You actually can open up the claws, it is scary at first, but the plastic is durable enough.
oh hi dude.
iv been on your "art" site, nice stuff there hehe
anyway any upcoming videos no hurry just curious
holy shit biorock i never expected to see *you* here.
+chase1146 I know right
7:55 You can actually open up the pincers, it just takes some force. It's kind of a scary amount of force, but it's possible.
Fun fact TJ
Scorponok actually transformed into the engine of blackouts helicopter mode, hence the explosive decals on his face and the no step decals
You joke about how the Age of Extinction Dinobots look like they're made of shrapnel, but this guy is LITERALLY made from shrapnel...okay, in this case it's more like he's made of scrap metal, but the joke is still there!
yep
Well the shrapnel look is a Decepticon thing so having the Dinobots look like that is kinda screwed up lol
scorpionoc looks like a body builder in robot mode
He has all that deco on him because he is made from black out in I think the opening scene of the first movie he is fired from blackout's back
EDIT: Sry TJ forgot that u knew that.
Since Scorponok is symbiotically part of Blackout, he forms a turbine witch explains the fuel/caution stamps.
For some reason I loved this design in the movie along with blackout and that was about it from all the movies I liked and a bit of brawl
Since it's not supposed to have a robot mode, would you call this an "obtrusive gimmick?"
I remember in Sean Long's review he made a costom robot mode by flipping the original robot mode upside down.
my pincers open on mine, and the gimmick works
My figure could open its claws up
Mine too. but it requires some muscle.
If you can manage to open up the claws, you can create a fan mode where the claws become feet and the stinger forms the head.
I remember getting this I found it weird myself but the weird robot grew to me
The way the claw mandibles are structured is universal across the line. Every Scorponok from this line was built like that. Each mandible has a super hard, super tough joint, but they open. Trust me (and others on here), I have the same toy and I thought for the longest time there was no possible way they could open. You just have to put a little elbow grease into it the first time you open them. They won't break either. They're made of some pretty tough plastic.
Funnily enough, I miscalled him "Scorponox" when I was a kid. Bay's not the only one with problems, it seems. :P
All the printed warning signs are leftovers from Blackout, since Scorponok is technically spawned directly from his metallic hide...
I liked how he has the reverse of most scorpion themed robots in that his claws hold the guns while his tail is purely a melee weapon. Most others are the reverse, with the exception of BW Scorponok.
actually his pincers do open up, I wasn't sure at first because they are a little stiff but yes they do open if you Aline them with the gaps.
After a quick google of scorpions...
I can confidently say that that the number of legs a scorpion has depends on the scorpion portrayed.
Some have six excluding Claws, some have eight.
I remember loving the legends version of this as a kid. I remember it had more of a robot mode than this one.
I'd say that Scorponok is probably one of my favorite Movie 1 Deluxes, because yes gimmicks were just stupidly fun. I think they know the Scorpion mode was really the only appeal (considering the half-baked robot mode) so they went all out to make that mode the really good one.
I believe he is meant to be part of Blackouts fuselage tank or some other part of the Helicopter blackout is. That's what an aircraft mechanic told me and I thought that was pretty cool.
I think the Legends-class version did better in forming a robot mode.
do you recon Scorpinok will get released in Titan Returns
The gimmick/gears on my Scorponok figure also doesn't work anymore.
In the movie tie in comics, he had a robot mode. It's really close to his toy version
TJ, the danger signs and Decals on Scorponok are not meant to be a part of Blackout, they are meant as a disguise for when he was on Cybertron, he would hide in scrap metal piles and ambush enemies when they were not expecting it
...with english writing?
Perhaps when Blackout took his helicopter form, Scorponok followed suit by changing his cybertronian script into earth language to allow for the effect to be preserved against humans.
This guy was one of the first transformers I ever got (technically it was actually the 2009 repaint) after one of my friends gave it to me. Literally all of my friends had a scorponok, but the strange thing was that none of us had a figure with all of its legs. Some of us had the claw parts missing (like me). Some of us were missing whole legs (also like me). My best friend's copy didn't have any legs. So i don't know if our figures just lost legs easily or if this was a widespread issue.
I think scorponok was supose tô be a prototype rescue veicle
Ever seen the fan modes of this guy? It's a far better transformation then the actual intended transformation and makes him look like a molten dragon with no wings.
Scorponok is part of blackout cause he has label's on blackout and they came attach to scorponok that's why there's labels on scorponok also that number you read is the helicopter number of blackout
In the movies scorpiok is an insecticon or spasificly an aracnicon
He does have a fanmode using the claws as feet and the tail as a head. Try it out!
I always assumed that Scorponok was the twin engines/some other parts from blackouts engine section, considering where he pops out. Love this toy and this character to death. Wish his claws tapered off a little bit towards the tips. I have so many of these now.
the claws actually do open and there is a rubber band in the middle of the toy that also broke on mine, its replaceable and makes the gimmick work again
He turns into a generator that powers the main propeller based on the concept art.
Most scorponok transform in the same way, now that I think about it. Claws into arms, legs fold out from sides, tail falls down and hopes really hard no one notices it.
Whats the fandom surrounding anthropomorphic insects called?
Since they have Titan Class Metroplex and Fortress Maximus in Titans return and Trypticon next year, I'd love to see a Titan Class Scorponok.
I feel like the "robot mode" is more of a "hey! We know it's not much but here's a dumpy little robot you can play with when not playing with a scorpion!" mode. Like the same mindset as an Easter Egg.
The Library yeah he needs a robot head
You can open the claws, you just really gotta force it
I love that toy! He doesn't need a bot mode
and there's a third (fan) mode, using the tale as a head and his arms as legs
Didn't show off the cool fan-made kaiju mode? I mean, you gotta open the claws for it, but it totally redeems the robot mode.
I remember owning this. I'm not sure what happened to it.
the beast wars mcdonalds scorpinoc had a more complex transformation.
statement:in my head cannon i alwase imagine scoponok paired with soundwave or shockwave. (kind of like ravage and lazerbeak)
Have you seen the new scorponok from rid 2015 cause I think it's cool. I just hope it's digigrade legs😖 won't make it plastic addict worthy.P.S Paralon is a remold of the toy I mentioned is a homage to Beast Wars Scorponok with a hammer tail instead of a stinger.
Mine is missing half a leg and the gimick basically doesnt work at all but i still love it
Just wondering when the crankcase review will be done? Or do you not know yet/have no schedule for it ?
I'm pretty sure this Scorponok transforms the exact same way as the McDonalds Beast Wars Scorponok toy.
So how did this not end up on Plastic Addict?
Accurate and cool robo-scorpion mode if you're into the aesthetic, and a fun gimmick as long as it doesn't break on you. It's on the edge but I decided there wasn't enough to make fun of.
TJOmega True, the scorpion mode looks pretty solid. I didn't think it transformed at all when I first saw it.
Same, even if it doesn't look all that great.
+The Wayward Wobbuffet Why don't you go make your own 15 - 30 minute show with a comedy filled script and heavy amounts of set up and editing and see if you can keep it up weekly/biweekly with a hectic family life and a job OTHER than TH-cam?
The Wayward Wobbuffet You do realize that it's his show and not yours, right? TJ is the one that ultimately gets to choose what he reviews for Plastic Addict.
I got a lot off eBay with the tf2 repaint of this guy (missing both legs). Am I the only one thinking that this could work as some silent hill mechanical monster thing (exspecially without his legs. I think I have a new repaint idea.
Strange, both examples of the toy I have seen in person (One I own (Missing its legs currently) and one someone else owns) Still have their gearing working just fine. Huh.
you actually can open the claws up, ive done it many times on mine for the little fan made monster mode,
xD the comments about the Decals. My guess is that they were for some kind of scrapped base mode idea so he can disguise as that? Either that or the visible parts of him(when he's in a desert) shouldn't look too suspicious, then again why should they be visible in the first place?
Oh, or he is what you said, thought that he was a separate robot, minion of Blackout, being carried around just like in the Blackout toy.
On mine, the decals sadly started to break off and the claws are really heavy locked, don't want to risk breaking them so I guess I'll never open them. Mechanism still works and it's a bit surprising that they had shoulder joints like that, I do think that they will break after a long while but it's still impressive. If that was armada then the arms wouldn't have been moveable.
I think you are supposed to rotate the arms forward and then put them downwards via the elbows to properly transform him, also if you want you can rotate the legs outward by 90 degrees, moving the legs to the back, however this removes the knees.
In the movie, he transforms in a Blackout's engine
Mine luckily still works fine for the gimmick, so not sure what went wrong on yours. Mine got fiddled with enough too as it is a surprisingly fun gimmick.
Also his 'alt mode' is actually Blackout's Engine, hence the markings.
Ehhh it’s not just yours I remember mine when I still had it the right claw didn’t work well either
wtf are the pegs and holes on his back for?
Is Scorpionoc made out of scrap metal
tj omega scirponox is suppose to be one for blackout fuel tanks. they can't make scorponok transform into a fuel tank. it wouldn sell.
it was stated by bay himself.
I was wrong it is a turboshaft engine
Kind of a shame TJ didn't show the popular "monster mode" for this guy. It's a lot better than his actual robot mode. If you wanna see how that looks, check out runescape228 and his review on this guy.
There was actually a fan mode where you would use the arms as the legs, the legs as the arms and the tail as the head. Only works if you can open the claws though. www.angelfire.com/scifi/bbfortress/movscorponokarm.jpg
Abejorro97 I MADE THAT WITHOUT KNOWING IT WAS ACTUALLY A FAN MODE!
It looks ridiculous AF XD
looks dumb
Baltmatrix came up with a better robot mode. Just look up his review of movie Scorponok
TJ if you get the chance to read this but 2 of your old TJTV, stuff no longer works. So can you please when you have time fix them, for people to watch here on TH-cam or on your website. Also those 2 videos are your Kamen Rider W crossover and the Top 10 WTF Moments in Kamen Rider. Thank you.
Most of the TJ TV links on the website do not work right now due to Blip shutting down. I meant to restore them once a new version of the site was online but I haven't had time to work on it. As for TH-cam, TJ TV will never be posted here due to the site's non existent policy on fair use.
+TJOmega I see, and thank you for replying back to my message have a good day man.
Honestly, I would have prefer this version of Scorponok to transform from scorpion into a vehicle of sorts instead of... Whatever that is.
omg he from beast wars
megatron: YEAAASSS
The "pincers" on my figure do open and close.
What a strange figure. Nice review TJ!
2:12 i know why theres a 360 there
360 NO SCOPE
now being serious thats beacause in the movie hes part of blackout and maybe blackout got the same markings in vehicle mode
oh you pointed out that same point in the video, nice
do you have his ROTF redeco
At the risk of being presumptuous. Since this toy lives and dies by the gimmicks, doesnt really transform, and isnt able to do much because of those gimmicks, it seems like this toy would have been a perfect target for Plastic Addict.
I actually thought this was a happy meal toy when I first saw it at a friend's house xD
The claws do open. Mine works fine.
You can open the claws on him.
what is skorponok's alt mode? I know that his """alt""" mode is the scorpion mode but to me it looks like something from a jet. Anyone know?
i dont really think so, black out and skorponok were separated after the qatar base attack, skorponok was still in the desert in ROTF and blackout was seen flying in the city towards the end of the movie.
mariofalz It's supposed to be one of Blackout's engines, but seeing as the engines transform into Blackout's arms that doesn't really work out.
mariofalz it's an engine
so did Takara repaint him into Black Zarak?
Not really, but we did get Stalker Scorponok in ROTF to go with Grindor, he's mostly black and has a sorta hidden Predacon symbol on him that like made outta cyberglyphs.
Oh wow that's kind of cool
It's really hard to see this toy as remotely intimidating when you've read the Insecticomics several times over the way I have. This thing is just cute to me, now.
At least the repaint of him, Dark Scorponok, is much better looking than the original.
Not a fan of Blackout's repaint, Grindor though....
The claws do open.
You can open the pincers TJ!!
"GET OVER HERE!"
TJ, didnt you say, once upon a time, that if a toy is broken you wouldnt review it? i'd say a non functioning gimmick pretty much rules this guy out from being reviewed. also, i'm assuming you didnt actually demonstrate the "combination" with Blackout because you dont have a Blackout anymore?
(Its on wikipedia, I decided it to read it one day)
hi
I think my favorite aspect about this design is that Scorponok is intended to transform into Blackout's engine, but his kibble suggests he's made up of THREE engines. I guess Blackout's going cross country...?
probably
LEFT CHEEK LEFT CHEEK!
Scorpions have between 6 and 12 eyes
Should it not be uneven numbers as they have one of those 'central' eyes on top?
me gustó el video soy Julián gracias
Nice scorpion mode.
Lame Robot mode.
I actually got my scorponok's claws to open up. I wouldn't recommend it, however, as it forces the gears to lock up, making the arms nearly impossible to pose. You can force them to move, but it is not good for the longevity of the toy.
he he 'bugged me'
Not a bug
I'm able to open the claws on my figure
Read the annotations, I know. Two dozen people have already told me the same thing, but mine are too tight to open.
+TJOmega although I know you can't do this because of the class not folding on yours, you can transform him into a better robot. check out the review baltmatrix did to get a better idea.
+Wireless_Phantom *claws
drop kick it
A for effort.
Scorpions have 8 limbs, 6 legs 2 arms. That's why that third-party Scopinok is inaccurate. This one is accurate to real scorpions.
Actually, they do have 4 pairs of legs, while the arms are their pedipalps which have evolved into claws.
Google a scorpion, count the limbs, the only ones with 4 pairs of legs are artists renditions. pseudo scorpions have 2 pairs. Why is this such a difficult concept.
You mean besides all of the photos where they clearly have 8 legs? Or the Wikipedia article that's second line literally says they have 8 legs and two grasping pedipalps and includes a biology diagram showing 4 pairs of legs?
TJOmega I see now that the 4th pair is obsured in litterally all the pics I've found. I noticed that one of the pics shows 4 on one side but only 3 on the closer one, it must be obscured then. Sorry guys.
Perspective. The front legs are the smallest and are often covered in photos by the pedipalps.
bayformers scorponok is honestly one of the worst incarnation of scorponok...
Yep
+Cat Vs Dog gaming yep
+The Wayward Wobbuffet how?
+The Wayward Wobbuffet what about the animated one, who was smaller than a minicon, and only appeared in Bots of Science, for one pannel.
LOL
