      It's still a road warrior 10 years on, it's been some time since I took it out for a spin with all the strange world changing events of recent. Maybe I'll get to fire it up again soon.

    My band had that P A back in the day. Our fIrst P A WAS THE BOGEN!! With home made speaker cabs. Second was a voice of the theater cabs with a pre amp and a phase linear power amp!

      Spooky... we had 2 home made cabinets as well and 2 big EV horns on stands with the Bogen before we got that Vocal Master.

      @@BustedJunkStudio yeah I started in the Illinois valley when in freshman High School . I 'm a drummer. We had to make do with what was available. Some great music locally. Buckacre almost made it. They have a little on youtube.

      although you're over 15,000Km from me I have a lot of dealings with and friends in Australia. They keep wanting me to come on down and visit but the only way I would make that trip is to be darted and caged like an animal... that's one long long flight.

      We were so far south that if we went north of Chicago Ave. we would get a nose bleed. We did however go to Biasco Music up there, that's where Sherman got his Maestro Fuzztone mentioned in Episode #34.

      @@BustedJunkStudio I couldn’t tell ya. I only had the privilege of meeting Kim a couple of times when they toured back in the early nineties. He lived in England and I met his son in Jr High here in Ohio. We had some pretty fun times ,tho. Back stage at their shows really makes an impression on you when you’re in 8th or 9th grade! I had a lot of good times just hanging out with his son and his son’s mom around here doing everyday things too. Really cool people. Kinda lost track over the years, tho.

      Just finished the second half of the video(had to pause and find some Tylenol for a solder fume headache!). I didn’t even realize you were an amp builder! I’ve only been doing it for a year or so and the only experience with solid state components I have are rectifier diodes and Mosfets and Zeners for VVR’s but now that I found your channel, I have a feeling I’m gonna learn some stuff! Amp sounds great! Not just for solid state,either. Just plain sounds good. Yeah solid state has definitely come a long way. Those Quilter amps have some sort of black magic going on in them!

    • @BustedJunkStudio
      @BustedJunkStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@williambock1821 There are a lot of great solid state guys and gals around, for example Rod Elliott at sound-au.com as I mention in the video. My fascination is with musical instrument amplification and sound reinforcement systems be they tube or solid state. Been dealing with it one way or another since the British invasion... the one in the 1960's, not the 1810's. 😀

  • @roncarter2188
    @roncarter2188 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very cool and great story. When I saw the amp I was thinking that's a Stromberg Carlson or a Masco, I guess the maker used the outer shell of one, still very cool.

    • @BustedJunkStudio
      @BustedJunkStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That case was a standard DIY off the shelf tube equipment case back then. There used to be piles of them at the local electronics store. I've tried to find another recently with no success. Time marches on.

    How much money would it cost to build one love you did ?

    • @BustedJunkStudio
      @BustedJunkStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know really, that was done over 10 years ago and prices have changed, availability of stuff has changed. I do know that Rod has the project available and is still selling the boards, so let's figure that it's probably hundreds of dollars but definitely not thousands.

    When you started playing again after a long break had you improved?
    I had to relearn after five years of not being able to play. Made some big leaps all around

    • @BustedJunkStudio
      @BustedJunkStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I restarted I had feet instead of hands, it took a few sessions to start to get back on the horse. After I was back to somewhat normal I tried playing along with some recordings I made in the early 70's and wow! did I loose a lot of speed, they were difficult to keep up with... I've improved since then but I'll never be as sharp as I was long ago, I was a formidable guitar slinger back then.

    Im gonna be honest i dont understand half of what yer saying . But you sure tell it well.
