After 38 years of listening to Laibach, I discovered that Milan Fras, like Garbo, can also smile. Laibach is one of the few and rare creative groups presently active. They manage to invent themselves time after time. They are a group of brilliant minds.
The music is brilliant, you have to listen to it again and again. The video was creepy and spectacularly beautiful. Again, he talks about the things of the world, criticizing at the same time, openly and covertly. The team has been making new and new masterpieces for 30 years. Two years have passed, you have to listen again and again!
I usually don't like when someone else is singing in Laibach, but I admit this time Milan has a serious competition on screen. What a brilliant, creepy video.
The shepherd and the hunter, the innocent flock....we let the wolves in and dance thier song while the wolf licks his chops? Such levels...always the best .....laibach!
At 1:50 the girls sing in german I think. As far as I can understand them they are singing" Auf der grünen Ziegenweide, wo ein Gut der Hirten war" which means "On the grean goat meadow where there was an estate of the herders". Just thought I'd share that with you, might be wrong though^^ EDIT: Since I have been corrected it feels appropriate to mention the correct lyrics as well: "Schafe können sicher weiden wo ein guter hirte Wacht" -> "Sheeps can graze safely where a good shepherd stands guard" Thanks @solopaola for bringing my attention to the original piece of Bach (see below).
Always loved their sense of humor. I think my favorite part is the very end when everyone relaxes and you get a quick glimpse of everyone being "human" and casual right before it cuts to black.
A man watching young girls with a binocular is creepy enough, but that smile on his face takes it even further. All deliberate of course, the guys in Laibach are clever people. :)
On The other hand, we see what we want to see. Perhaps The Hunter just happened to see his old friend The goatherd and his flock from a distance and went over to greet him and nothing more. He does see the goatherd first, perhaps they are lovers, we dont know.

All hail Laibach! They've released so many great albums and made so many fantastic videos but this might be the best thing they have ever done! To see Milan actually look like he's having fun is such a treat. Well done... can't wait for the album on Friday and the tour next year!

There's also a german chorus in between: "Schafe können sicher weiden wo ein guter Hirte wacht" meaning The sheep can safley graze where a good shepard lives/wakes/is watching out. It's basically the theme of the video as well and important to the deconstructed fascist theme of the song. This song is about the type of love greeks call agape- the love a god has for his people- a universal caring unconditional love that dictators try to imitate for the propagandistic imagery that is used to indoctrinate and sooth citizens of fascist states. The song is making use of the melody and german lyrics of J. S. Bachs's May the sheep safley graze. The melody is quite similar to lonley goatherd, possibly its original inspiration and Bach's somber melody is musically more prominent in this version than the actual sound of music theme giving this its more mellow vibe. I think there is also a melodic reference to dueling banjos by arthur smith which overlaps musically quite well.
I like the subtle acting going on @ 2:48. I think it's a brilliant use of the Kuleshov effect. You see the camera focus on the men's faces and then the girls marching away with their backs to us. No matter the silly dance and the smiles on everyone's faces, these little subtleties make it creepy af. You start questioning the shepherd and the hunter's motives. What are the little subtleties in the Sound of Music, that we did not see.
