I actually still have the stock carb just re jetted it and make the intake better. It runs good, just don't know if its worth getting another carb. But keep the videos up from another Illinois resident.
J Saul thanks for the comment and feedback! I live my clone. I think they get too much hate. I’ve heard of rejetting the stock carb! And if it works for you that’s all that matters! I wanted more top end so I went with a bigger carb.
@@darkowlmoto they do get to much hate, I think as long as you have some basic knowledge of bikes for the money you can not beat these clones. I think I will end up going to a bigger carb just been spending that money on other mods for the time being, I do like the carb and manifold setup you have, I may have to buy it. With that intake manifold, have you had any issues of it staying on the carb?
J Saul I did on one occasion recently, that was due to the fact of it simply not being tight enough as well as me having the clamp farther away from the lip of the carb. So I just ended up moving the clamp to the very edge of the manifold. And tightened it down really good.
B Jay definitely have ridden long distances! If its properly maintained and oil is changed right when you receive it youll be set! Ive ridden for hours on end loads of times.
B Jay youre good! My average top speed was 64mph with the nibbi carb and sprocket upgrades as well as the performance CDI. I was running a 17/32 i believe on the hellcat in terms of sprockets. I used 93 octane fuel. And i also used amsoil 10w/40 motorcycle oil.
@@darkowlmoto okay I’m thinking about getting one I know nothing about bikes but it’ll just be something to ride around my city and I’d have no clue how to fix something just hoping there wouldn’t be a lot of maintenance needed besides oil changing
@@Winningsince95 me personally I did it every 500 miles. Mainly because it's a cheap engine and two I only did this for the first few changes. Oil is sort of cheap depending on what brand you get too. I did this just to be on the cautionary side and make sure the engine lasts.
These really aren't bad little bikes, for the price It's beats a Grom easy. There's a ton of upgrades for them, and I'm thinking about grabbing one if I can find one for a good price. I've ridden a few, and also my buddies decked out Grom, the Grom's faster, but it's also got about 3k of upgrades on it lol. Altho check tensions and torques if you get one tho, that's an issue these do have.
brandonludvik no I just removed the rear foot pegs since I didn’t use them. And when I got the exhaust I decide to use it as a mount. No drilling required.
Hey bro how many miles you put into it so far? And how long you think these bikes will last with proper maintenance? My friend just got one a few days ago it looks sick
I purchased one from Venommotorsportsusa.com and this one here from familygocarts.com both took about a week to get! Keep in mind times very now tbat they are a hot commodity. Some places are sold out.
I have a Vader boom 125, just took off all the emissions stuff. Plugging the holes(3of them). The main jet in mine is a 78, I just put in an 82...am I just waisting my time with this carb, ( I’m still learning) it seems like I have a low end carb? Any thoughts?
You’re going to have to cross reference with the stock speedometers wiring harness the best you can. A volt meter will help you out as well when it comes to finding current in certain wires. It’s a tedious process but it can be done. Also depending on what speedometer you buy it does come with a wiring diagram that can also help.
Hows the gearing on the bike? I bought mine today after having an auto similar to the ssr razkull. For starters the clutch gets engaged with the first gear. Boom click down first gear. My problem is that it does not go slightly to neutral in fact it doesn't engage at all. With some acceleration and wiggle from the clutch itself is when it finally engages neutral is that something you had trouble with ?
While the notorious neutral seems more prominent in these Chinese clones, I will say usually it depends on the adjustment of your clutch cable which can be done right at the clutch lever. Too much or too little slack can cause shifting to be a pain in the ass. But to answer your question in short No I didn’t have issues really. But again failed neutrals are a thing sometimes with these bikes. Me specifically I had no issues and if I did I just recommend adjusting the clutch cable correctly. Hope this helps!
That’s crazy! Off of a off brand engine u got serval thousand miles?? How were you able to prolong the engine that long? Honest question as I’ve NEVER heard or seen one lasting more than 2k miles….
Oh yes most definitely. Grom can last up to 15,000 miles before you may have a problem, so after saying this you know the engine is built to last and making a daily driver is some decent work for an engine
Yo dude I'm 16 thinking of getting it as my first bike for $130 I can get a good one I'll have to get it registered but $130 for a bike that runs well damn? How's the fuel efficiency on the clones does it break often and can I ride 200+ km for long trips
You can fuel economy is great! It’s a fun cruiser and a blast to get around on. Just really watch and maintain that oil! More frequently than normal just check it often.
Purchased mine from FamilyGoKarts.com I personally didn’t have any issues and customer service was very nice. If you order from them make sure you do everything in the emails and that’s required to ensure a smooth purchase/delivery
Motto Vloggster so those aren’t being sold anymore. But you can type in “universal brake and clutch levers” on amazon and or eBay and you’ll get several kinds! Hope this helps!
Jorge Naranjo it wasnt bad if you have common understanding of soldering and connecting the right wires. If anything its kind of tedious. Just time consuming mainly. It should come with a chart or diagram with the speedo. You just beed to find a hellcat speedo wiring diagram.
What mods have you done other than that? I recommend using a bigger nibbi racing carb and find the right jetting. Premium fuel. And a quality Performance CDI. You’ll also want to look at a sprocket chart for the best gearing and top speed.
I have a mikuni carb on it i havent taken the second exhaust thing on bottom off yet waiting on plate and idk what you mean by jetting other then the brass inside carb
@@Frankosclone so the jetting is referring to the jets inside the carb. Main jet, pilot jet, choke, leak jets. The nibbi carb I purchased has a bigger slide and In,etc than most mikuni carbs that are purchased for these clones. With a higher volume of air and the wide range of jetting options with the nibbi racing carb you’ll have enough to make more power. What do you mean second exhaust thing? I’m assuming you mean the little resonator on the bottom straight pipe piece. That won’t do much if you remove it. It’s just a resonator. No huge performance gains when removing that. Sprockets also play a big part in top speed.
Over all it sounds like an issue with the carb itself. Adjusting it will make it run a lot better. Either you’re getting too much fuel or not enough. Best way to check is the spark plug.
DarkOwlMoto dope what’s your insta!! You just take the MCO and bill of sale to a dmv. The bike comes with those. Or they mail them to you from where you purchased them from.
Man, your bike is beautiful. I'd love to have one of these clones and mod It like crazy but I'd have no idea how to do any of it. I suppose a cheap bike like this is probably a good place to start though
It’s SUPERA EASY to mod. I’d suggest checking out the clone groups on Facebook!
Hey man, like the video. I got a tao tao myself, got it about three months ago and can't complain about it. Wish I would of had this video to go off of so I didn't have to search for mods.
J saul where at in Illinois I own a 17 z125 would be down to ride also a Illinois resident! Winnebago county
Anything Motors Peoria Illinois!
The bike looks so sick. I love the turn signals there next level sorry I’m gonna to copy on my bike LOL
Have you rode long distances what's your thoughts on it im considering buying one in the next month bike looks sick man
B Jay definitely have ridden long distances! If its properly maintained and oil is changed right when you receive it youll be set! Ive ridden for hours on end loads of times.
@@darkowlmoto what are you getting gas wise on the gallon and what are you averaging on speed and what oil are you using sorry for the questions
B Jay MPGs i couldnt say as i went up on my fuel jets since i ran a bigger carb.
Is there a lot of maintenance the bike needs regularly
Just routine oil changes. It is wise to replace certain things when it arrives anyhow which costs Penny's on the dollar for longevity
@@darkowlmoto okay I’m thinking about getting one I know nothing about bikes but it’ll just be something to ride around my city and I’d have no clue how to fix something just hoping there wouldn’t be a lot of maintenance needed besides oil changing
How is the reliability?
I have a Chinese 125cc scooter for a while it’s been holding up pretty good I was debating on picking up one of these
Reliability is great! I just changed my oil often as well as checked it often. I rode mine pretty hard also.
@@darkowlmoto How often would you need to do an oil change?
@@Winningsince95 me personally I did it every 500 miles. Mainly because it's a cheap engine and two I only did this for the first few changes. Oil is sort of cheap depending on what brand you get too. I did this just to be on the cautionary side and make sure the engine lasts.
Did you need resistors for turn signals? If so which ones thanks.
Peep18m nope not at all! Plug and play all the way!
Truth loctite is your best friend.
do you recommend a rocket 150cc?
Not sure I’m familiar with that model.
Did you have to drill into the back footpeg bracket to mount the exhaust?
brandonludvik no I just removed the rear foot pegs since I didn’t use them. And when I got the exhaust I decide to use it as a mount. No drilling required.
Looks good! Great Review
Hey bro how many miles you put into it so far? And how long you think these bikes will last with proper maintenance? My friend just got one a few days ago it looks sick
I put about 4k miles on mine. They can lost a long while if maintained properly. However every one of these clones have their pros and cons.
What dealer did you buy from, and how long did it take to show up?
I purchased one from Venommotorsportsusa.com and this one here from familygocarts.com both took about a week to get! Keep in mind times very now tbat they are a hot commodity. Some places are sold out.
How’s the bike now after 2 years, still have it?
Sold it but it’s still rolling!
What is the top speed you can get up to?
I got mine up to 65mph
I have a Vader boom 125, just took off all the emissions stuff. Plugging the holes(3of them). The main jet in mine is a 78, I just put in an 82...am I just waisting my time with this carb, ( I’m still learning) it seems like I have a low end carb? Any thoughts?
It depends on how it performs. If you like how it performs then keep it! Also what are you trying to get out of it?
You sound like Deadpool lol.
Not gonna lie I can kinda see that going back and listening lol
U have the link for the bright white headlight kit?
Yep! I think I forgot to put that in the description. I’ll do that now.
I know nothing about bikes 😔. How do you install a speedometer?
You’re going to have to cross reference with the stock speedometers wiring harness the best you can. A volt meter will help you out as well when it comes to finding current in certain wires. It’s a tedious process but it can be done. Also depending on what speedometer you buy it does come with a wiring diagram that can also help.
@@darkowlmoto Dang, thank you for that speedy reply!
@@darkowlmoto Tha KS a bunch man. I appreciate it my man 💪
@@darkowlmoto man, so I changed the shift pedal and bro the gears are buttery now. Amazing
@@Hogib35 right on man!
I held MODE and it changed 4 colors
Can you stretch and lower these too!
Yes you can
Hey how many miles were you able to get out of it
I put on several thousand before I sold it. But then it got ruined by some young kid who didn’t know How to ride
That’s crazy! Off of a off brand engine u got serval thousand miles?? How were you able to prolong the engine that long? Honest question as I’ve NEVER heard or seen one lasting more than 2k miles….
@@austinVloggs390 I put 3k miles on mine but I always changed the oil early always. And I never did a ton of wheelies either
Is this a vader or icebear???
Mine was the tao tao hellcat
Big fan now 🙌
Vann Wilder good to hear!
i need those exact bars how did you find them
That’s a good question I cannot find them anywhere! They were on eBay!
I got the same dash is there a way you can tell me how to hook it up
Dee Brown youll want to cross reference wires from a vader or a hellcat via china riders forum with the wire diagram that came with your cluster!
DarkOwlMoto it didn’t come with one
Dee Brown follow me on IG and ill upload a photo
DarkOwlMoto ok just did
What’s the link for the handlebars?
The handlebars are no longer sold unfortunately
A Grom clone just as a fun / and stunt bike sounds cool but as a daily I would prefer the real Honda Grom😅🤘
@@darkowlmoto should I save for a original Grom it's 400-500 USD for a good used one under 5k mileage or should I get the $130 clone
@@nolife097 that’s all personal preference. With a clone you don’t get a warranty and you’ll have to fix the parts that do break on your own.
Sick Tao bro!!!
where did you buy yours?
Purchased mine from FamilyGoKarts.com I personally didn’t have any issues and customer service was very nice. If you order from them make sure you do everything in the emails and that’s required to ensure a smooth purchase/delivery
Where did you get your handlebars?
At the time I got them on eBay. Just look on eBay or Amazon. They didn’t have a specific name I just looked up “7/8 motorcycle handlebars”
@@darkowlmoto thanks
@@BLACKZULU74 np! Hope that helps they are generic named I can’t even think of them. But hope you can find some!!
How did you get cdi connect can’t seem to find where to do it? I ordered the one you have linked?
If you have a hellcat like i had its right underneath the seat on the right side fairing! Easy to spot!
Where could I find a list of the specific mods???
Syd Ramsey what I could find that were still available at the time are in the video description.
I can’t find the mirrors or the handle bars. Could you help direct me to where I could find them?
Unfortunately they do not sell them anymore I found them on EBay.
@@darkowlmoto Well dang. I really like those. I can't find anything similar to them either. Did you search grom handlebars or what
What did you do about the rear fender delete?
Cody Maxwell I just searched universal 7/8th motorcycle handle bars!
Cody Maxwell the rear fender delete I just cut up the original stock one and made my own. I think I may have mentioned that in the video.
hey whats going on can you send link to clutch and brake levers
Motto Vloggster so those aren’t being sold anymore. But you can type in “universal brake and clutch levers” on amazon and or eBay and you’ll get several kinds! Hope this helps!
DarkOwlMoto gotcha yeah bought a few different ones the screw doesn't fit on the clutch lever but they do on the break one but thank u
I have the 2020 clone its white tho lol wanted the the red one lol only has 50 miles on it
Fun bikes for sure!! And cheap to modify.
where fo you find it? whats it called? make and model
How was it when u install the universal speedometer??
Jorge Naranjo it wasnt bad if you have common understanding of soldering and connecting the right wires. If anything its kind of tedious. Just time consuming mainly. It should come with a chart or diagram with the speedo. You just beed to find a hellcat speedo wiring diagram.
@@darkowlmoto how long did it take u?
Jorge Naranjo a couple of hours tops
Ur from illinois aswell we’ll have to ride together some time once I buy mine! Lol
ending song credit?
Aaron S let me
Look!
I have one with a turbo ran too it
Is replacing the parts in case of damage as easy as a name brand Honda grom???
some parts but not all parts it just depends. most honda grom and china ryders forums will tell you what you can and cant swap or use
Would u sell that speedo reading thing lol
Amazon or eBay should have them!
Where can I buy this bike😫
Search up 125cc bike. There are several better males and models from all over!
Mine does not go 70 i deleted the charcoal filter rn about 48 mph amd about half throttle it is like revving a wet noodle
@@darkowlmoto i was also gonna get a 17 t for the front
Nice.
How much did you spend on all those mods on total ??
Maybe a couple hundred?
Do a person 5ft tall could ride this bike and have no problem with riding it
Yep!
do you have videos of putting your mods on??
I do not! But if you need help I’m always down to help out. Just shoot me a message on my IG or my Snapchat!
