  • Building and modifying the George Roberts Printing Company as part of an abandoned factory complex with 3D printed details. This is the fourth structure in my diorama for Walther's National Model Railroad Build Off 2022. We add interior details, lighting and build a grungy deserted factory

If you would like to see me do another kit like this, either Walthers or from someone else, reply to this comment and I will see what I can do.

preface.... I am a hack modeler myself and am working on a like project based on another Walthers kit. This provided some great reference and ideas on how to do it right. Thanks for sharing....

Electrical engineer here. Because of the exact problem you ran into with the lights, it's always best practice for every set of LEDs in parallel to have their own resistor. Even if you have the same number of LEDs in each parallel series, manufacturing variations will have more current flowing through one branch than other, shortening it's lifespan, and when that string goes, the others will follow as more current flows through them instead at that point. Multiple LEDs or strings of LEDs in parallel should never have just one resistor to rule them all.

Very impressed. Just realized that I could used this as a rebuilt co-op apartment building.

Very nice video production quality. Great content and tight editing. I know it is a lot of work to do this, but I would love to see more of this type of work from you.

Thank you very much, I love watching your videos, especially when you build the crazy old school kits.

Wow ! That's a great video of Geo printing or Tire plant. I got sooooo many of them. They're part of a paper mill complexe. I've putted together many of them in one long building. Those are great tips to doma very high quality weathering job.

Have you ever checked Evans Designs for lighting solutions? They have a lot of lighting options that really eliminates the need for solving math problems when lighting structures. If you happen to order items that aren’t compatible they call you to make sure you meant to order those components.

Very detailed kitwork, but I wonder why a deserted building would have active lighting. ;)

The story is one of decay , defeat, and rebirth. The final diorama has the factory being reopened and thus the lights. Plus it is fun to add lighting, even if it's not supposed to be there :)

Hi, would it be possible to get the colors used for the bricks please ? Thanks

    • @ScaleTrainStation
      @ScaleTrainStation  ปีที่แล้ว

These are the paints I used. I would suggest getting a reference photo and using that to pick paints at the store, which is how I picked these:
      Craftsmart
      brown
      Espresso
      Brick Red
      French WIne
      Folk Art
      627 Tangerine
      Americana
      Canyon Orange

@@ScaleTrainStation Hi ! Many many thanks for answering. To be honest, yours is the most beautiful "version" of GEO print I've seen since that kit exist. Like I said in previous email, I'm using many of them in my paper complex buildings. Some are alone but mainly put together (like three or four of them) in a loooong single building. I'm always looking forward to find ways to prime the realism on them. You sure did !

I'll be utilizing these methods to my N scale version of this kit! Love the brick work!
