@TheThirdPope Yep, I think he wrote it in the late 70s, and there wasn't a singer/songwriter/guitarist alive at that time who wasn't influenced by John. They covered a lot of his tunes back then as well. I have a killer version of Denver's song "Prisoners" by these guys, as well as Poems, Prayers and Promises, Rocky Mountain High, Welcome to the Morning, Cold Nights in Canada, etc...amazing stuff...John Denver was amazing. Hope you make it back here one day! I moved here 11 years ago and love it
@fastpony71 Yeah, I head to the mountains every weekend in September and take photos of the aspens even though I have a million of the same photos. LOL. Love Woods Lake near Telluride! also love Maroon Bells, but I go to the San Juans every year and don't make it to Aspen very often.
This was sung back in 1980 by a couple of friends of mine and written by the owner of Waunita Hot Springs Ranch in Gunnison, Colorado, back in the 1970s. Glad you enjoy the video and the song. They have amazing voices and the lyrics are so nice...
Not one trail in particular, but shots are from Capitol City, a small ghost town along the end of Engineer Pass near Lake City, Colorado. Other shots are from the old town of Ironton, which is an area along the Million $ Hwy between Silverton and Ouray.
Love this JeepsterGal! I've driven all directions on The Alpine Loop: Ouray thru Engineer, Lake City thru Engineer, Silverton thru Cinnamon and every combination I could imagine. I appreciate the great memories.
@Copperpenny1962 I dreamed of moving here for about 30 years and finally made the move 10 years ago and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself. It's amazing! Hope you make it out here to live, you'll love it!
Beautiful! 5/5 stars! I love camping and backpacking in Colorado. I just got back from the South San Juan Wilderness at the end of August and I was blown away with beauty up there!!
Hey thanks for commenting! Glad you enjoyed the video. What bells are you talking about? Are you talking about Maroon Bells perhaps? This was all shot in the San Juans. Glad you liked it!
@fastpony71 Thanks for watching! Haven't done much four wheelin' this summer but I do have videos from last summer that need editing! Thanks for watching and enjoy your trip!
I lived in Colorado from '50-'51 then from '53-57 and loved it. While I lived in Denver, I drove around a lot and one of my favorite places was in the La Plata area. Even slept in an old log cabin and met a typical old prospector (his name was Cederwall as I recall). Wonderful times. Your video really brought back memories. Thanks.
Wow! Nice job here, girl. Camera work and music befitting our beautiful CO; I miss it so much. We'll be heading to the San Juans in July in a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So here I am drooling. Thanks. I'm going to view them all over the next few days.
Hi Jeepster Gal!!! Well, its nearly that time of year again. On the 22nd of next month we will be loading our 4x4 with camera and camping gear with our sights set on the Elk Mtns and the San Juans. It will be interesting to see what time frame the aspens will be on this year since it was such a cool and wet Spring. Looking forward to a very colorful Autumn in Colorado! Keep those vidoes coming!!
Just got back from visiting many areas of Colorado. It has become an obsession in September when the leaves change. We spent time around Woods Lake near Telluride, among the peaks of the Sneffels Range and around Marroon Bells and the Capitol Peak region. Everytime I see this video (one of my favorites of course) it makes me want to pack the truck and head there. Love that state!
fox1612: Thanks. A Jeep Commander sits on a frame with a higher clearance than a Jeep Cherokee. The Commander weighs more than most Jeep models & that is the fact that concerned me. Commanders have a excellent wheel base, 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel disc brakes and a feature for anti skidding in rain & snow. The Commander would not roll well like a Wrangler or Sahara. It's all just a thought anyway. To really see Colorado, I would go trail riding with a horse & pack mule before anything else.
Beautiful area ! I was in Ouray/Silveron/Durango area the same time you shot this video ! I managed to get to Animas Forks and a little bit past there. I stayed overnite in Ouray, drove the $1M Highway in the early morning sunlight. The Apsen trees were all wearing their yellow/gold frocks :) Unfortunately I couldn't explore the backroads that were SOOOO beckoning due to lack of time. That area is on the top of my list for my next vacation trip ! Your other videos are great too !
thanks for this video, I went on 30 Sep, but most of the gold was fading. You show more of the gold. Yes, you are looking at the 3 bells that are on the left side of that whole peak, the 3rd is not real clear. It is my favorite place in Colorado
@JeepsterGal It has that John Denver sound and theme that I like. It may sound cliche, but the music of John Denver (And music like it) is perfect for Colorado. Every once in awhile I consider moving back to Colorado, but right now it just isn't feasible.
I just got back from the Durango area and even though it was my 5th time in ten years to be there I was still hypnotized by the beauty of the place. I still need to see those aspens though. They are astonishing! Thanks for posting!
Do you happen to know where their music may be purchased? I would like to have a copy of this song. Very inspiring! We have plans for Colorado this fall, looking forward to spending a lot of time in the San Juans. Beautiful Colorado!
I'm catching up to all of your videos, Shedding a tear for our dreamland in a couple of your videos. It hurts not being there everyday. Keep up the wonderful views. Thank you, great music.
Hi, Thank you so mutch for this small moment of intense pleasure. The nature into your country is very wide and the country side desert. Ilike this. Best regards
If you find the opportunity, would you post a video on the 1800's steam engine train that runs out of Durango? Does it only run certain months? Thanks.
@TheThirdPope Music: "I'm Going Home to Colorado" by Homeward Bound (circa 1980) Song written by Rod Pringle. These are friends of mine :) Awesome song, huh? You can hear them perform in San Antonio, Texas if you're ever there. This was recorded 31 years ago.
I'm still here! I've just already video taped most of the trails down there and haven't done any new ones....I was there this past July and re-did Clear Lake and Yankee Boy Basin, which I've already got videos for...just haven't done any new trails, is all :)

Hello! Yes, I have driven that and plan to film it this summer to make a video of it. I live very close to Garden of the Gods, it's amazing, isn't it?
Hey again! Glad you enjoyed it. I will look through my video and see if there are any more clips of you guys. If so, I'll let you know.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed the Ouray area -- you definitely have to get offroad to really see that country down there.
Hey thanks for writing! I could happily spend the rest of my life retracing the same routes over and over again down there :)
Thanks, so glad you're enjoying the videos. I'd give anything to live there everyday instead of only seeing it twice a year!
Yeah, Durango is really something. A few more weeks and those gorgeous aspens will start to turn! Can't wait!
If I could make a living showing people this state I would do it in a heartbeat :) Thanks for watching!

No, it was recorded almost 30 years ago during a concert, the tune unfortunately is not for sale....

Great video. We just came from Colorado for our destination site. Went up to Victor and Cripple Creek along the Phantom Valley Road.
Carl - Southpoint
It is done with great love. The music goes really well with it. It makes us want to move to
Colorado. Thank you for sharing.
Great video! Loved the waving of the Aspens in the breeze. Ready for another return trip to Colorado this summer and maybe this fall.
Thanks a lot! I love to film down there (or anywhere in Colorado).
I do have a very short video of the train arriving in Silverton.
You need to start guiding gal, you are a pro, I shall return. Thanks for keeping my heart in Colorado.

Beautiful, the only thing missing is the distant echo of a steam locomotive's whistle.
Really nice video! Colorado autumn is beautiful! It reminds me the autumn in Austria.
Great video! This is my favorite part of Colorado. What is the name of this song?
I wish this video never end................ this is amazing. thank you.
What model Jeep are you using for you offroading? I have a Commander.
Could a Commander handle this kind of off roading? Or is it too big.
I'm in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport.
I like it :) going to Durango next week :)
아주 멋지네요*^^*
