I’ve owned 3 kindles-the signature paperwhite, the scribe, and the oasis. I used my oasis more than the others. I like the page turn buttons and the ergonomic grip. Hopefully they’ll make a new oasis

With a kindle you don’t need to crank up the brightness to be visible in sunlight. Even with 0 brightness, it is very much visible outdoors. If you’re using it outdoors, you don’t need a backlight at all like older kindle models.
I recently found a kindle oasis 8th gen for $5 at my local swap meet and it is in mint condition and it is the best reader I ever had. I replaced battery and it is even better now
Jesus Christ mate! One of the biggest benefits of an e-ink display is that you don't need LED's to make it visible in direct sunlight. It's quite the contrary, direct sunlight makes it the most visible.
I've had multiple Kindles over the years and I used to work for Amazon supporting the Kindle. I've had everything from the original all the way through the oasis and by far my favorite is the Kindle Paperwhite. I've got two of them right now that still work but the battery doesn't last as long as the newer ones though. I just ordered the newest Kindle paperwhite which I should get sometime this week. The Oasis never held a candle to the paperwhite for me. It was awkward and the asymmetrical weight distribution just made it uncomfortable to read. Tried it for a couple weeks and then returned it.
DON'T turn up the brightness in direct sunlight like you do on your phone. Sunlight actually illuminates the reader, because it's like paper. In sunlight, you can turn OFF the light and therefore it needs no electricity unless you turn the page. Only turn on the light if it gets dark.
@@seanroge I just don't want a different charging cable, I don't care for wireless charging, but ALL my devices are usb-c and I have those cables all over my house, I'm not bringing in micro-usb just for one device
Can someone please explain to me why you need stronger backlight in direct sunlight where an E Ink display literally is a reflective panel and needs a backlight for the dark and not in the lighter conditions?

So, I'm not sure how much everyone else reads, but the battery life is NOT good. At BEST it is mediocre. Realistically it sucks. It's only 'good' if you never ever ever use the built in lighting. I'd also recommend that you DO NOT charge the kindle while reading, as this also seems to destroy the battery life. I bought mine in December 2020, and I've been searching for information on how to replace the battery for about six months. It's December 2023, so 2.5 year battery life MAX if you read two or three hours a day.
the battery life tanks when you put new books on it since it indexes every word in everything loaded, once it stops doing that in the background after a day or 3 it goes bak to pretty solid ive had my gen 2 oasis since 2017 and the battery still lasts for around 20hrs of constant reading with the lighting on constantly the "6 weeks" advertised on most kindles is at 30 mins of reading a day
@@angrysarcasm2229 try recalibrating the battery, charge to full and leave for overnight then next time you use it use it till it dies completely it should fix the % being inaccurate
hmm i think it depends on you if you want the oasis asap or not. given that the kindle paperback was upgraded, kindle might think that the upgrade was enough for a couple of years. an oasis upgrade can follow in the late 2024 to early 2026.
I dont understand ppl who get the 32 or 64 GB models. Each ebook is like 2MB. I think its the same ppl who wear the no lens glasses to appear smarter who buy these versions.
I always get the maximum memory because I have over 1,000 e-books and I want all of them immediately available even when Wi-Fi lis unavailable. I also have a large number of audio books that I have downloaded for the same reason.

Yeah, this video is full of things that aren't true. Anyone who owns the 2019 Oasis can tell you that the battery life is NOT 'good'.

I have to use a case. The Amazon fabric one, with thumb on top, pointer between the front and back cover,and middle finger on bottom works great
The ergonomics comes into play more with weight distribution than grip.
The original generation 1 Kindle had HUGE page-turn buttons, dad had one I remember that. Why did they get rid of those buttons?
Why do you need Backlight in Sunlight? Its a Paperink Display. The do not need Light, only in dark conditions!

Have been using the Oasis for 4 years exclusively for reading books it is perfect. Have had no issues with the micro usb port.
