    Dear console players, the pillar map is very underated when learning DAR.
    For some context, Lethamyr's Giant Rings Level 1-5, I can complete within 1-2 minutes without resetting or hitting any of the rings, but that damn Pillar map makes me feel like a Silver and I truly don't know why lol. To me, the pillars map is almost as difficult as level 5-6 of the Giant Rings map.
    Here are some training tips on Pillars to help overall improvement.
    Each step is not completed until you can do them comfortably (at least 3 times with not mistakes).
    1. Aerial in a figure 8 (no restrictions)
    2. Aerial in a figure 8 (no restrictions) about 1 car length from the ceilling, you should be feathering your boost.
    3. Aerial in a figure 8 without ball cam and without air roll.
    4. Aerial in a figure 8 with ball cam and without air roll.
    *Advance*
    5. Aerial in a figure 8 with air roll and without ball cam.
    6. Aerial in a figure 8 with air roll and with ball cam.
    *Increase difficulty for step 1-6* - Once you're comfortable doing each step add these to make them more difficult, feel free to think of ways to challenge yourself.
    1. Aerial in a figure 8 and each time you pass the ball toggle your camera.
    2. Aerial in a figure 8 and each time you pass the ball change direction (go backwards).
    *Side Quests*
    1. Practice flying backwards (hood facing away) from one goal to the other.
    2. Practice jumping off the wall and flying backwards (hood facing away) to a location on the map (could be the corner of the other goal).
    3. While practicing side quest 1 and 2, about half way to your destination, flip your car (hood is now facing you).

    I’m a GC with over 2000 hours in this game and while I am really good at regular air roll, I pretty much only use directional air roll for half flips because I only binded it recently and put 0 effort into learning it for my aerials.
    You might not need directional air roll to get to GC, but boy do I wish I was using 1000 hours ago because then I’d be insane right now. It’s one of those things that is best learned early on so you get immense amount of practice with it while learning the game. Now that I already “learned” the game, it is harder to learn these new tricks. I am still struggling to remember to use half flips since I went so long without them lol.

    • @atari.-4746
      @atari.-4746  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yessir that is the point of directional air roll. Its like eating food. you dont need a spoon or fork to eat but they make life a lot easier. You expand your game both on offense and defense so much by using directional air roll so once you get basic aerials down you should start learning air roll left or right but hey better late than never!

    Most of the time, what angle you flip at the most is usually, NOT all the TIME, what air roll works best for you. For instance if I notice I flick my stick towards the left a lot I'll probably use air roll left. At the end of the day its which ever one registers the most in your brain. The best way I mastered it. Was forcing myself to use directional air roll in all my games, and I lost ALOT eventually it clicked after too many Ls. XD
    The best advice I can give that I can guarantee to help anybody, is to FREEPLAY and custom trainings. I cannot stress this enough, sit in Freeplay and Practice Practice practice. just hit the ball around the map. Until it becomes muscle memory. Thats how mechanics work in any game. If you don't force your brain to register something foreign to you, it will continue to be foreign. It took me almost 600hrs to learn to get a clean shot on the ball while in the air. You are gonna get frustrated, you will hate this game, you will be annoyed ALOT. That's part of the process. This applies to life, when you struggle with a task, over and over again, that is when the brain is at it's peak learning performance. Learning the mechanic is just the lil reward you get, the journey to learning the mechanic is the most important part.

    A good mental tip to remind people at the end is that you just need to keep playing.
    People compare themselves game to game, and day to day, but realistically they should be comparing themselves month to month. Only as you continue to play, train, and be exposed to challenging situations will you improve. It just takes time.

  • @pific7526
    @pific7526 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    the best thing to do is take the time to learn one specific direction such as left(or right). then eventually learn right(or left) your recoveries will get a massive improvement but also it practically unlocks a new way to create shots and dribbles. as-well as giving you crazy control over your car

    Couple of tips for you but video related not rocket league! Try a bit more energy in your voice to keep people captivated, and one thing that will more so help the viewers, when you show an example of you doing something (like when you showed the pitch up movement etc) show it over and over while you talk about it so the viewer gets it more engrained if that makes sense. I have over 3k hours in Rocket League and Im 1550mmr (GC1) in 2s, I have never used air roll right or left, i only used normal air roll. 3 days ago I started practicing air roll right, the second day i was able to complete the obstacle course in the workshop, thanks to your video, i just jumped into freeplay and i got my first wall air dribbles from both sides of the field. Im quite far from the skill i have in normal air roll, but if i keep practicing for 1-2 hours a day i think in less than a month i should be able to use it competitivly. I gotta say that i'm not a very mechanical player at all. Just to clarify, i am using Kevpert advanced aerial training plan to learn it and once i have a decent control on the advanced training plan i'll switch to the elite one.

      yes but on top u have to time it correctly or have to learn different directions as once cause it is something else if u r looking on top of your car or at the bottom, the direction will change if your car is facing top and u r looking at the bottom of your car

    • @Chris.tian_
      @Chris.tian_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      an example is if u normal jump and press up, your nose will go down but if your car is lying on the roof and u press up, your nose will go up

      I would recommend focusing on the baselines in this video and play around with it to build the muscle memory for it but if you do want me to be more specific on directions I would say move your stick to the left and down to fly to the right and left and up to fly to the left. Try it out and play with it a bit and once you get the feel built up it will become more instinctual vs having to think about your stick movements

    Hardest part for me right now is when im air rolling how can i controll going forward and backward. Do you just let off of air roll to make that adjustment

    • @atari.-4746
      @atari.-4746  ปีที่แล้ว

      your angle of your car should be determined on takeoff. you will use left and up on your stick to point your nose where you want to go. use left to move your nose up and use up to push your nose forward feather your stick movements like you do with your boost and practice. you will start to feel it out and figure it out. It is hard to explain over YT comments but if you want more help check out my discord in the description and I can help you further if you are still struggling!

    • @atari.-4746
      @atari.-4746  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      use what direction is more eye appealing. non directional air roll is mainly used for landings, recoveries and wavedashes. It makes your landings smoother and when binded to the same button as power slide it makes keeping your momentum a lot easier. There are some examples of this in my wavedash video

    • @atari.-4746

      left wall facing opp net is tornado spin(stick to left while holding air roll) until my nose is pointed towards the direction I want to go, right wall is just a half rotation until my car is facing right side up(wheels towards ground) Does that make sense? • @atari.-4746

      yes you would use right and up for air roll left. When I refer to switching the directions that is only for left and right. Up and down apply the same way for both air roll right and air roll left. hope that clears it up. Thanks for watching!

    I don't get the stick forward part. Wouldnt that change the direction you are flying?

    • @atari.-4746
      @atari.-4746  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It changes the direction your nose is facing but not the direction you are flying. if you move your stick back and forth between 10 and 3 o clock positions on your stick(air roll right) you will match the cars bumper to the ball and will get more controlled air dribbles. feel it out and keep practicing it and eventually with enough hours you will subconsciously make the necessary adjustments. Let me know if that helps!

    For air roll left, is pushing joystick up and pushing joystick up into the right the same movement?

    • @atari.-4746
      @atari.-4746  ปีที่แล้ว

      push up for air dribbles works for both left and right air roll. When I explain using left on your stick to pitch up for air roll right, just imagine im saying to the right for air roll left. (Up and down on your stick works the same for both air rolls, only left and right on your stick are opposite) does that make sense?

    I’d say I’m alright with AR-L and I do have air roll right bounce. Only use it occasionally as free roll you can only rotate on one axis while adjusting. Should I go ahead and learn air roll left and right?

    • @atari.-4746
      @atari.-4746  ปีที่แล้ว

      Learn one for now. You really don't need to learn both until you are very high level. Like at gc3, most pros only learn one because learning both leads to more variables in game, more inconsistency and double the hours to master air roll
