Brother, thank you so much for this. Our garage door has been opening randomly since we leased this place and it's been driving me crazy. I've been debating if it's the wiring or someone is messing with us. I just tried this and really hope it works.
Thank you!! Our car was stolen, and the car was programmed to the garage door opener. I was worried about it until I saw your video. I am going to clear out the opener and reprogram my remote and the when we get a new car I will program it. Great video!!
Thank you so much. I was robbed three nights ago and my garage door opener was in that purse. We have another one at home. I reprogrammed this one thanks to you. I can finally rest a little better tonight.
Thank you. My garage door opener needs a new battery. I lost the 2nd opener so I need to get some new remotes. I was clueless what this involved. THanks.

Just bought a house and it only came with only 1 remote, so this was very helpful! I do have a few questions though: When I reset and reprogram, it looks like it's done 1 remote at a time. Each time I reset to add another remote, will it lose connection to the first remote? Is it possible to add multiple remotes at the same time? Thanks!
How do we add more than 1 remote? I seem to program my two remotes but every time i press the remote to open it, the garage only opens it a couple of inches then stops. I have to keep pressing it so it can eventually open a few inches at a time each time i press the button
What can I do if I hold the learn button down to erase or clear all other remotes.....BUT the light never goes out.... and as such... it's NOT clearing out anything
Thank you very much for this excellent tutorial. In my case I have a 1993 Craftman, I recently bought a new remote control and apparently when I was pairing my remote some neighbor activated theirs too. Now when he uses his remote my door opens. I tried to delete the codes paired to the receiver but even if I pressed the button for 10 seconds or half an hour the red LED did not turn off and did not reset the programming. What can I do? I have already removed the power for hours and tried again and the problem is still there.
I've solved the problem. I connected the motor to a power outlet controlled by Alexa. That way I can allow the power to flow only when I'm going to use my remote and disconnect the power supply when I'm not going to use it.
how do you program 2 remotes for same garage door? Every time I have one programmed, the other stops working; when I tried to hit both simultaneously to relink, only one, or neither, would work. I appreciate your help.

You don't need a new remote. Clearing out the system will remove any remote you don't have from the system so the door won't open with them any longer. Then you add the ones you have back in so that they will work for you.
Thank you for this information Acme. I have a question please. I originally had two remotes received with my system. But a previous resident has one of the remotes and hasn’t returned it. If I were to do this reset will that then block that other remote from working?
Hi Locksmith recommended, I have an old Sears Garage door opener made long before 1990. I have the Sears remote with it. It is an 8 dip switch remote that worked with my 9 dip switch garage door receiver. I programmed my vehicle to open the door, and now the remote will not work. The battery is good. Its not the antenna or the light bulb causing it not to work. There is no learn button on my garage door opener, and there is no button to clear the code. I cleaned the circuit board on the remote, and that didn't fix it. The dip switch codes are matched. I even bought a universal remote with 9 dip switches which I matched, and that wouldn't work either. The door works with the buttons to the opener and with my car but not with either remote. I am totally perplexed.
I got one remote to tune in. I have 3 remotes that I want to all work. I cannot get the other 2 to work. I have gotten them all to work individually but wont all work together as when I tune in the next it cancels out the other. Really appreciate some advice/help please.
Be nice if you had instructions for programming the remote you sell for my Wayne Dalton Quantum 3213 garage door opener. Instructions that came with it don't work.

Hello: I’m sorry if this question was already asked. I bought a home and neither of the garage door openers were left. We have to open the garage doors using the buttons on the wall from the inside of the garage. Is the best option to purchase a universal remote?
It is. We sell them here. www.acmelocksmith.com/buy-safes-online/universal-garage-remote.html If your garage opener has a button with a blue, green, yellow, purple, or red button, it should work.
That depends on the garage door opener. Sometimes they're random codes. But it's the garage door opener that is programmed to read the codes that are emitted.
Thanks Robert for that info…I’ve been pulling my hair out having lost my 1 and only Remote that was here when I bought my house…it’s an old Autodor type fitted I reckon in the 1970’s here in the U.K. Will any universal one do the trick…I’ve yet to investigate for a Learn type button though…there are 3 terminals marked 1,2,3 spaced out 1 is in RED with wire attached…2 is in WHITE with wire attached…3 has no wire attached….and a fairly chunky square GREEN button with a green LED beside it…there’s no word beside it…do you think that will be the learn button?…the numbers on the back of the unit are…….132 B 2052-1 and elsewhere….132 B 2164…any help would be very much appreciated…many thanks in hope…Brian

I bought an older home that has a perfectly good Chamberlin garage door system (motor) only issue there was no opener given at closing, I tried to program a universal remote opener with no luck.... my question is could this motor just be too old to reprogram a new remote?
If it has a purple button or a small yellow round button, the a universal remote should have worked so long as the remote supported the Chamberlin. Here are the instructions: www.acmelocksmith.com/blog/how-to-clear-garage-door-opener-memory-add-remotes/ Here is a remote we sell that should work if you have either of those buttons: www.acmelocksmith.com/buy-safes-online/universal-garage-remote.html

I have the same model opener. My garage door opener wouldn't open with my old remote, and I used this trick and I got my door to finally open after 10 years of being closed! (My release string is broken) My torsion spring went bang and an about 1 inch gap exploded in the middle of it. It's weird, I can stop the door in the top position, but when I stop the door in the middle to get some sunlight in, the door crashes to the ground with the opener arm attached. Help if you can.
Clearing/Programming garage remotes for security reasons is about as far as I go with them. You're going to need someone who works on garage door openers.
Hey sorry to bug you iv looked everyware and everyone says no, long story short i smashed my car it was totaled went to get my things from it no garage door opener and its my only one is there a way to program a new opener or no i wad thinking og useing the put button in the garage to do it but people say no
You don't address how to actually change the program for recognized and accepted "codes" by the door opener. If previous home owner gives me 2 garage remotes for the garage door opener but doesn't clear those same codes from their car homelink/mirror control, they still have the same remote codes in their car. So if I then go and clear the remotes in the door opener and re-add the same 2 the previous home owner gave me, doesn't that just re-add the same exact codes back into the opener? Which means the previous home owners car homelink/mirror control still can open the door since it also has the same codes as the 2 remotes they gave me? My idea would be that if you actually changed the remote codes themselves (maybe toggle pins in the remote?) then programmed them to to the garage door opener, that would safely remove previous remote access and car programmed homelink/mirror controls. Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding or if I have a point. Thank you.
Holding your remote up to the Homelink basically tells your Homelink what type of signal to send (i.e. what kind of garage door opener you have). Once you do that you still use the learn button on the garage door opener with the Homelink so that it can sync with the vehicle. So when you remove everything from the garage door opener you are removing the car.
Have you ever heard of a vehicle key fob that has nothing to do with the garage door but opened the garage door. I thought it was a fluke and I had the guy who was there from an air conditioning company to do a maintenance on my air conditioners, do it again and it closed the garage door. He had to go in the house to look at the thermostats and when we came back out I had him use his key fob and it opened the garage door. Has anybody ever heard of that? I think the solution is to reprogram garage door and the remotes unless somebody else has a better idea.

So long as you can get in the garage, you can reset it and add new remotes.

Thanks i appreciate it so i just follow what u fid in the vid and were good
Doesn’t work for my Wayne dalton quantum 3213
Ty!!
You're welcome. Appreciate the comment.
Thank u 🙏 u save marriage 😛👍
What button
Great video ... complete idiot proof for guys like me
Glad you found it useful!
But you need to reset the remote to the code you want!
Not sure I get ya. There's no code in a garage door remote.
This didn't work for ours 😔
I'm sorry. Is it the same brand? Check the link in the description, and it'll take you to other brands.
Never! Wow!
How many remotes cab I add?
