Nah, someone must have been sabotaging, stopped when the chickens got hung up, resumed sabotaging after they were taken down, then stopped when they were permanently put back up.
There is a real explanation why the rubber chicken was use for the flight simulator, it is to absorb the shock that would cause the flight simulator to break down due to the sudden movement that would cause the shock in which would be the cause for the simulator to break down.
