A divine piece of playing, amongst so many of du Pré. It's all been said about her, a phenomenon of a musician, a cellist who soon shone among the older masters around her (great ones too) to the point that she was fast put on their plane. In what ever she tackled she found triumph, for the cause of the music, none more so than in her Master Classes on the BBC, for the young players' sakes, as she approached the end of her life. Please TH-cam, please show them, true heart and soul shakers.

Her sister Hilary wrote that when they showed Jacqueline samples of roses, she could no longer see well and so picked the rose to be named for her by its scent. One of them was planted at her gravesite.

Sono uno sconfinato ammiratore di questa artista straordinaria e mi commuovo sempre ascoltando le sue numerose e preziose testimonianze interpretative. In lei c'era molto di più che tecnica e musicalità, era una delle poche che sapeva trasportarti nel "cuore" della musica stessa per poi scomparire, come a dire: io non sono che un tramite per questo...

***** I think that you are probably right, 1963 she went to Paris to study under Tortelier and let her hair grow long. This was probably a BBC recording, once she started her professional career her accompanist was no longer her mother.

Good morning sir: would you be so kind as to indicate the year of this recording?
why does y-t not make sure of more info about recordings? I am a 'Cellist, playing professionally long enough to retire from one of the best orchestras on the West Coast, and it would help me in my studies and teaching to know when it was recorded, and how old she was when she made it. Does anyone know?
