I don't mean any harm, but I don't really like exaggerated emotional expressions from performers, so it's refreshing to see calm expressions like this.
I prefer these musician's time 17th century living over today. I much prefer this music. Bach, Handel 1685 births, what are the odds of creating two giants in the same y. Richter is one of the best to bring this to our ears
10:16 This brings tears to my eyes right there. 😭 Karl plays the organ very emotionally. It’s beautiful! The third movement is very emotional and makes me cry every time I listen to Karl’s version.
He was a fine artist, wonderful also his orchestra, the Münchener Bach Orchester. How interesting the combination harpsichord organ and orchestra! Karl Richter..yes I remember him quite well.
Solid interpretation. I have always appreciated any performance involving Carl Richter. Always the very best. No fancy improvisation that we see done by American organists at times.
Good interpration! And a very funny video at the same time: the orchestra sitting with their backs to the public (or where the public is supposed to be) and the director sitting behind the keyboard of the organ. With his back to the orchestra, turning around every once in a while, to see if everybody is still there... But all jokes aside; it's a magnificent piece of music!
Konstantin Fotiadis
This concerto is spectacular. It sounds way ahead of its time. Due to its greatness and thematic development it reminds me of Beethoven and the romantic composers. Op 4 and op 7 are musical gems. Handel + Richter = greatness and perfection
Remenber that Handel don't use pedal in his organ works. Bach's organ works are more complex and difficult to play (Look at his Trio Sonatas or BWV 542 and BWV 548).
@@Xxxxxxx-i7oHandel in England did not have the large organs that there were in Germany, so he had to adapt to the circumstances. Also that has nothing to do with my comment. Handel's organ concertos have a musical grandeur and majesty that reminds me of romanticism. I hate it when Bach "fans" disparage other composers. It's really annoying.
Precioso y corto.
I just finished seeing a documentary in youtube honoring Maestro Karl Richter. Most people who appreciated and admired Richter should see this video. It is spoken in German wwith French subtitles. As to the present Handel organ concert, played and directed by Richter, not much to say. Just perfect.
+Manfred Lauterbach, He always let the music and his playing display and transfer all the emotion when he played. Thaetrics are for clowns and stage actors.
It is something he does (did) deliberately, and learned from his teachers who taught that music should be created without signs of exertion - the emotion should be expressed in the music. His conducting is similar: whereas many conductors dance around and grimace; Richter, according to someone who sang in his choir said, "directed us with the tip of his baton and his eyes".
Wonderful stuff - one of the favourites of my late father. I wonder that this piece in particular isn't more famous. It seems quite sumptuous for Baroque and almost romantic (even though I understand Richter was usually against that kind of treatment, especially of Bach). Quite "dancey" in places, too (although maybe not so much in this recording compared to others of Richters'). Just great...
Yes!!!. It sounds way ahead of its time. Due to its greatness and thematic development it reminds me of Beethoven and the romantic composers. Handel + Richter = greatness and perfection
Carl is Still the The King after All. These Decades !!! Thank God These Immortal Performances Were Captured for Historical Posterity so that Future Generations may Marvel at the Brilliance of this Great Artist!!!
This is such a treat for the ears AND the eyes! Truly divine music played masterfully and recorded with cinematography that would fit **perfectly** as an interlude within Kubrick's 2001 (the chroma would need a fair bit of tweaking first to fit, but whatever). Just marvelous all around!
Yes he's conducting. . It's totally antiphonal a conversation between organ and orchestra. This one responds to the voice of the other. Molto grazie It's encoyable
one of the most famous organ player and conductor ever lived
And stylish
This is amazing! so he plays the organ, he conducts the orchestra and he turns his own pages!!! He is not only a musician, he is a super hero!!!
That man is IN CONTROL!
¿Do you know who is Joe Hisaishi? He plays the piano and directs an orquestra in the same concert!!!
yes :)

Richter is still with us, when we listen him.

One of the most Wonderful scores of the baroque period: Handel: Organ Concertos op. 4 y 7

Indimenticabile Karl Richter: sempre attuale!
Just recently heard this heavenly piece on an archived music program.
It was glorious
Amazing how Richter was the soloist and conductor.
Budget hacks. 2 for the price of 1.

What a brilliant performance -- and a excellent recording: congratulations to both, M. Richter and the sound engineer!
Karl Ritcher, great organist and conductor. I love Haendel music.
7:56 When you hug your friend tightly when you haven’t seen them in 8+ years.
Very powerful part of this piece, brings tears to my eyes. 🥹
5:00-5:13 sends shivers down my spine like almost nothing else I know in terms of music... again and again.
Absolutely right
That was a time signature change to 3/4
Knew exactly what part you meant.

Sorpresa !!!! Richner con órgano. Divino !¡!! y con orquesta ,que gusto. !!!!¡
How have I never discovered this before? The interplay between the organ and the oboes is killing me.
I never knew pedant but me.
What a great man. Too sad he died so young.
All is fair in love, death, war, and music --

Sehr gut.
I'd have to say from overall performance, Karl Richter has to one of the best composers/musician of modern history.
I LOVE Handel

Hearing Handel is near to Godliness Pure music
Good clarity Good job by Karl and Great job by Haendel
He's doing it like good ol' father Handel, conducting from the keyboard instrument. That's what they always did in those days. ;)
2:16 This part is very intense. 😮
This brings goosebumps to my skin!
Music for the Kingdom .
This is really beautiful.
Its a shame he passed away so early. I'm glad his son followed in his foot steps.
amazing sound beauty !!!
perfect and glorious !!!
MAESTRO!
Händel + Richter = Best conbination!!!
fantastic interpretation
Just wonderful Richter. R.I.P. His Matthew's Passion (1994?)here on uTube is certainly,in my opinion , the best I have heard over many decades
his 1958 cd version is even better!
1971

Karl Richter always is the best player for Bach’s music !
Und er tut es mit his Rücken to the Orchester, spielt mit einer Hand und dirigiert with the other. Quelle jongleur!

How well is the blend. Superb
Amo Handel.
It is one of my favourite Organ Concertos. I learn the Opus 4 for Organ.
Gracias por compartir tan deliciosa música. ¡¡FELICIDADES!! 🍀
great work and poweeful interpretation
The real values!
This.. is.. awesome. I sure wouldn't be able keep such a straight face when playing music like this :j
Agreed! Particularly at 2:16 - I become so entranced by the power of the music, and can hardly believe that Richter looks so calm!
