If you're average income it's a smaller proportion if you're in the lowest bracket it's you energy and food bill.... hence all the food banks. Incredibly sad especially when we see other nations have done so much more

Her actions is why I have referred to her as a little political Trussy! During the party leadership race, she flirted with every popular policy she could think of and now that her mini-budget strategy has proven to be unpopular she is once again flirting with a new strategy that she thinks will be popular. Absolutely no backbone, principles or well-thought out strategy whatsoever.

"We have the least amount of debt amongst the G7". Perhaps that is true, but what Thicky Trussy doesn't make clear is that Japan's debt is all borrowed from the population itself in the form of Government Bonds and that is why the Yen is considered one of the most secure currencies in the World. It isn't how much debt you have but the ability to be able to repay it if things go south.

Liz=WRONG! The most prosperous time for the UK for the majority was from 1950-70, with high income, inheritance and capital gains tax. Why? because there was no point in earning more than x30 average (now CEO's x 300), so reinvest in the workforce, research etc. Never perfect with strong unions, but it was the period of the closest wage gaps ever in the history of the country, which make us happier, empirically.
The Nordics carried on this policy post 1970, (started in the 1930's) we foolishly chose the path of Hayek and his sociopath loons.
So Liz not only are you wrong, but recent history over and over again has proven this point, whilst the Nordics with PR, open government and consensus politics ( even the right can occasionally get a look in when the centerists get complacent) just steadily grow toward greener uplands , we talk about fracking! FFS.
Disaster supply side economic theory hasn't worked, period.
