    Bergara recently released a new rimfire rifle platform: the BMR (Bergara Micro Rimfire). In this video we'll get hands-on with the premiere rifle from this lineup: the BMR Carbon in 22LR. This rifle is aimed at both precision shooting, and light-weight hunting: should be fun!

    I love my bmr steel. It has been a very consistent shooter and fits the bill for base class Nrl22 nicely. The other plusses this rifle has besides taking rem 700 triggers are:
    The barrel is threaded into the receiver so when the aftermarket catches up easy barrel swaps.
    Boyds is already making aftermarket stocks and surely so chassis will be coming.
    When the aftermarket catches up to this hidden gem i see alot of potential out of this rifle. Cheeper starting point than a b14r and more reliable to boot.

    Great video, the nice thing about 22 LR is it is still relatively cheap to shoot compared to centerfires. Kudo's to Travis for his work and the huge improvement in his abilities in front of the camera. If you go back and watch one of the early video's he appeared in it is like night and day to this one. Keep up the good work.

    Bought the BMR steel barrel. Nice rifle for the money.
    Pros: match chamber, 5&10
    Shot mags, light weight and nrl22 accurate for base class rifle. Shoots. most ammo MOA at 50 yards. Rifle shines with SK Flatnose and CCI SGB. For plinking Federal Auto Match is outstanding.
    Cons: Spongy trigger, noisy bolt cycle -sound like a zipper and cheesy picatinny rail.
    Used JB Bore paste to smooth out bolt cycle and installed an EGW 30 MOA base. Bergara could have left off the picatinny rail and made the action smoother and quieter.
    Overall I give the rifle a B+

    ...nice video! I'm shooting a Ruger 10/22 Target Tactical. Nothing special with the spec, 16" hammer forged heavy barrel and BX trigger. But once I found the right ammo it's incredibly accurate with Eley. From 25 yards to 100 it's subMoA for 5 shot groups which is excellent from a standard semiautomatic and cycles without issues.

    I have the B14 HMR in 6.5 C and that thing easily shoots sub 1/2 MOA when I do my part. Love it! I have a Christensen Arms Ranger .22 and it shoots Federal bulk box ammo pretty well (thankfully). It shoots CenterX in particular EXTREMELY well. I mean 1 hole kind of well! Its also very light weight. Travis didn't comment on that light weight making it unforgiving. It forces you to do everything right every time to wring the most out of it. Thanks!!

    I let my buddies talk me into trying NRL22. I got the B-14R carbon barrel, which they later told me was likely a bad choice. Whatever. The gun shoots lights out, I'm already scoring middle of the pack. Easily under 1/2' 50 yards. Decided I needed a BMR too for squirrel hunting so I got the carbon one. It shoots just as well. I was amazed. Decided I needed the carbon barrel BXR. Same thing. Then talked myself into a steel barrel BMR for base class. Once again I got a sub 1/2 MOA gun right out of the box. The B-14R likes SK Standard Plus. The other three all get those same results with Norma Tac-22. The Bergara .22's are just amazing. I love each one. So well made. So accurate. My only quip would be the BMR action isn't the smoothest. Still working to break those in, but for the money I'm impressed.

    Got a Harris bipod and a Bushnell Match Pro ED 5-30 x 56. Excellent performance both rifle and scope. 3/4" 100 yds. With a can all you hear is the hammer hit the firing pin and the round hitting the steel. Great trigger as well. Also purchased a BXR 10/22 clone. Not the same level of quality as the BMR under the hood that is. Shot good though. traded it back for a Ruger Competition, hasn't arrived at my FFL.

I have a current FFL-03 and COE and legally can order ammo for my personal use. I shoot in my local USPSA club matches and I can really burn up rounds. In addition to this, I am not restricted from purchasing more than one pistol or centerfire rifle per month. Not that I am buying that many guns per month. What has happened to 22 rf? I used to shoot 3 position smallbore with an Anschutz 1813 and Eley Tenex. Of course it shot great. The surprising thing was that EVERY marlin bolt action rifle that I shot Tenex out of would shoot under 3/8" at 50 yds, with most groups being closer to 1/4". The triggers were terrible, but the rifles were accurate. Eley's cheaper ammo would also stay at or under 3/8", as would a few other quality offerings that didn't break the bank. Today everyone looses their mind when something shoots under MOA out of a "target" rifle with a match trigger. I don't get it. Has quality gotten that bad?

    • @icepredatoroutdoors1229
      @icepredatoroutdoors1229 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly...as a kid. I got a Marlin 22lr bolt action with a $35 Tasco scope for X-mas. They were a Kmart blue light special for around $100. RWS subsonic at 50yrds printed .4 and .3 groups all day long! Why does that accuracy today...require a $1200 match rifle w a $1500 scope? Welcome to the future...i guess! It's just plain pathic!

    • @nospam3409
      @nospam3409 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@icepredatoroutdoors1229 in fairness, in the 90s, I remember all of the gun rags raving about how the newest rifle of the day would shoot MOA with hand loads, or for rimfire they were impressed with anything under 1" at 50 yds. My default response has always been "Every savage bolt action I've shot can do better than that". Back in the 90s, that was a genuine insult despite the fact that it was 100% true. It's never really about performance, it's all about advertising.

    So myself and a couple friends have some very well built 1022s. Extremely accurate with lot tested ammo. One of them also built a high end rimx. It is fantastic to shoot. My 1022 shoots very good groups out to 200 yards. However when we shoot at places that go to 300-400, it seems the rim x has an advantage. I understand that once to bullet leaves its external ballistics, but it always makes us scratch our heads. Have you tested this before?

    Find one with a 16 or 16.5 inch barrel and compare the velocities with one with an 18 inch barrel. I have recently been told by my gunsmith that recent tests have shown the optimum length barrel for velocity for a .22 long rifle is 16 inches. Supposedly the .22 bullet begins to slow after 16 inches. I would like to see it tested without having to do it myself. I guess I can though.

The day I was there the wind was quite gusty so I only shot it at 25 yds. However, the results were encouraging. I shot it with SK Standard + and then Lapua Midas+, the only two types of ammo I took that day. I quickly shot a couple of groups with the SK STD+ and average slightly under 1/2 inch. With the Midas+ the groups reduced to about 3/8 inch. At that point the wind really kicked up so I put the rifle away. So, I plan on going to the range tomorrow afternoon since it is supposed to be sunny and mid 50's in temp. The bmr isnt in the same class as an anshutz, that would be the b14r. Compared to the other rifles in its class, the bmr, Ruger precision, savage a22, ruger 10/22, it holds it own. I own three of the four i listed and it comes in solidly at 2nd place. The bmr will consistently hit a 4 in plate at 200 yards all day long. It averages 1 moa with almost every type of ammo i have shot threw it. The only complaints i really have with mine are: 1 it has a low comb hight, the stock was made for a action using iron sights which it doesn’t have so a cheek riser is mandatory. 2 it is ammo picky. It really hates hv ammo. Stay below 1100 fps it shoots great all day but go over 1200 and it groups like a shot gun. The gun does show real promise and i am hoping the aftermarket catches up to it. It has been 100% reliable over about 1500 rounds. I am hoping that soon some chassis will be released for it as well as aftermarket barrels, when they are i am turning this into my open division gun.

    • @quietm4

      Any Rem 700 pattern trigger...but most likely not a flat faced trigger. Doesn't look like the trigger guard will allow that shape of trigger.

    This is a great rifle and platform with one downfall. BERGARA if you’re listening, please produce this with what if for the most part the industry standard Ruger 10/22 mag!! The BXR does this. Why wouldn’t the BMR?

    • @martinm.5588
      @martinm.5588 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Travis Fox still planning the setup including a light scope with parallax adj and a max. zoom of 12x. A Meopta Optika5 or a Zerotech Thrive have 60 MOA in the stats. The Leupold and the Athlon I d pick have 80 MOA. But I honestly dont know the real adjustment range.

    • @baconator754
      @baconator754 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regrettably, bargain ammo may group well at times, but isn’t consistent enough to be counted on to show a rifle at its best. LOTS of folks enjoy stuff like CCI SV, even for some types of competition, but flyers will appear; bet on it. Consistency is what you pay for when you buy the pricey stuff.

    I have the B14R with steel barrel. I bought the barreled action and then put it in a Magpul 700 stock. It is fairly heavy and definitely a bench rest sort of configuration; not an "all day pack around in the hills". I haven't lifted a carbon barrel version as of yet, so I don't know what that weighs. This newer BMR will definitely be in my sights for a future purchase.

    • @johnwhite5557
      @johnwhite5557 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was looking at the barreled action. I couldn't find any photos that shows it coming with the bolt. If fact some of the comments at Buds guns asked that question and were told to call Bergara customer service. It wouldn't make sense to not come with a bolt. So? Did it come with the bolt or was it extra? I will pass it along to Buds guns. Thanks and hope you enjoy what looks like a well built rifle. John White

    • @quietm4
      @quietm4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Travis Fox My Bergara B14R once shot a 0.13" 5-shot group with Center-X. Key word being "once". A 6x5 target group is much more indicative of a rifles performance. You cherry picked only the best groups to show, completely excluded the Midas+, and didn't even mention the other two ammo types you shot. It is very poor data to pick from. I remember this channel used to be about data driven conclusions and reviews...now it's all about hyping products you either got for free or are paid to give good reviews. That is lame.

    I know the B14R will, I am just thinking long-term.......can someone purchase this as a squirrel rifle for a young shooter and then upgrade it to a PRS trainer rifle in the future?

    • @jeffkingsley8964
      @jeffkingsley8964 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The BMR is built on a dedicated rimfire receiver as opposed to the Remington 700 receiver for the B14R. The only thing that will interchange between the BMR and the B14R is the trigger.
