    The answer to the title is that they don’t work. They do make you more
    Likely to get sick, put you in a bad mood, and make you less likely to talk to anybody.

    Don’t forget to add, not only does up to 90% of the virus escape, studies show up to 60% of your breath can escape out the edges of the mask.. so we are talking as little as 4% filtration. The surgical mask a massive portion escapes around the edges, and if you look around most people have a large gap open at the top where your breath is pushed upward to hang in the air longer. Me, I just breath out of my nose like a normal person, downward so not to hang in the air as long. You can’t do that with a mask on.

    Medical grade masks designed to stop viruses aren't 25 bucks a piece for the fun of it.

      Alotta Fugina I red a bout 7 studies performed over a 10 or 12 year period.now 95 and clothe were tested they were independent studies and all 7 came up with the same results N95 made no difference but the cloth made you more susceptible to getting sick. Those studies cannot be found on line anymore.

    One common sense question:
    If this virus is as dangerous as we're being told it is.. why are these businesses (and other facilities) that are requiring masks, NOT placing biohazard waste receptacles that meet OSHA standards at all egress points for the safe depositing of non-reusable paper face masks?

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      cloth masks can be washed and are an individual responsibility. I have seen many a surgical mask discarded in parking lots when a garbage can would suffice. We do not use biohazard waste for surgical masks in the hospital.

    • @bsenka
      @bsenka 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NurseMinder They definitely use biohazard waste containers in the hospitals I've been in if someone is wearing them in the suspected proximity of someone with an infectious disease such as TB or MRSA -- mask, gloves, gown, etc, all are turned inside out when removed so as to not touch any potentially infected surface, and stuffed into the secured receptacle that is designated for those materials only. If they do not do that in your hospital, that concerns me.

    Well this didn't age well. Considering CDC now state the efficacy is not valuable. And some are detrimental.
    The weight of guidelines vs mandate has a large impact as well. Take a look at the Ontario Canada nurses union law suite against masks....a 2018 adjudication that also verified surgical masks ineffective in viral settings. And merely a signaling device.

      That is a lengthy report. Interesting read (scanned for highlights after reading several pages). Seems the root of the issue was not so much the mask use, rather the reason for asking was to boost immunization rates in 2014 to 2018. The policy was “vaccinate or mask” and we don’t have a vaccination for covid so the comparison is not linear. While I personally feel a one size fits all approach is not right (where I live we have 9 cases per 100000) and masking is required all day in the hospital and in public government places. This seems unreasonable in my mind. It is an interesting time and I thank you for this info. It certainly had me considering some new elements

    People should wear surgical mask when ever they can.... They are back on the market now, it is way more effective in protecting both wearer and other people...... Our government is too slow in explaining things and it is causing US people doing a half ass job against the virus..... It is time to let people know, surgical mask is much better
