    "They're the same f*cking gun"
    I cant wait for when Othais does the Glock pistol decades from now and the whole episode is him just saying that.

      As annoying as it may be, old Gaston Glock may actually have achieved perfection in the service pistol.

    With all the long rifles we have seen on this show, when Othais holds the Karabiner it looks like a BB gun or a toy in comparison to some gigantic 48 inch rifle. I imagine the weight is far more manageable.

Now the 88 had a story, his grandfather brought it back, down his trousers!on inspection it wasMINT.So we cleaned it, test fired it on the bench. Then we shot about 20 wild boar. Now I must give him a call and see if he wants to part with it. Thanks again for a fantastic review.

    I recently ran across an Eduard Kettner custom built Mauser on either a Karabiner or Gewehr 91 (the bolt handle was left alone). This isn't so much a sporterized Mauser, but a totally custom bit rifle using a Bohler-Stahl barrel, custom wood stock (has a pistol grip so Mae would like it), engraving, stipling, gold inlay all over the darn thing, an express rear sight and custom quick release claw mounts and double set triggers. The darn thing is a work of art built on an exceptionally smooth action. The only thing wrong, is it's on a gun that didn't get rebored so ammo has to be .318" (slugged the barrel for the gun shop it's at). But what a wonderful gun.

  • @matijakurelja9827
    @matijakurelja9827 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The Gewehr 91 firing sequence has a whole new level to it after seeing the extent of repairs done to it's stock. First time watching I thought it was received and fired in mint condition, okay okay- in service ready condition .

    At 3:15 it's crazy how much difference there is between the heavy round nose bullets and the lighter spitzer ones. At 500 meters the spitzers have the same amount of drop as the round noses have at 800 meters, if the sight markings are anything to go by. Just goes to show how important bullet technology is along with the rifles.

Speaking of Berthiers, how come the 5-shot version (carbine or rifle) didn't make it somewhere on Mae's list? And further speaking of that list, it'd be cool to have a page where her final verdict for each gun is listed. I sometimes can't remember, so a handy reference page would be swell! I've been watching your earlier videos lately and they suffer from the short length and lack of "war were declared"

    Kudos to Mae for pronouncing "Garand" the way John Garand pronounced it. On the other hand, he doesn't appear to have cared how it was pronounced as long as it was bought.

    Excellent presentation you guys. You have a new subscriber. And, by the greatest coincidence, I just acquired a KAR 88. I'm hoping you'll share what load you're feeding it. Thanks

    Dude you should make a video of you shooting one of these in an indoor range.

    Will you make just a short video showing off the Kar 98 A but not with in this series?

    Regarding the clips, the metallurgy and heat treatments in these components is essential. Just bending sheet metal won't work. I had some 3 shot Berthier clips marked "Santa Fe Arms" (likely made in 1950's or early '60s since that's when that company was around) that worked poorly. Once I acquired original French military clips, rifle functioned correctly. I wish I'd known you needed an original Commission 88 clip as I obtained one in a junk parts box recently [and also an M93 Dutch clip] and I'd have sent it to you.

      I definitely agree, and dont worry that Dutch clip is up next

    Man, en bloc clips are really effective because they speed up loading time 😃

    Does anyone know where I can find a bolt for one of these rifles?

    the question I have on the bolt handle is simply have you guys tried it with gloves? I know cavalry used to be pretty gung ho on gloves and I wonder if that negates the issues with the bolt handle
