six or even seven different informed opinions on any type of question that you might like to ask about. Not satisfied with those answers? Walk over to the Geek Squad desk and ask one of their techs or TV installers for their opinion. The point being is that the big value add of the specialty electronics retailers is the wealth of knowledge that they can bring to the table - both before and AFTER the sale. That's something that a warehouse retailer simply will never be able to do. That's something that customers need to keep in mind before deciding where they are going to buy their new TV from. There's a LOT more that goes into making a wise decision there on that than just the price they are offering. Unfortunately, many customers don't actually figure that part out until AFTER they have made their purchase and need help, guidance or advice to resolve some type of an issue or problem they have run into.

I've had several defective panels at there highest end. Not sure what's happening with the company. Thank you for watching
