  • Struggling with food is far from uncommon in childhood and adolescence. Because food is such an important part of our daily lives, eating disorders are highly stressful for both the child experiencing them and their families. Fortunately, there are many effective behavioral interventions-including an approach called Off the CUFF (Clear, Undisturbed, Firm, and Funny)-to address them and support parents. NYU Langone child psychologist Dr. Michelle Miller explores the development of eating disorders, discusses parental concerns, and provides tips on how to improve communication with children with eating disordered behavior.
