@@reversezoom4285Increases poise and reduces damage taking while the effect lasts. Slap it on a light weapon like a fist or dagger and use it tactically to cast spells or ashes of war you'd normally be interrupted out of by a single hit.

One thing I really like of the Rakshasa great katana is that with the crouch attack being followed up by the second R1, and R2 being a poke, you can essentially string three thrusts of different speeds one after the other.
Also works the same way with the running R1, I love this weapon it's so stupidly strong.
especially true considering you can charge the R2 and then have the option to cancel it with backstep to instead do a sweeping swing. The moveset is just so dynamic and interesting I love it!
Running light, 2h heavy and 2h crouch are all long pokes.
Very useful weapon for that counter damage!

I feel like dex really has the most solid run of really unique, high-scaling weapons end to end in this game.
Swordspear and Misericorde in limgrave, urumi and frozen needle in liurnia, peeler and nagakiba in Altus, stitcher and butcher's in Volcano Manor, Zamor sword in mountaintops, Hand of Malenia in haligtree and the Dragon King's Cragblade in faram azula. That's not even getting in to talismans.
The DLC really keeps up this streak for dex users with weapons like Nanaya's torch, the perfect dex weapon to take you through all the new PvE content, and it destroys in PvP as well.

I love how the sword of night and rakshasa’s great katana get fantastic scaling all the way up to 80 dex. Some of the somber dex weapons in the base game felt like the scaling dropped off pretty hard after 50-60 dex
That's good for me on my dex build, I believe I only hit 55 max on my dex invasion build as I also like 20 str and good vigor/endurance
Rakshasa has enormous scaling, it easily reaches 1k AR

Swift spear became my favorite weapon very quickly
Combined with the Discus I made a Hoplite build. Simple and devastating, fast hitting pokes and ranged option.
How are you using it? Feels like ass to me.

Exactly, I recently started making a hardswap setup and this is just perfect for a template.
Chase try making a build for great katana in the off hand and normal katana in the main hand. 1 hit great katana and 1 hit normal katana after true combos. It's rly good
I have been playing with a quality build, been pretty fun. So far my favorite wea09n has been the m' lady and the stone sword.
The stone sheathed sword hits had and is unique becase it does strike damage with the longsword moveset, hits really hard.
Chase when you Use the sword of night and the great katana in the off Hand u get a Huge combo
It's ash of war, l1, r2 as far as i know It's a true combo but i could be wrong
I hear the stun on offhand GK is pretty good. Yet to try it.

Just wanted to let you know you've inspired me to do a level-through-invasions run after seeing your series, it's been super fun! Been watching your videos for about a year now but never really invaded since I got my ass beat so bad the first couple times I tried. Starting at low level (and the huge advantages that come with) gave me motivation to stick with it long enough to improve. I'm still not great but it's been super fun feeling myself get better. Up to level 42 right now!

would love the idea of a "consumable build". you would have to wear the greatjar headpiece and the perfumer talisman, the only weapon you are allowed to use is the perfume bottles and an endure dagger :P
And I was very happy about it. I really enjoy the perfume, martial arts, and scythe.
The cirque's as well. I farmed the curseblade by graveside plains dry day two.
you should try messmers spear! it's aow is really good for crowd control and the first hit goes really far and still does great damage

What always amazes me is how fast Chase can navigate the menu and change weapons and armor midfight.
I didn't realize the claws of night had a ranged attack other than the ash of war. Also spear of the impaler has a throwing attack when you do the heavy! So cool!

i’ve seen it all, winning while stuck in a tree
I just find it amazing that people like you are walking around with a full inventory of weapons, armor and talismans, and somehow manage to accurately switch between them in a few frames.
Meanwhile, I'm constantly purging my inventory to keep just the bare necessities of my current build.
It's just muscle memory for the most part, the things he uses the most (crimson seed tali, flower chest) you just memorize the inputs for so that you don't even have to look at the screen
Purging your inventory is the first step
Chase has done it for years invading since DS3 so it became muscle memory.
He has specific items in specific places so he can memorise the buttons to switch to each item
I finally figured out how to use blinkbolt in duels ( it’s a distance closer to be used while they are area denying with an attack )

I didn't occur to me until 16:25 but I'm pretty sure the Claws of Night share the shield piercing of the Sword of Night which just adds more to how good they are
