  • The Vivo X100 Pro is easily a top-tier camera and an incredible start for 2024... The Oneplus 11 is also shockingly good considering its price and that it came out a bloody year ago.

    It appears that I mistakenly used "Textured Mode" for the Zoom shots (2x, 4.3x and 10x) for the X100 Pro... That's why those shots look underexposed and crushed... I noticed it a little too late😅

    Loved the comparison as always.. Would love to watch more comparisons of vivo X100 pro with S23 ultra or iphone 15 pro max.
    Also 1 request for future videos - can you please include crop shots for each image or upload the comparison photos on google drive to see how good are the details specially on the face in 35, 50, 85 and 100mm zoom and Portrait shots.. Thank you so much! 😊

    Nice video! It's my first time watching your content, and your presentation is excellent. Keep up the good work. One suggestion: during photo comparisons, it would be helpful to zoom in when discussing the sharpness and clarity of the photo. Is there any issue with focus when capturing human subjects from a distance with the primary camera?

    Hi!
    If you have the Vivo X100 Pro around, and it is running the latest OS update, are you facing colour issues in the regular photo mode with Zeiss natural colours?
    I am facing inconsistent colour rendering in the normal mode, but works every time on the portrait mode.
    Thanks for the videos!

      @@thetechphenomena thanks for the info, I will play around with the camera to figure out what's going on.
      Your videos really helped me decide to upgrade to the Vivo X100 Pro (coming from the X60 Pro + and subsequently the X90) and I love this thing
      I would like to share my experience with a Vivo service centre being a X series customer:
      I loved using the X60 Pro +, but always yearned for that Zeiss colour mode that was introduced with the X70 Pro+. Luckily the X60 Pro+ sensors were really good and all of them supported Gcam, which produced stellar results consistently.
      My X60 Pro + display unfortunately got the green and pink line issue, and when I got it checked at a service centre they offered to replace the display for free, which seemed to be a widespread problem at that time anyways. It was so common that they were facing a shortage of replacement displays (this all happened last year). The service centre staff were really good and called me with status updates regarding the availability of a replacement display multiple times every week.
      After 3 weeks of follow up with them I asked them to give me an option to upgrade to a newer phone model and that I was willing to pay the difference in amount. The service centre staff needed to get approval from the branch manager to be able to offer a replacement device. Honestly I didn't know what kind of replacement they would offer, and I set my expectations low since the x60 was 3 years old and was past its warranty.
      The service centre were going to take time to get back to me for the replacement/upgrade, and I started to get impatient waiting for the display.
      It then occurred to me that I can call the dedicated helpline Vivo provides for X series customers and ask them to try and speed up the repair or offer me a replacement. The person on the helpline was surprised by my situation because given that 3 weeks had passed and the service centre had not offered me the replacement/upgrade already.
      This escalated my case and I got offered an option to upgrade to the X90, as they were unable to get a X90 pro, and that the offer would be valid until the point that they can arrange the replacement display.
      I took the offer - they gave me a brand new X90 that matched the 12GB RAM and 256GB Storage of my X60 Pro+, all for just ₹4000. It was a freaking good offer, especially since the X60 had just ended its software support cycle, and that the X90 was the latest device that would be supported for another 3 years of OS updates! And I also got the 1 year warranty for the new phone.
      For ₹4000 they gave me the X90, along with the original box and phone cover - but they didn't give me the charger that was in the box because there was a technicality that I was specifically getting the new handset due to a phone hardware problem and hence the service centre had to return the new charger back to the company along with the X60 and it's box.
      The whole experience had been so positive that Vivo has managed to make me a loyalist of the brand, especially considering the priority support provided for X series users (there are many benefits that I learnt after getting the X90, like having a dedicated counter at service centres for just X series users, allowing me to skip the line of other customers who came before me).
      And so I didn't have any hesitation in deciding to get the X100 Pro after watching your comparisons

    Well done, my friend!
    I haven't commented here in a while but I follow all your work...
    I HAVE AN IMPORTANT OBSERVATION!
    I heard from a TH-cam reviewer that the X100 Pro in 85mm portrait mode uses the periscopic lens... I'm not sure... I found it a bit strange but I would like you to verify this if possible.
    Cheers, and congratulations once again!
    NOTE: I think this one will give the competition a hard time. 😂

    • @thetechphenomena
      @thetechphenomena  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      85mm portraits are supposed to be 3.7x zoom... There's a chance that the 4.3x periscope is used to enhance details at the centre of the frame... Kinda like how Google pixels do their zoom shots... But I'm not sure😅

    I notice that you visually like photos with a higher contrast, even when this is excessive, when comparing two photos. But in vivo in some modes, the contrast was excessive. There are limits to how much contrast is beautiful. We saw photos with higher contrast in vivo where there was so much that they caused a loss of gradations of brightness of the objects.
    I was also impressed how you managed to take such bad selfies with ONEPLUS. So much "fog" in some frames. Either the lens was dirty, or you had manually tampered with the settings on the oneplus and made it overexposed.
    Finally, the zeis lens system in the vivo looks better in several photos, as far as clarity is concerned, compared to all the other phones. And the vivo's 100mm telephoto lens can greatly help the user's creativity.

    • @thetechphenomena
      @thetechphenomena  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do like high contrast... More than most people... I trust others to HV the common sense to understand that it's personal preference... N the OnePlus 11 has horrible selfies... HV made comparisons before with the exact same results... U can chk em out if u don't believe me

      @nemakis 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thetechphenomena
      How a photograph is portrayed in terms of taste is purely a subjective matter.
      However, if we "measure" the characteristics of a photo or video, then they accept objective criticism according to the measurements.
      I also like a photo with a stronger contrast. But I only like it when it results from a larger dynamic range of the sensor and not because the software made artificial contrast or underexposure. (and reduced image information due to reduced brightness.)
      I haven't yet seen selfies from other people's reviews regarding the oneplus, it just seemed very intense and very strange that it burned so much in the image, without there being any strong light behind it or the lens being dirty, etc.
      It's not that I don't believe you, that's not what I meant, but I thought maybe it was some manual setting error or a lens issue, as I mentioned above.
      For sure, vivo with the special coating of the Zeis lenses, has an extra help in this area.
      Thanks for responding to my first comment.

    Brother please compare with X100pro vs X90pro. I really want to see the difference in 2X as vivo x100pro is digital crop and X 90 pro at 2X is optical , 2X vs 4.3X this is optical vs optical at day and night shot .
    Please do this. This will give a idea of performance of omnivision with little big sensor 4.3x vs Sony largest aperture 2x.
