@@OrlandoMarrero Don't get me wrong despite what I'm about to say it's a great performance but they play it far too fast and even Bruce in his prime struggled big time to keep up while singing. It's a long song and it needs time and space to breathe to be fully appreciated but imo they strangle it to death. I would also add and this is a very hot take that the production quality of Live After Death isn't the best compared to their other live albums. Just my opinion. ❤🤘
Rime of the Ancient Mariner from Flight 666, hallowed is my fave Maiden song, Rime 2nd. Also in my personal top 5 is Revelations, Phantom of the Opera and Powerslave.
a must see live. try the clansman live rock in rio 2001 and the red and the black live chapter from just after bruce was cured of throat cancer.. 3 guitars in each and bruce has short hair because he also flies their plane ed force 1 around the world.
Yes....best live band ever. Their concerts were amazing back then....and they still are. You can see why so many metal bands name them as one of their big influence. Fear of the Dark live in Rio should be next. About 20 years after this one.
Up the irons! King of transitions, melodies, galloping, harmonies, and song structure in general!! With maiden you get it all MOSTLY; NUMEROUS GREAT MELODIES, NUMEROUS POWERFUL SENTIMENTAL (ESPECIALLY) EMOTIONS, DRAMA, THEATRICAL SENSE, BEAUTY, POWER, VIGOR, BOLDNESS, DYNAMICS, JOURNEYS, EXISTENTIAL THEMES AND FEELINGS. And that’s their quintessential quality and signature! And that’s very unique and special!!
Jump to Paschendale, recorded in 2003 and played live on their 2003 Death on the Road DVD. I could give you 10 others to equal it, but getting out of the 80s to see what they were like 20 years later would be an interesting next step. Top 5 on the Maiden live list, IMO. Great example of what Maiden's stage sets would become. Old-fashioned stagecraft, like on Broadway.
Great reaction. It's always nice to see people experience Maiden for the first time live. Live is always better, with Maiden live sounds just like if not better than studio versions.

Totally agree about pausing and your pause was made correctly according to my opinion. I discovered Maiden about 20 years ago and since then I believe that there will never be a better band/musician in this world. When I feel down, they are my medicine. Although I respect and I like your reaction, f**k the reactions and do yourself a favour by listening to their albums in chronological order. If you're feelin' down depressed and lonely I know a place where we can go 22 Acacia Avenue... Listen to this by the way....
4:08 I agree the quality of the production in this show which was recorded in full in their live album Beast Over Hammersmith is absolutely top notch especially for 1982. The band played amazingly all night and the sound engineers absolutely killed it. The Hammersmith Odeon at the time only had a capacity of roughly 3,500 so this was a relatively small gig for Maiden even at this time when they were still gaining popularity and momentum in the scene. This and other songs from their album The Number of The Beast were played here 2 days before the albums release so these lucky ducks got to hear brand new material live before it was even released. I believe Run To The Hills was the only song at the time released as a single that the public may have heard. Their live shows are legendary and they're still doing it today in their late 60's/early 70's with just as much passion as ever.
Bruce Dickinson is my all time favorite singer and this is one of my favorite videos. But anyways here is a live song video from Iron Maiden back in 1985 that was written about the poem from the 1700's by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. You can really hear Bruce Dickinson's opera like voice in this video. But you might want to pull up the lyrics as you watch the video because Bruce sings kinda fast and could be hard to follow. I would also recommend listening to the actual poem first so you can understand the song. I will send you a link below for the live song video and the actual poem. Greetings and Love from Cologne, Germany. Awesome reaction, buddy. I'm a MaidenManiac since 1985. To discover them at age 14 was quite a life changer for me. 2 years ago i saw them live here in Cologne. Damn, they are still able to rock the stage, at their age. And Bruce, after nearly 50 years of singing and after his throat cancer in 2015/2016, wich he fortunally beat sucsessfully, he still sounds amazing. You should go on with 'The Evil That Man Do'( with EDDIE on stage), 'The Clansman', 'Brave New World'. But remember, Maiden is a live band, you need to 'hear AND see' them live on stage. Those 3 songs should be taken from "Rock In Rio 2001" in front of 250.000 crazy Brasilien Fans. Or songs like "Bloodbrothers", "When The Wild Wind Blows", "Fear of the Dark" from "En Vivo" live in Santiago, Chile 2010. Have a peaceful weekend, Bloodbrother...stay safe & UP THE IRONS ✌
In my opinion, theyre always better live ! Saw them here in Los Angeles 2 years ago. One of the best concerts I've been to. They are on tour in the US right now if you want to see them .

At the beginning of the song Bruce is pointing up telling the sound engineers to turn up his vocal monitors he wants to hear himself everywhere around that big stage
The nostalgia of Iron Maiden is off the charts it bleeds 80s everything about the 80s you can give these guys a battle ax, and they would fit the part perfectly

As far as maiden anything up till seventh son album is pretty great… but the Powerslave album is bad ass… early prog metal
Most songs for me range from ok to legendary! Very few bad or mediocre songs! That’s me!
