my dad passed away last month from cirrhosis. he was only 55, im 21. he had to go through this and many other procedures because his organ failure. i tried to donate my liver to him but the doctor said he was too far gone.
my heart aches everyday. id do ANYTHING to have him back.
im currently crying my eyes out.

I'm so sorry. My dad is going through the same thing and I'm so scared of losing him. I'm 20 and my dad is also in his 50s. I'm so sorry for what you're going through. It's a very difficult thing to go through, especially at our age.
My father passed away one month back due to cirrhosis he was 48 .

My uncle died from this, it's a horrible death. I'm an alcoholic and soon getting help and I'm ashamed, but I want you all to know. Don't give up, we all have a chance. The only reason I started is because I was bullied and it's not worth it. Please don't let anyone put you down, you're worth more than anything x

Don't be ashamed 'you pay your stamp' as they say in England so you deserve the medical care you pay for like anyone else without any judgement. All the best with the treatment.
I am finally starting to feel the effects of drinking for so many years and it is still very difficult to stop. I know I messed and I pray to God that he takes the obsession away. I see so many others who have been sober and the saying goes if they can do it then so should I. Please pray for me that I stop and stop soon or I know I’m going to die.

I was recently diagnosed with cirrhosis, not bad enough for transplant but it makes me sleepless, mood changes, stinging and just sudden shocks throughout my body. The thing is, I told my doctor for at least two years my liver was bothering me, he laughed it off and said it could be many things, then, when the numbers got so high, he sent me to liver autoimmune specialist for autoimmune hepatitis, liver doc looked over my numbers quickly, told me I didn’t have autoimmune hepatitis, he said something else was going on and my primary doc needed to send me to a liver specialist, the doctor didn’t put that in the paper work, and when I told my doctor he said I needed the liver specialist, my doc kept flipping through the papers and he didn’t say it in his report, I told that it didn’t matter and I wanted my liver checked, he sent me for ultrasound and it came back as cirrhosis diagnose, then went to cat scan, the report said I had so many nodules they couldn’t be counted! I’m going to be sure and remind my doctor of how he blew me off for over two years and this could have been caught a lot sooner! My advice is don’t let your doctor blow you off, it’s better if you catch it early as possible then you know to change your diet, and make sure to eat healthy🙏💕

Depends On the stage. If end stage a bit of the liver may get better but there is too much scar tissue, it's eventually game over. Acites, constant fatigue, blood issues such as low iron, severe constipation, lack of concentration and focus plus other fun stuff.
It sucks. You'll have good stretches then bam a major setback.
FWIW I am end stage.
I did my blood test yesterday after 5 weeks of 100% no carbohydrates no sugar no fruits no starch no red meat diet. My Liver panel test result shown AST , ALT , GGT level all perfect! Far from its top range. Just 5 weeks. My fatty liver is reversed to healthy normal. I lost 4-5kg just from dieting and stop eating after 7pm till next day lunch. 2 meals a day. Only boiled using water, steam Fish , tofu , cabbage broccoli veggies , chicken breast , black coffee no sugar for afternoon lunch and green tea no sugar during evening dinner not later than 7pm. After 7pm I fast till next day lunch 12pm. The fasting time is extremely important as this time allows digestion and some hunger which makes our body burn the fat within without exercising. Exercising barely able to reach the fat around our liver. So fasting is the effective way. I had No milk (contain high fat and high sugar) . No snacks. No all kind of bread which still are carbohydrates. No cake. No biscuits. No rice. No noodles. No fruits especially as it’s fructose are directly process only by our liver! Just 5 weeks and fatty liver is back to normal with proven liver function blood test compared to my previous test result 5 weeks ago. I feel very lively light and positive. I lost 5kg. Also My cholesterol and sugar level were also extremely good blood test result! I m looking way younger and my body is nicer too. I m 33 years old male. Non smoker non alcoholic. Didn’t work in a toxic environment. I didn’t exercise. But I ate much rice , fatty red meat, and milk and cookies and fruits. I slept late before. Now I kicked those bad habit n bad diet. After recovered from fatty liver, I continue my way of eating n fasting n sleeping time. I reintroduced some healthy carbohydrates back into my diet. Such as some corn carrot , some wheat bread, a little potatoes. Please make sure u do not overdo it. I really mean only some. Lack of discipline and taking it for granted will cause regrets. I’m sharing for mankind and for those who were helpless from useless doctors. And I’m sharing in memory of my late father who passed away due to end stage liver disease.
Hi man,does your ALT and AST level gone over the limit before you made this diet plan?2 weeks ago,my ALT and AST gone up which surprised my doctor as it was completely normal 6 months ago,today i will undergo liver ultrasound and he ask me to diet and redo the ALT and AST test again,hope it will all go back to normal,i'm scared...
Hey sir I am 23 and I think I am having some issue with my liver my Lft bloof tests are normal but I have background of drinking so I am havinh such issues like abdomen pain, inflammation, loss of appetite , pain at the back, some times a sharp pain from the liver. I have a fibro scan after few weeks what should I eat how should i eat can u guide me or u have some knowledge extra tips can u plz help

@harolddasynth795 how are you doing 1 yr later? I also had good liver numbers 5 months ago, but had liver symptoms start 2 weeks ago. I'm going to get new bloodwork, and try to get an US.

My friend died last year of this. We would drink all through our student days and beyond. When I was 32 I stopped drinking, I just didn't care for it any more. I didn't miss it and I didn't miss the hangovers. My friends often tried to pressure me into drinking with them but I just laughed it off, it didn't change my mind and I still enjoyed the social aspects of going out with the lads. I would still buy a round irrespective of the fact that I wasn't having alcohol myself. My friend continued to drink regularly, and by this I mean to say to excess, for the next 25 years. He was a wonderful person, probably the most intelligent and talented person I have ever met. He was 56, and I really miss him. Alcohol is so destructive, it kills so many people. it should be banned but of course that will never happen.
Alcohol SHOULD be illegal. Along with Energy drinks. I’ll never understand how they are legally able to sell this stuff. Sorry for your loss. Glad you are doing well though
Totally disagree about banning alcohol. It was tried already in the United States and was a total failure. Making alcohol illegal just means putting more people in prison and deadly homemade alcohol like moonshine being made on the black market. It won't stop people from drinking. If heroin were legal for instance, people wouldn't be dying as a result of fentanyl overdose. Everything should be legal so it is made safer. And people with problems need to seek help. More rehabilitation centers should exist and be available alongside universal healthcare. Prohibition never works.
My brother was diagnosed with cirrhosis (child A) this year. He is 35 and has been an alcoholic for 20 years. He is not taking his diagnosis seriously and continues drinking. My guess is about 10 beers a day, or around 2-3 litres of white wine. It is dreadful knowing that he might not live very long. We keep offering our help and assistance but as soon as you mention his addiction, he gets really angry. It is beyond devastating watching your brother drink himself to death...

True that addicts get furious as soon as u tell them it’s wrong , though they themselves know it is but can’t help it . It better u take him to some good de addiction Center and help him live

That's awful I hope he stops. Theres probably a deeper psychological and emotional trauma hes been through which hasn't been resolved and that's probably why he wont stop :( hopefully that can be addressed. Addiction is never just by itself it always comes from a source.

Not always, they dont know why. A friend died a year ago. Her sister passed 6 months before. After both passed their younger sister went and got checked, she to has it and is currently on transplant list at Duke University hospital. I got a new liver in Sept. 2020. Never drank, did drugs, was active and ate a well balanced diet, due to my husband being diabetic I prepared all our food we were both healthy. They said yes it can be heritage and it could be just no reason at all. No one in my family ever had illness like this on either side of my family. My friend had it in every sister and a brother. They just dont know.
John Underwood. I have non-alcoholic cirrhosis………from my diabetes. About 6 months ago, I FINALLY after years, got serious , and went to the Keto Diet…..plus…….Intermittent Fasting. I eat one meal a day which is a piece of meat ( steaks, chicken, seafood, etc. ) and very low carb vegetables. If you think logically about that, it is a perfectly healthy way to eat ! Now, the IF is another ballgame ! That definitely is harder, but it appears that THIS is where the healing all begins ! So, in 6 months…….already my diabetes is starting to turn around ! The Labs on my liver have not changed…….yet…….but, just the fact that we ARE seeing progress already with my diabetes……..is so very encouraging to me. I am 77 years of age. Rarely, but now and then, I cheat. But, for the most part, I am true blue to my Keto plus I.F. And John ? Noooooooo exercise is needed. THAT statement was from your Mama’s doctor, I suspect ! The diet plus the supplements she is on is ALL she needs. Get hooked up watching Dennis Pollock, perhaps, on Beating Diabetes. His way of eating is perfect for any cirrhosis person. When people say there's no symptoms, there's most definitely early signs, like blood pressure issues, it's subtle and builds up over time.
It's just that humans tend to ignore the sudden ills of the body that recover quickly, and get used to them over time until one day the accumulation of abnormal symptoms builds up to a catastrophe.
Thank you for including different experiences and lifestyles for this. I know mine is caused by lifestyle but it can happen to so many different people. I am sorry that as soon as you mention the word, people automatically give you that judgement, and it's because of people like me. I'm not a down-and-out, I am lonely, I've grieved in the worst way. I had my reasons. I am so glad I watched this. You are all so positive. Its my birthday in 2 days. I can celebrate surviving my first year with all this, after telling myself I wouldn't see my next.

Anything and everything can happen to anyone and everyone..
Been there, had the transplant. I'll never drink again, obviously I drunk too much and it's completely my fault but I genuinely didn't know I was drinking enough to cause damage. I didn't have any symptoms, only ever drunk beer assuming that was fine. Next thing you know I'm fighting for my life with 25 percent chance of lasting the year. I have 2 young girls and they nearly lost their Dad. I hope your situations have picked up like mine did x

How old was your Father though???...He could of been a Vegan/Vegetarian but if you're eating too much Carbs,Starches,Fructose then it too will cause harm.
To all that drink and have cirrhosis please go to AA. The first step is admitting you are an alcoholic. You can not cut back that is not enough. I lost my husband 2 yrs ago to alcoholic liver disease. He got diagnosed Summer of 2016 and died in fall of 2018. He suffered greatly and so did I. If you say to yourself I will soon quit or cut back you are lying to yourself. Once he started having fluid of his abdomen and did not stop drinking he had only 6 to 9 months to live. He died in 8 months

I’m sorry for your loss Mary. I appreciate your service announcement on lifting the denial around drinking. Almost everyone who has a problem with alcohol minimizes the effects of drink. I hope these people are living healthy lives now
I'm so sorry Hannah! I'm just 50 now and I drank heavily for 30 years. I am 4 months sober and feeling much better now but I certainly was heading for liver failure if I didn't stop. God bless you for your loss sweetheart.
I stopped last summer as I was told. Cravings are finally gone. Even if nobody is home, for a week, I see no reason for it.
My husband was just diagnosed with stage 4 liver disease...he's only 42...I'm terrified that I'm going to lose him.
I’m sorry but only way of survival is a transplant… I lost my mom, dad, grandma, and back in March just recently my uncle to cirrhosis…
My son is in the transplant unit and received a liver Monday night. He did fine but had to be taken back in to surgery due to bleeding. He is only 42. This is a horrible disease and he is now intubated and was placed in an induced coma. He may or may not make it. His liver just shut down, he started turning yellow, and went to the ER July 2nd. Please if you drink STOP. It will catch up to you.

I was stage 4, I got a transplant. He is very young if hes healthy other than the liver he can see medical treatment to extend life. But cant be drinking. That disqualifies the applicatant.
@@Lisabug2659 I'm so sorry. I to had a liver transplant, was in a coma due to reaction to antirejection medication. Was in a coma over a month. Had to learn to walk, swallow, write, stand and sit. It's been the most difficult time in my life. My prayers are with your family....so very sorry...
I was told over and over I I am a miracle. I know I am. The Lord came to me. He gave me peace, I'm not afraid when my time does come. There are no words to explain the joy, peace, and just contentment one feels. Like you were always suppose to be there. God bless
I was diagnosed with fatty liver about 5 months ago. If you are someone who drinks alcohol heavy and feel something wrong and even lightly achy from your right rib area cut back because that's the sign that it's bad. I kept drinking because the pain wasn't that bad but it's horrible now sometimes I want to die.
I have a dull ache on right side mid rib cage.
Yeah man you can reverse fatty liver. Quit drinking. It will save your life.

Thank you very much. I really enjoyed that. Because I am suffering as I type. Keto lifestyle and because of that I don't feel like drinking as much. I want to live. I decided that. Interesting Michael admitted to daily drinking of 4 pints plus a glass of wine every day and saw it as 'normal everyday social drinking'. What he said is 105 units a week.
I noticed that too. The other woman said she finished work and went to the pub until closing time. That’s got to be around 5 hours a night. Wonder how much she drank?

Yeah but all you need is bad genetics and that will cause cirrhosis. Probably about 10% of people who drink that amount will get cirrhosis due to genes. My dad drinks more and doesn’t have cirrhosis and he’s 70

@@NorCaLove1 coughing up blood. The main symptom, he kept that a secret from me till the end... Dark urine. Stomach cramps. Sleepless nights, to sleep all the next day.. still I would put up with it all to have him with me again one more time.. he passed away a month ago this weekend 😓💗🦙
Hey sending my sympathies to you...I lost my dad a few months ago to this and it was reallh horrible..I still can't get over it...it doesn't seem real...it doesn't seem to get easier at all, and I can't get used to it. I just thought of his illness and here I am...I understand how you feel, praying for you. Also, don't make yourself feel guilty, you have to remember he wanted the alcohol, he would've gotten it even if you didn't give it to him, but forgive yourself, don't hold on to the pain of 'what if'

They found cirrhosis in my liver when I got breast cancer. I’ve been working on my gut for a while. They said I didn’t have liver cancer. They didn’t say anything about fixing it.
I stopped drinking two years ago as soon as I was diagnosed my sister was diagnosed 12 years ago and continued to drink as she was addicted she passed away eight weeks ago I’m devastated but glad I stopped just wish my poor sister could have done too.

Sometimes it can be hereditary, poor diet, also from medications and stuff like painkillers if you overdose or take them regularly

my husband has a thing called portal vein hypertension, so he vomits blood and when it happens it is quick,and often large amounts..I had to give up my job to stay at home with him as when they occur ,yeah they are dangerous,and he needs help to ring ambo and just get around,,as he gets very tired. he is and was not a alcholic..No he and I are nurses,and he is a RN, he worked in a institution for 8 years that had hep B carriers and his ward had several,as did mine.Most of the staff had natural immunity to Hep B as I have,after getting my bllod test, i did not need the jab,as I worked at the same place for 20 years..But my hubby,actually carried it without knowing until he had this bleed one day at work..

That sounds like my late husband, he was throwing up blood, even in hospital, they told me ha was in last stage liver cirrhosis and nothing they can do for him.
He sad,y died a week after being in hospital , he was on nil by mouth, he said he was thirsty so I asked the specialist if it was ok for him to have soda, he said yes, so I went and bought one at the hospital shop, my hubby took a few sips and seemed fine, then he sudden,y said he couldn’t breath, I alerted the nurses they came in and put him on oxygen , a few hours later he died.
I’ve always felt guilty of giving him the soda, maybe if I hadn’t he would have been ok.

Diabetes and the health of our liver seems to go hand in hand. Yes, most times the focus is on the kidneys with diabetes, but the liver takes a huge hit from diabetes as well!! Wishing you all the luck and health!💜

I too was told that I have a Fatty Liver and my Triglycerides are high.I am Insulin Resistant and have metabolic syndrome issues.
when your diagnosis? ?
If you have done your annual check up i.e. blood test you will know immediately the cirrhosis of your liver. If your liver has an initial growth of a very small tumour or a fat deposit or as a result of alcohol etc the release of an enzyme ALT will be detected in your blood. This detection is detected early and will signal to you early and get treatment or to stop drinking or stop eating fatty foods etc.
Unfortunately, your liver enzyme levels can be normal even if the liver is damaged. An ultrasound should be performed if liver damage is suspected. This is according to my doctor, but this information can also easily be found with a Google search.
i only got diagnosed on 3 days ago. the doctor was very concerned he said im in early staged of liver failure. and is very worried i will get scarring and cancer/cyrhossis. i very rarely drink alcohol. i might drink something light once a blue moon on special occasions ive only ever been a very light smoker for a couple of years. i have quit over a year ago. i also found out midway through last year i have diabetes type 2.
the doctor says see a dietician. only problem with that they cost alot of money, and i cant follow a diet. if i follow a diet, not to intervere with diabetes i will be living of a piece of lettuce daily. thats something i cant do.
i am only 34..to hear that once u get cyrhossis u have 10-15 year life span is very scary and worrying

Us British are terrible for binge drinking so 4 or 5 pints a day probably doesn't seem that bad. It's not enough to be an alcoholic but definitely above average and fatal consumption.
We also tend to think we're above different types of drinkers "ooooh well I drink vintage cast pinot noir not that lower class gutt-rot" might be easier on the stomach but you're no better than that person tanning a bottle of frosty jack's
I read somewhere that 90% of those diagnosed with Cirrhosis aren't alcoholics, they tend to be that "person who drinks with company at the pub" or "has a tinnies after work" It's like America with food, a super size meal from McDonalds is normal over there but is completely unhealthy and glutenous to everyone else
They always bang on about drinking....have you seen side effects of all the drugs they prescribe to you ???
it also has nothing to do with your mom's death. but you need to learn that we do what we can for each other. Cancer develops no matter what, it is a cell that goes against the body. dont blame videos about drinking because they do a lot of good. I have an immune disease, if i didnt quit alcohol i would die. your mum died to something we cant ever fully understand. prescriptions have saved my life, especially with my body trying to kill itself. dont blame them until you understand a medical struggle. because you really dont understand
Last month I I been taking Tylenol probably everyday for headaches and since then I have had aches in my upper right abdomen

The one lady that said it won’t get worse is clearly misinformed. Cirrhosis does get worse over time even if you have stopped drinking.
I watched my husband die of cirrhosis through alcohol abuse. Its not a pleasant death. And very little to be found on what the actual process would be. Moat of what I read didn't explain fully what happens. It's not a death where you just fall asleep and go peacefully. I'll remember till the day I die what it was like to watch him die in front of me

I just got a phone call from my doctor saying I've been diagnosed with cirrhosis
what's the cause?
My father is suffering from this ..it happened so suddenly without any prior symptoms that we don't know what to do?symptoms is now so severe that ..he sometimes fails to respond plzz anyone advice...

Were they checked for Autoimmune Hepatitis?
I have Autoimmune Hepatitis. In January 2016 my liver was normal, but by December 2016 I was diagnosed with end stage liver disease. They don't know what caused it, or why it moved so rapidly. Apparently my immune system went haywire. There is no cure, I'm too old for a transplant (76). I am on drugs to suppress my immune system. I have an excellent doctor in San Francisco. - I'm taking it one day at a time - no guarantees.

I'm diabetic and not particularly overweight. As I right this my wifes sister is in hospital dying from Liver disese and it's not a pretty sight.
Does coffee helps detoxify the alcohol or the paracetamol in the liver??

no, caffeine instantly puts extra demand on liver cells. its not as bad as other chemicals
or drugs but still can add to demands on the liver. Also alcohol is processed differently compared
to paracetamol. look into it
Black coffee is a good detox, but if your sick follow your doctors orders. It can kill you trying to detox your self. Your liver is already sick, you dont want to work it harder than need be. If your healthy, go for it.
Coffee is loaded with Catheine . Catherine like alcohol dehydrates your body and will make you feel worse. I would suggest glasses of water. Add a bit of lime or lemon if you wish

Pls go to your doctor and get check. Itchiness is a sign of a liver damage. My dad died of liver cirrhosis 2 mos ago and it came as a shock because there are no symptoms. The symptoms came 2 mos before he died.

Please try to stop drinking. Go to rehab if you need. I stopped drinking 2 1/2 years ago. I’m not saying it’s easy but you can do it. Stay away from people who drink. Bless you and good luck. My dad died from cirrhosis it’s not a pretty death.
Got nothing to do with drinking...my mum has got inoperable liver cancer never drunk in her life.

I socialize a lot with out alcohol. It makes me an outcast because people look at me weird and avoid me when I tell them I don’t drink.

...i have that ...i know there are a few herbals which can help .. but im curious if one had real serious improvement.
i personally dont think cirrosis is inreversible .. all diseases can be cured .. somehow ... even cancer .. only there are circles who dont want you to know the way ..

What do you want to hear? That you can continue to drink with liver disease and somehow your health will improve? It won't unfortunately and no there's no magic cure anyone is hiding from you either. Let's stop reading conspiracy theory nonsense shall we. Also, there are so many different types of cancer that "one magic cure" would be pretty much impossible to produce so big pharma aren't keeping us sick to cash in. I mean the person who came up with a cure for all cancer would be rich beyond belief so they'd be pretty stupid to want to hide that from us lol. The bottom line is, if you abuse your body for years on end, ignore the warning signs and shun everyone who tries to help you (which alcoholics tend to do) you will more than likely end up at a point where the damage can't be undone. The liver is a very forgiving organ until you keep pushing it over many years and then you're in trouble. The first step to having any sort of comfortable life after that starts with you quitting alcohol! If you continue you're pretty much banging nails into your own coffin at a rapid pace.
