Great episode! There are so many small details I was unaware of when I first read about the accident it’s insane.

My question has ALWAYS been, how did he get out and she did not??? He didn’t help her at all! All he was concerned about in that moment was “this is going to hurt me politically” and how am I going to get out of this?”. Despicable human being. That poor family….Mary Jo was their only child!

The windscreen was smashed but I don't see how he got out without cutting himself. Or he was strong enough to open a door against the under currents. He said he remembered her grabbing at him underwater - like the Titanic, they grabbed at each other to stay afloat, maybe Ted grabbed at her too? Which helped him get out with no thought for her.
This is tragic...and NOT funny in any way!....Kennedy had no morals or character.....I knew someone who knew him......This episode is horrifying.....He should have been indicted!

How the hell did Ted get out of the car? If he was hammered and remember in 64 Teddy broke his back. How did he get out?

The only thing that makes sense to me is that Ted wasn't the driver. He got out of the car after the cop almost caught them and she drove the car off the bridge. Even Ted Kennedy wouldn't be able to go back to his hotel and sleep knowing this woman was in his car in the pond.
