I was in Manila in 1996, at the airport, it was raining, listening to this song on my Sony FM Walkman (with MegaBass LOL) waiting for my flight back home to the States (to LA, final destination San Diego). The song was playing with just enough static interference for it to enhance the melancholy feeling. I had escaped reality for 2 pleasurable weeks, but was going back to a very difficult reality. I went through something that would have mentally wrecked a lot of people that occurred soon after I came home. Surviving that experience has given me a strength that I can draw upon in times of stress, anxiety and uncertainty. I thank God as much as I can to know that I'm still alive today.

It never happened - I never even met them - but I did see 3 or 4 of their amazing gigs including one at the Town & Country club (to promote Blind) where I met my future husband. No one takes you right back to the moment like The Sundays.....there'll never be another band like them.
I went to see them at the old Town & Country club in Kentish Town in 93. Fell in love with them (& Harriet!) then. I remember being drunk getting the tube home and drunkenly yelling, "why didn't they play you're not the only one I know" to the assembled tube-goers. I was also wearing a long sleeve shirt with the Blind album cover on it. I get misty eyed thinking about it. Greatest band ever.

The Sundays can't write a bad song even if they tried. All their songs are good. Even the songs they wrote for movies are decent (like Close Your Eyes for the movie The Infidel). Listen to their B-sides too if you haven't before. Life Goes On, Gone, and Through the Dark are great songs.

I’m only 17, going on 18 in a few weeks, and I just discovered this song about a week or so ago. I’ve never heard this song or band before, and yet, it has such a nostalgic feel to it that I can’t really explain. I guess it’s the general melancholic vibe of it, but idk, I can even already picture myself listening to this when I’m much older and just reminiscing on the past. I’m more of a metal fan myself, but i like to listen to stuff like this once in a while, and I really do enjoy the rest of the album this is off of as well, along with a few of their other songs. I’m just so shocked they’re not more popular. Only discovered them through Spotify radio based on some other 90s bands I was listening to I guess, but I feel so lucky to have found them now and not later as I’ve certainly been missing out.

The Sundays can't write a bad song even if they tried. All their songs are good. Even the songs they wrote for movies are decent (like Close Your Eyes for the movie The Infidel). Listen to their B-sides too if you haven't before. Life Goes On, Gone, and Through the Dark are great songs.

I’m only 17, going on 18 in a few weeks, and I just discovered this song about a week or so ago. I’ve never heard this song or band before, and yet, it has such a nostalgic feel to it that I can’t really explain. I guess it’s the general melancholic vibe of it, but idk, I can even already picture myself listening to this when I’m much older and just reminiscing on the past. I’m more of a metal fan myself, but i like to listen to stuff like this once in a while, and I really do enjoy the rest of the album this is off of as well, along with a few of their other songs. I’m just so shocked they’re not more popular. Only discovered them through Spotify radio based on some other 90s bands I was listening to I guess, but I feel so lucky to have found them now and not later as I’ve certainly been missing out.
good music is good music no matter the genre. look up the song "turkish". its not on any of their albums.

I was wondering if ‘ west to the seaside’ could be a reference to bristol uni where i think the band met ? every time i listen the lyrics mean something different i guess part of the fun of it is we will never know the memories they’re really about… one of my fav songs ever
