My first band had a padded Kustom PA (2 5-foot tall 4x12 columns and a head with screw on legs). The bass player had a Kasino amp. Later bands also used Kasinos. Another had some Cerwin Vega cabs. I myself had one of those blue faced Kasino heads. I loved that thing. It took me a while to adjust to the Marshall I replaced it with. Those were the days.

When a 25 minute video goes by faster than blowing up an anemic amp! Great story!

Love the story. I have a SOUNDCITY L120. I rescued and got it serviced. But it's never been right. Had caps done retubed and a pot replaced. But here's the problem the pot is different than American pots. 5.5 K I think. So it was replaced with a 500K. And it's causing a scratchy problem. I would love to send it out to you and you do a video on it. It's not an early one but it's still a good amp. 1972-75 It really is built like a truck and loud as a freight train. It would probably cost me a fortune to ship it but it would be worth it to see somebody bring it back the way it was meant to play. I've talked to Amp makers and they don't like it because it has a active preamp that is tube driven. I have had guys try to get me to do the famous hiwatt mod to it. But was never sure of it. And I never heard of a 5 ohm speaker in my life. lol thanks again

I tell stories now because my day's of digging inside of amps is pretty much over considering that I can't see things clearly or hear them either. The SC amps while quite sophisticated are maybe too sophisticated for their own good. There's so much that can drift off or degrade inside that a seemingly unimportant component can throw a wrench into the works. Depending on which pot, the 500K should present no problem, there's a lot of latitude in those where operationally they work fine it's just that the rotation vs effect is slower or faster depending. Many times these amps are not even biased right, as I said, there''s a lot that can go amiss. Find yourself a good local young amp tech you can trust, they should welcome the challenge. Just be glad it's not a Redmere.

@@BustedJunkStudio thanks again. Keep the stories coming I love reliving the past. I've had some weird amps in my day. SWR, SOUNDCITY, SUNN, old Univox, ROAD, PLUSH, Peavey. both guitar and bass, You name it. I always liked strange stuff. Makes for good story telling!

Ah volume... Time was I ran two 100 w Marshalls 1/2 stacks and a Hiwatt 1/2 stack (2 x 15's) Loud? oh yes... I miss it, but these days I'm running 2 x 40 watt Marshalls.
