Hello! Please tell me how the bronze pinion works with metal gears, how long does it work? And is there a steel version of such a pinion? If there is a link to the steel pinion for 370 motor please
Love watching your videos! Just a quick question, can you flip the 2 speed transmission and motor upside down and have the motor facing the opposite direction and install it that way for more ground clearance?
I think wpl must stick with this size, this is true 1/12 i think from the blueprint i have. Because 1/12 scale is so good with all of my action figure lol
I agree. It's a good half size that is well established (dollhouse scale and 6" action figures) and partly because I am biased against 1/10 because it's so large and ungainly
the B-1 here (RTR bang-bang steering gave it 2 fresh 400 rpm N20 gear motors) looks totally monstered with the C24 frame fitted under it, about 1/2" lifted. no prob, I'll get the taller tires for a C34 (or whatever) and whip up another set of "custom widened" stock rims to slap onto it. still waiting on a pair of 600 rpm N20's to swap in. its very beefy looking sitting up tall. oh hey that "slow" single speed gearbox with a 370, easy to swap in a fast spinning 380-390 motor, or maybe a 2840 size 5000kv brushless (oh chit!). "project drift mini truck" is getting there, B-1 frame, front servo box sliced off bottom glued inside gives front axle clearance, front of it cut off 1/4" trimmed to fit and glued in upside down for the cab mount screws to go in from top down.. axles mounted atop leaf springs is about 5/8" lower, combined with straight rail B-1 frame giving 7/16" from rim to rear wheel wells and about 1/2" for the fronts.... it's nicely slammed! did have to shorten the shafts and cut about 1" wide 2" long inside C24 battery compartment, motor about level with that floor, lets more air at it too. could put receiver and ESC there. hood is cut and hinged, still need to do a 1/4" chop-n-drop on the tray that goes over the steering servo, is where the battery will go to put weight up front.... I don't expect that it WONT drift like a little bandit when done, but if it's a fail I'll certainly holler LOUDLY about it, like "do NOT try this at home!" lol both axles have about 1/4" suspension travel max, 1/8" up 1/8" down, a little more in rear but not a lot, seems about right travel+stiffness for this PERVERSION lol, sits like it just popped out of the late 80's :)
pretty confident it'll do nice enough controlled drifts with the 20k rpm 180 motor, 9.2:1 total drive ratio, and slick tires that'll only be 1+5/8" tall. more than anything its just weight up front to pull+steer with and staying within the speed range where it's easy to pitch it sideways, or straighten up, by bumping the throttle faster or slower. gee... 28 bucks for the kit and some part swapping just to see it isn't bad, and the B-1 "monstered up" does look pretty great, might have to upgrade the radio gear and slap in a dual 130 motor setup with a #316 cheepo gearbox and call it a trail truck. I'm still liking the power response of 2 130's better than a single 180 with that #316, they share the load instead of a single motor getting warmer for trying to run slow when climbing, they're lower rpm too.
Is that the same motor I got? 50,000rpm @ 11.1v rated? If not I recommend it. 10mph low gear, 18mph high on mn90 tires.. plenty of torque like brushless power dang near
Very cool I was wondering how the two speed would work in the new truck. I think I'm going to leave mine totally stock for a while when I get it. But I'm going to go crazy on the scale side. I have an m in 45 that I'm planning on putting a bunch of mods on. I'm thinking about ordering a c14 kit here soon to. Absolutely love your videos and your channel bud keep up the great work
Another great vid bro. Is there any way to fit some kind of bash plate under the 2 speed? If it was tucked right up under it in a nice smooth shape, it might stop the 2 speed snagging on obstacles. Especially the leading edge of it. Still waiting for our kit to arrive along with a B24. Can't wait to run them
Your going to have tons of fun! I actually already remounted the 2 speed higher up. I should have a update video soon on this rig and what I did to it so far. Thanks for the support brother!
thank you very nice video very informative I had to replace my tranny on my q65 had to mod the body a bit still needs some more the one that was on it the pinion slipped off the motor in the process of putting back on slipped out of my hand still cant find it lol had to go with the 2 speed and used the original driveshaft , I want to replace them with metal ones had to drill out the original ones the shaft on this gearboxes are a bit bigger in in all it works.
I had problems with the tires coming off the rim , I installed foam from a pipe insulation and they seem to work so far. Any other ideas how to fix this problem?
I use Elmers rubber cement for the WPL tires/rims, holds well enough but easy to peel the tires off if/when needed without ripping the tires. any that's showing can be rubbed away clean with your finger too, most stationary sections of even grocery stores may have it for sale.
Great video bro! I recently got a wpl c24 and I upgraded transmitter with Dumborc 6 ch radio and 2 speed transmission. I wanted to ask how to operate the 2 speed transmission. Do you need a certain type of remote for it? Thank you
I was assuming I would need them for my brushless build but the plastic gears have help up. When I received the C34KM with the single speed I wanted to make it 2 speed and complete the full metal theme and be full metal drivetrain. The plastic gears I removed are brand new still and are spares now. So far both setups are still running without issues.
The cvd style is a lot smoother and can handle more of an angle without binding. Universal ones are ok but sometimes cause binding issues in the driveline. They seem more reliable as well.
One quick question, is this 2 speed gearbox better than the 180 motor that came with the kit? Does this gearbox put more torque to the car combined with the 370 motor?
The stock C34KM motor that mine came with wasn't cutting it for me. Maybe I received a bad motor with mine. It was very weak and not strong enough to keep the crawling smooth. Also the speed is really slow so it's not good for my kind of crawling. I don't sit by one spot and crawl. I usually hike trails so I need the Second gear for some walking speed so I don't have to carry the truck to the next obstacle. The 2 speed just works and performs great IMO. Specially when paired with the newer V3 or in my case V2 electronics in my C34KM it's pretty sweet.
if the motor mount has adjustable mounting positions for the motor then it should be possible(don't own a metal single speed hearbox yet). If your talking about the stock gearbox it isn't adjustable so the gear mesh would be an issue.

O man let me know how that rtr turns out. I dont think any reviewer has one or is getting one. I have the regular c34k kit on the way to see what parts are different from the c34km metal kit.
there is 2 different metal housing 2 speeds available aftermarket both different from original WPL 2 speed. I don't think they have a stock wpl 2 speed metal housing replacement.
Hey man! Let me know how to pm you or something, I've got some motor lifts I would like to send you. I 3d print them and they fit beautiful. No mods, just install. Have fun, I'm gonna go run my rc.
If you are running rtr electronics then you will need to upgrade to atleast a 3 channel transmitter so you can shift the 2 speed and the esc will have enough power to handle the 2 speed. 2 speed is slower than 260 in low gear and faster in high gear.
If your referring the the metal single speed with reduction I'm not sure. I have never owned one of those. The 2 speed works and the 180nstock wpl c14/24 gearbox works. Maybe if you find the right driveshafts it would work? Not sure sorry.

Your 6ch transmitter should work fine. Just use a empty 2 position switch channel on the tx/rx that has endpoints so you can fine tune the throw.
You can use channel 3
