    Drop a comment either here in the replies or in the general comments sharing fun type bending interactions you know of in the Pokémon games!
    (forgot to make this comment when the video first went up oops)

    Never really thought of Shadow Pokemon and Stellar being similar, definitely a cool comparison!

    Honestly as Struggle was mentioned I expected to hear about the ??? type, introduced in generation II for Curse and removed in generation V when Curse became a Ghost move. The ??? type is neutrally effective against every type and is hit neutrally by all types. Eggs in generation II are considered as ??? type. It's trivia, but its icon is used in the two GameCube games to display moves that have yet to be unlocked for Shadow Pokémon and in generation IV data, a ??? type Arceus exists, but it's just a sprite.
    In the same vein as Burn Up, the move Double Shock causes the user to lose its Electric type (mandatory to use the move, as it is Fire type for Burn Up). Double Shock is the signature move of Pawmot, which is Electric/Fighting, but an Electabuzz or Electivire could use the move through Metronome and effectively lose their type. You could also give Protean/Libero to Pawmot with Skill Swap or Doodle. Curiously, in Scarlet and Violet Burn Up can only be called by Metronome; the same fate occurred to Cut and Corrosive Gas.
    But there's another instance where a Pokémon loses a type, way older than those two elemental moves. Roost negates Flying type to any user that has that type, even if for just one turn at a time, and since Rookidee and its evolution Corvisquire have pure type they will lose it and every type will be normally effective agaist them. Also, Tornadus could also Metronome it, at least in Paldea. It seems though that at least until two months ago Scarlet and Violet crash opening a Pokémon's summary screen when it's typeless.
    Hidden Power Works as Judgment in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, anyway. But only Unown learn it, they special.
    Also, it's a pity that Revelation Dance doesn't become a Stellar type move when Oricorio goes for Stellar Tera lol

      I hadn't even thought of Double Shock because of how niche that would be to turn up, great catch! And yeah thinking about it, it would have been funny if Oricorio could have gotten Stellar-type Revelation Dance. Why not? Give it some love, Game Freak!

      @@AzureFlute Oricorio gang, rise up. A great video anyway, the idea is cool and comparing the Shadow type to the Stellar Tera type is based. Glad to see Golden Sun footage in the video!

    In the first few Pokémon mystery Dungeon games, you could make a basic attack that was typeless. This was actually your main damage source for most of the game as actual moves were a resource you had to be somewhat sparing with due to how long some dungeons got, how many enemies you fight in them, and how limited PP restoring items could be once you started to get deeper into the dungeons

    • @AzureFlute
      @AzureFlute  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah! It was weird they took out the option to do a basic attack in later Mystery Dungeon games, took getting used to in Rescue Team DX

    Pawmot's Double Shock is essentially Electric type Burn Up

    The fangame Pokémon Uranium and Pokémon GO have similar mechanics:
    in Uranium, the team behind that project came up with a Nuclear type, which deals Super Effective damage to every type except Nuclear and Steel, which resist it, and takes Super Effective damage from every type except Nuclear;
    and in Pokémon GO, Shadow Pokémon which you can obtain from Team GO Rocket members both deal and receive 1.2x the damage they normally would from all attacks, after factoring in weaknesses and resistances.

    I think my favorite thing about Tera type is I can give a Pokemon the type I think they should have! Like Poison Tera Gligar!

      You know, I'm really surprised with how Go reintroduced Shadow Pokémon that we still haven't gotten an actual full game that uses them again. Would be really cool to see them appear again!

    One example of weird types I would like to bring up is Dark Matter and Bittercold from the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Series.
    Note: the following information is from Bulbapedia.
    Here is a random sorted list of information about them:
    Bittercold:
    Typeless non-Pokémon creature
    Uses exclusively original typeless moves, including one that can decrease an opponents PP
    None of the moves have official names
    Dark Matter:
    Typeless non-Pokémon creature
    Has a unique move pool of typeless moves, all of these moves are completely original, the most interesting of these being Shadow Casting which can apply any status effect or decrease any stat.
    It also has a unique ability that triggers 3 times per battle that throws off Pokémon attacking it.
    Moves and abilities all have official names.
    Dark matter also has minions called void shadows
    Some void shadows are typeless while others have randomized single-types
    Void shadows have typeless versions of the moves Dark Pulse, Leech Life, and Headbutt (named Peripheral Attack, Drain, and Shadow Headbutt respectively)
    Void shadows can clone themselves after being hit.

      Good catches! I didn't cover spinoff games but I know those have some whacky ideas, Mystery Dungeon has always been pretty great

    Awesome stuff again. Stellar is such a wacky new mechanic, although I'm so sick of Tera and though I'll miss Stellar, I'm ready for something decidedly less miserable
