But so much wasted space? By making each pod having a wing on each side as opposed to one, yoi've just massively increased usability inside it's existing footprint.

Look, it's fairly clear that this is a particular type of housing. Mainly it's suitable for youngish and fit people happy to live in a small and unconventional space. Many occupants might only be able to stick it for a year or two before moving on. But that's missing the point. It could widen the available options for housing and that's got to be a good thing. These ideas rarely seen to gain traction though. This vid is from 3 years ago and I haven't heard anything about this project since then.

    @MsCristyn83 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Great design. : sarcasm:
The windows won't open! If, for example, fire occurs during sleep, you will die before you reach the door.
Soundproofing? It's great to hear everything from the street.
Curtains? So the man who lives here will be a window dresser. Very tempting offer.
This box house in a forest would be good for a weekend cottage. For a few days.
Exterior decoration? Some drunk people will surely ruin the little "strings".
The bathroom is like a prison toilet.

You'd think they'd start off with a rectangular base because they're easily stackable, more stable and if you're going to begin the cantilevering on the first floor, why the fuck wouldn't you start with a rectangle base?
And using triangles? They taper but this structure has no triangles.

I understand this is an architectural solution to a problem of extortionate housing prices, but how is it that prison facilities (at no cost!) give you more square footage and comfort? How is it that our perception of these tiny, inhumane space are amazement and brilliance? Is this not a clear signal of a housing crisis? The government needs to actually tackle this solution, as opposed to inflate it. Share/Help to buy have just inflated the market and caused unsustainable private debt! They should be introducing regional rent caps like they have done in Berlin to give first time buyers the slightest hope of saving. They should be exploring enacting legislations to hinder investment of property, whether overseas or internally.
If anyone wants an idea of what this will look like if it continues, in Hong Kong £350k gets you a 2m x 2m room!

Tenants would only spend two days aweek in these mirco houses and flats because it's close to work.
You would definitely need more than 37 square metres to live because relaxing in a small space would have a negative effect on your health.
Yet micro flats of 7 square metres are now been built.
Its uncomfortable and forces tenants to rely on disposable items.
Relying on living spaces smaller than 37 metres makes life very expensive.

If you're trying to actually house as many people as possible as cheaply as possible, with decent living conditions, your far better building prefab multistory apartment buildings. But of course the designer of this shoebox wasn't trying to make a practical solution, he was trying to make some work of art to show off how clever he thinks he is.

I rather make a home in a cargo container that can be loaded up and moved again rather then try to navigate this nightmare.

It’s not for everyone and it doesn’t “solve” the housing crisis... but for those who CAN use it it’s an ingeniously efficient space and a very attractive addition to the tiny house phenomenon.
Let it be one option among many. An accessible option should be next!

Perhaps can be a holiday chalet-like in the outdoor surrounds by the lake, mountains, and forests in Norway, Iceland and Finland. Will be quite a good experience but not as a home. Not practical and the bathroom is a no-no.

30k for a frigging treehouse? And it's not even in the woods with some privacy. But instead you have the neighbors and walkers watching inside your bunker. No thanks.
