With a refreshed 2026 Sportage on its way in the late spring, has the dealership received any forecasting yet from Kia Canada on improvements in the availability of the PHEV variants? Considering the difficulties in acquiring the current 2025 PHEV models. I'm considering a Sportage SX PHEV when and if they become available.
"I heard that EVs lose juice in the cold. True?" Batteries don't like the cold. "What advantage is a PHEV over a HEV?" Depends on where you go. Most of my trips are local or about 20km. I get reduced rate electricity overnight so those trips are 5x cheaper. If you go longer you still get the first bit for less then it's a standard hybrid. If you don't do short runs a lot then the extra weight of the PHEV might make it less efficient. If you don't/can't charge cheaply then don't bother. "Most hybrid cars' battery packs are in the trunk or hatch area, although they could also be under the rear seat. I wonder which one for this car?" I think they are under the rear seats. The 12v battery is moved under the boot which limits space. "Is it possible to charge the battery inside a PHEV with gasoline?" Unless it's a hidden option - no. Once it gets to about 13% charge it charges then uses the power straight away rather than store it. Not once seen it ever go up once it goes into hybrid mode. "I think engine and regen brakes does charge battery in PHEV. " As above. Once it gets any charge it uses it as soon as possible. "the trunk feels too open, doesn't have a luggage cover like the hybrid model which one can pull forward and backwards?" The European version has one as standard. "What are vented seats ??" The seats have loads of perforations in them and it blows the aircon up your bum and on your back. A bit like heated seats, it takes getting used to, but on a really warm day it's actually really nice. "Front camera can be used as a Dash-cam?" Can't say about the US/Canada market but I asked Hyundai UK and they said no and they had no intention of doing it. In some markets there's an add-on but not sure which ones. Seems a no-brainer to me. "Does the EPB kick in automatically when the engine is switched off?" Yes. "The PHEV will drive fully electric, usually between about 30-80km (This Tuscon is rated for 51)." If it's cold it won't. Or at leat mine doesn't. Even when set to EV mode the engine will come on if the heater is on. Apparently burning fuel at idle speeds is more efficient that using electricity. I'd like the choice. "Is there a turbo whine sound coming from the engine? If so, is it noticeable?" Possibly, but I've not noticed the engine sound even starting when in EV mode and you put the foot down, so I doubt it's loud. "Why the remote is so big but there is no space to fit in the physical emergency key?" Oh that really bugs me as well. I'd done a test drive with the salesman having the keyso hadn't seen it. Paid for the car and then they bring out what I can only describe as keys the size of those floats they used on Baywatch. Genuinely had a moment where I backed out. Why are they so big compared to key fobs that actually have keys in them?
When you’re charging at home or at work, I don’t think two hours is much of an issue, just vehicle still runs on gasoline - it’s not like you’re stuck stranded waiting two hours at a public charger.
PHEVs don't suit everyone. I live within 7km of a city so most of my trips are about 14km. We get a half-price electric rate overnight so plug in overnight so I rarely use the engine (although it's worth noting that when it's cold it will turn on the engine to run the heating - even when set to EV only, which does annoy me that you can't override that) My wife does at least a 200km run once a week and charges at work so nearly half the trip is electric so (in the UK at least) 5x cheaper than using the engine plus when it's running hybrid it's still better mpg. If you do long runs all the time then PHEV is mibbe not the best option.
Sorry but this Tucson is very ugly car. . The interier is ok but the exterier is very ugly! Why the koreaian manager doesnt want to pay a italian designer?😢😢😢😢

"I heard that EVs lose juice in the cold. True?"

Well, I am glad to see the Kia girls hard at work
What is the wait time for phev
The cargo cover does not stow nicely under the cargo flooring in the PHEV. The EV battery components take up that space. I tried it. It doesn't fit. 😞
very nice
The radiator needs additional protection
Does it come with spare tire?
No real spare unfortunately. It has a tire mobility kit.
What is the size of the Drive Battery, plz
Looked around found the answer. 13.8kWh
nice outfit 👠👙👗
That car still has the worst rear directional signals, move them up
No Rear Window Wiper? Does it at least have heater events in the glass?
It does have a rear wiper, it’s just hidden under the spoiler
2hrs. to charge, who has time for that?

Shifting to PHEV or HEV might also be a shift in driving lifestyle. It can take a little way until it sinks in :)
