  • copyright music removed because it was blocked Neil Young made a whole lot of music from 1968-1972 between Buffalo Springfield, Crazy Horse, CSN&Y and his solo efforts he was a musical genius juggernaut. You can just load up his greatest hits and spend your day taking it all in. On Father's Day today we are going with his legendary album harvest and the appropriate song Old Man. Turn this up and take in the fact that Linda Ronstadt is on backing vocals and James Taylor is playing banjo and singing backup as well. Wow. Just wow. #oldman #neilyoung #harvest #songoftheday #sotd #therockcave #whatwouldfergdo

I consider myself a fan but thanks again for the history lesson. I didn't know all that about Harvest and who is on it!

I’m a massive Neil fan and knew that most of Harvest was recorded in Nashville but I didn’t know that Linda Ronstadt was at those sessions until now. Assuming it was recorded in ‘71, she would have had Frey, Henley, Leadon, and Meisner - embryonic Eagles - as her backing band at the time. Is there any evidence that any Eagles were in the studio that day? What an exciting fantasy for a 70s music fan! Incidentally, the London Symphony Orchestra parts were recorded in London.

Agree. Did she just stop in by herself? How did that happen? Imaging if they were all there!
Thanks for that info on Londonz

Neil Young made an interesting album in 1982, _Trans_ - it's worthy of research & a mention... I seem to recall that Mark Mothersbaugh had something to do with it, but I cannot find any confirmation of that. I know Young's movie _Human Highway_ stars DEVO. Check it out sometime.

He certainly was not one to shy away from experimentation such as Trans and his Rockabilly album Everybody's Rockin' in 1983.
