I am starting seeds to keep me busy! Making comments to hopefully grow your channel( more people need to know about you) because you offer great advice and very easy to follow instructions. 🤗 From a fellow far N Texan preparing today for our Winter storm warning ❄️
Clubs and late nights are out for 2025. Birds and pollinators are in! Great tips and reminders. Like someone else said, you make it and we will watch it. 😊 I’m so glad you make them! Looking forward to next month’s checklist.
❄💙📖 Very good tips for winter gardening jobs! I have been going through my pots and tools, redoing my garden journal, deciding about seeds, wondering why I didn't get to planting all my bulbs--now going in a pot in the garage! Happy Winter Days!!!
Thanks Amanda! It's really cold, but great to know that we can still be doing things in the garden. I've had some health issues for a few months. But I'm much better and getting the itch to get outside! Your vedio has given me an even bigger itch. 😅 Blessings to you and your family in the New Year!!!!
I am in West Texas 8b. Love your video. My purple fountain grass is very aggressive here. It's perennial for me and triples in size each year, drowns everything out near it. To keep it in check I would need to pull it up and divide it annually. Maybe I should put it in pots because it's a bit of a pain. Today I took cuttings off of my autumn Joy Sedum which is still flowering, and brought in a couple of geranium babies. I wish I had taken cuttings from my coleus, but it's already gone. One of my goals for the new year is reusing or expanding what I have. Good luck with this hard freeze we're about to have. Happy gardening.💙
We just got our "big" snowfall here in Maryland, and just before, I filled all my feeders (9). I think all the birds in our area came here to feast!! I would say there's been no less than 4 dozen birds out there. For Christmas, my husband got me a Bird Buddy, the feeders with a built-in camera. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I was wrong. It's so much fun. Also, another youtuber talked about an app called Merlin. It will record bird sounds and tell you which bird you're hearing. I've had at least a dozen different birds recognized by the app. It, too, is a lot of fun. So, more birds, I'm right there with you!!
Zone 8b PNW and I always wish I could leave my perennials up for the birds but all this rain turns them into mush. It's a little muddy for gardening around here right now but I have been sheet mulching and spreading compost. I noticed yesterday that the hellebores and snow drops are peeking through the soil. 🥰
loved the video. thank you for sharing great tips and info. i will be doing some cleaning in my garden real soon. this time of season i get a little down. but, i have lots to get done it's just getting started with it. lol hope you have a great day!!!
All great things to do in the garden! I know I've asked this before, but what is that evergreen next to your driveway where you are pulling weeds? It seems like a real Texas trooper for year round interest
They are Dwarf Alberta Spruce. They struggled with spider mites when they were first planted but haven’t had any issues in a few years. They have been very slow growers which I am happy with.
Great video- very thorough, easy to follow, and informative. I have a question about bird seed... how do you prevent/ manage discarded seeds under the feeders that usually create a weedy mess on the ground? Thanks!!
I don’t stress about it but mine is in the grass … I would feel differently if the seeds were falling in a garden bed. However, I’ve seen some people mulch with cardboard around the base of their birdfeeders to catch the dropped seeds.
I created a "bird" garden under my bird feeder this past season. My kids and I loved watching what the birds planted for us...sunflowers, milo, millet. Then birds also ate off the plant that grew!
I ordered some journal documents from your sister and assumed you use a 3 ring or 5 ring binder but that isn't what I got. Where did you get your binder?
I use a disc planner system … basically it’s a set of plastic discs that hold the pages together. You can get them on Amazon and my sister sells the covers as well. Here a link to them on Amazon … amzn.to/404jOGI
Thanks sweet lady. You’ve helped this new Gardner immensely. I’m 60 and thus was my first year, I couldn’t have done it without you. 😊

More great info. Thanks. Yesterday watched 2 junco in our window feeders while it was snowing. ❄️❄️❄️🐦🐦🐦
That is awesome!
Thank you for the info! Can you share what type of evergreen is the one at 10:25? Looks beautiful for our Texas 8b area.
NC 8a is very cold right now. Highs in low 40s. I’m ready to start some more seeds but need to do this via winter sowing method! Thanks 😊
